Eligible new users may be able to test an always-on YouTube podcast stream with Google Cloud’s temporary trial credit, but the trial is time-limited, and the always-free Compute Engine VM allowance applies to specified US regions—not an India-region VM. A real 24/7 deployment also needs a compatible encoder, enough network capacity, monitoring, and rights-cleared content. Check the costs for your chosen region and configuration before treating the setup as free.
What Google Cloud’s free offers do—and do not—cover
Trial credit: temporary, not a permanent streaming plan
Google Cloud’s current Free Program documentation describes a $300 welcome credit for 90 days for eligible new users. It is a trial offer, not a recurring monthly allowance, and eligibility is not guaranteed for every account. Google says that if the trial expires or the credit is exhausted without upgrading to a paid billing account, the trial billing account closes and its associated projects and resources stop. See Google Cloud’s free trial and Free Tier terms before signing up.
The credit might support a demonstration, but the documentation does not establish how long it would run this particular stream. That depends on the region, VM size and workload, storage, outbound network traffic, and other billable services. No total cost can be stated without those choices.
Always Free VM: specified US regions only
Google’s Free Tier lists one e2-micro Compute Engine VM in specified US regions. Google’s Compute Engine documentation says its monthly hours can cover one VM running for the full month. That allowance does not establish that an India-region VM—or the associated storage and network transfer—is free. See the current Free Tier limits and Compute Engine monthly-hour explanation, then price the actual region and resources you intend to use.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If the VM must be located in India, do not apply the US-region allowance to it. If the goal is simply to serve Indian viewers, a US-region VM may be an option, but its suitability and full charges still need checking. Location, capacity, stream bitrate, egress, and latency are separate considerations.
What you need to stream a podcast to YouTube
Confirm the YouTube channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check the channel’s eligibility before provisioning a VM; cloud credits cannot remove a YouTube restriction. Follow YouTube’s live-streaming setup requirements.

Choose and configure an encoder
A cloud VM does not itself turn a video file into a YouTube broadcast. You need an encoder workflow that sends the podcast video and audio to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. Use YouTube’s current encoder settings, supported protocols, codecs, resolutions, and bitrate guidance; do not assume a particular configuration is supported without checking that page. Test the connection and monitor stream health before relying on it continuously.
Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your channel. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder with the new key.

Allow network headroom
YouTube recommends at least 20% bandwidth headroom beyond the combined bitrate of the stream. That guidance applies to the outbound capacity available to the encoder. A VM allowance alone does not guarantee enough network throughput or free data transfer, and egress charges may apply. Test the actual deployment and monitor YouTube’s stream-health indicators. See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance and streaming tips.
Plan for restarts, archives, and rights
Keep an archive plan separate from the live stream
YouTube can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours. A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. For an archive you need to keep, schedule shorter live sessions and maintain a separate recording backup rather than relying on one uninterrupted stream. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

Expect to monitor and recover the service
A continuous stream can be interrupted by encoder or VM restarts, connectivity problems, or YouTube ending the connection. Plan how you will detect a dropped stream, restart the encoder, and verify that the broadcast has resumed. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring; the free VM allowance itself is not a promise of uninterrupted streaming.
Clear the rights to everything you broadcast
You are responsible for having the rights needed for the live content, including music, and for complying with applicable laws and YouTube’s livestream terms. A podcast’s ability to play a track locally does not mean it is cleared for a live broadcast. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and confirm the necessary permissions before streaming.

A practical decision path for creators in India
- Check trial eligibility and signup requirements. Google’s documentation describes a valid payment method as part of trial verification. The official information reviewed here does not settle India-specific accepted payment methods, currency conversion, or tax treatment for every account. Check the signup and billing screens for your location and account.
- Decide whether the workload must run in India. The documented always-free e2-micro allowance is limited to specified US regions. For another region or VM type, estimate compute, storage, network egress, and related charges using the configuration you actually plan to run.
- Validate the encoder before leaving it unattended. Configure it with YouTube’s current stream URL, key, and supported settings; test a broadcast; and check stream health and bandwidth headroom.
- Choose your continuity and recording approach. Arrange monitoring and recovery for interruptions. If the archive matters, use shorter stream sessions and keep a separate recording backup.
- Clear content rights before going live. Check permissions for spoken material, music, and other included content.
- Separate a trial test from a sustainable service. The credit is temporary; an indefinite no-cost India-hosted setup is not established by the published US-region VM allowance. Verify ongoing charges before the trial ends.
