Promote Super Chats on a 24/7 YouTube stream with a brief, pinned reminder in Live Chat and a plan for checking and acknowledging paid messages. The reminder stays in chat rather than covering the video, so your prerecorded playback does not need to change. Super Chat is available only when the channel and stream are eligible and live chat is on; check the stream’s status in YouTube Studio.
Keep the promotion in Live Chat, not over the video
Super Chat and Super Stickers are paid messages or stickers that stand out in live chat. YouTube says they are automatically available on eligible live streams and Premieres where live chat is turned on. Eligibility and availability can vary, so verify them for your channel and stream in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers help page explains availability and management.
A pinned chat message is the simplest documented way to keep a reminder visible without adding a graphic to the stream video. YouTube allows a creator to pin their own message or a viewer’s message. Only one message can be pinned at a time, and pinned messages appear below Super Chats; pinning another message replaces the current one. See YouTube’s Live Chat instructions.
Set up a clear, low-pressure reminder
- Before going live, check eligibility and chat. In YouTube Studio, confirm that live chat is enabled and that Super Chat is available for the channel and stream. YouTube’s feature is limited to eligible streams and channels.
- Open the stream’s Live Chat and pin a short message. Explain that Super Chat is an optional way to support the stream, and make clear that ordinary chat is welcome too. For example: “Enjoying the stream? Super Chat is available in live chat if you’d like to support us. Regular chat is welcome too.”
- Replace the pinned message only when you have a reason. You can pin another message to change the reminder, but there is only one pinned message at a time. Keep the text useful rather than repeatedly posting or changing it just to demand attention.
- Decide who will check paid messages. For a continuous stream, set a realistic schedule for reviewing chat yourself or arrange suitable moderator coverage. YouTube does not prescribe a staffing schedule for every 24/7 stream.
Avoid promising that a Super Chat guarantees a reply, changes the video, or receives a particular response unless that is a practice you can actually maintain. A simple explanation of how you handle messages is clearer and more trustworthy.

Monitor Super Chats and moderate the continuous chat
YouTube documents creator-side Super Chat monitoring through Live Control Room, the YouTube mobile app, or the website. In the creator chat view, you can filter for fan-funding items and switch back to all messages. The available controls and views are described in YouTube’s Super Chat help.
Choose monitoring intervals that fit the stream’s audience and the people available to manage it. A 24/7 stream does not mean one person must watch every minute, but unattended chat can go unreviewed. YouTube provides controls for holding potentially inappropriate messages and managing live chat; decide who will use them and how to handle unsuitable messages. Do not delete a Super Chat expecting it to refund the sender: YouTube says deleting a Super Chat message after the stream does not result in a refund. Moderation is about managing chat, not reversing a purchase.
What viewers can see depends on where they watch
Live Chat is available on YouTube watch pages, not on embedded players. A pinned reminder therefore is not guaranteed to be visible to someone watching an embed. If you share an embedded player, explain that viewers who want to join chat or use Super Chat should open the stream on its YouTube watch page. Should you use an overlay?
An external overlay is optional; YouTube’s native chat pinning and creator-side monitoring provide the documented tools for this workflow. The YouTube guidance cited here does not establish that an overlay is required, automatically promotes Super Chat, or is guaranteed not to affect playback. If you choose one, test it in your exact setup before relying on it, and keep the video itself unobstructed if uninterrupted playback is the priority.
