EJ Archield played in Delaware’s 30–14 loss to Liberty on October 2, 2026. Before kickoff, RotoWire reported that he was warming up with Delaware’s starters, but that report did not establish that the university had officially named him the starter. A StatMuse game log records his appearance and performance; an official box score was not available in the sources reviewed.
What was reported before the Liberty game?
In a pregame item published October 2, RotoWire said Archield was warming up with Delaware’s starters before the Week 5 game against Liberty, citing Feathers and Field Goals. That is evidence of a possible opportunity, not confirmation of an official starting-quarterback announcement.
RotoWire’s report said Delaware starter Nick Minicucci was out with a leg injury and that the team was changing its backup quarterback after Braden Streeter completed 2 of 16 passes with two interceptions against Virginia the previous week. Those details are the report’s account, not an independently verified injury diagnosis or official depth-chart notice.

Was this Archield’s first college appearance?
It was his first recorded collegiate game appearance in the sources available here. Delaware Athletics’ 2026 preseason quarterback preview said Archield was looking to make his collegiate debut, and the university roster bio says he did not see game action in 2025.
The university bio lists 2,448 passing yards and 19 passing touchdowns, plus 300 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns, for Archield’s high-school senior season. Those are high-school results, not Delaware college statistics. The profile showed no collegiate statistics available.

What does this mean for his role going forward?
The Liberty appearance confirms that Archield saw game action, but one game does not establish his future place on Delaware’s depth chart. The available sources do not provide an official postgame depth-chart update or enough evidence to project a dependable ongoing role.
