If audio pauses at the same point every time a video repeats on your YouTube Live stream, check the loop setting in the software playing the video, then inspect and test the file at its end-to-start boundary. OBS can repeat a media file or playlist, but its loop controls do not guarantee gapless audio. YouTube’s viewer-side Loop feature is separate and does not control a creator’s live output.
First, identify which loop is causing the problem
If you are watching a regular YouTube video or playlist, YouTube’s Loop control repeats playback in the viewer interface. It does not change the audio sent by a creator’s live-streaming software. If you are broadcasting a prerecorded video and hear a pause whenever it repeats, troubleshoot the playback source in your streaming setup instead. YouTube Help explains how to loop videos or playlists while watching.
Check the OBS source that plays the video
OBS has two relevant options, depending on whether you are looping one local file or playing a playlist. OBS documents the repeat controls; it does not promise that audio will join seamlessly at the file boundary. See OBS Project’s Media Sources documentation.
For one local file: Media Source
- In OBS, select the Media Source that plays the video in the Sources list.
- Open its properties and check Loop so playback starts again after the file finishes.
- Apply the change, then listen across several repeats in a local preview or recording before starting the live stream.
This is the simpler documented path for a single file. The setting makes the file repeat; it does not remove silence that is already part of the recording or ensure a seamless transition.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For a playlist: VLC Video Source
- Select the VLC Video Source used for playback in OBS and open its properties.
- Confirm the playlist contains the intended files and enable Loop Playlist.
- Check the source’s visibility behavior if playback seems to stop, pause, or continue when the source is hidden. OBS exposes choices that affect playback when the source is not visible.
- Test the playlist in OBS across multiple transitions, including the transition that produces the audible gap.
VLC Video Source is useful when you need a playlist and exposes additional playback controls. Network caching is one of its settings; OBS documents a default of 400 ms, but changing that value is not established as a fix for a gap at a local file’s repeat boundary.
Inspect the end and beginning of the media
Listen to the last seconds and first seconds of the file in an editor or preview workflow. Check whether the recording itself contains silence, a cut, or an abrupt change at the boundary. If silence is part of the file, toggling OBS’s repeat option will not remove it; edit the media and test the revised transition.

If the pause happens at the same point on every repeat, the file boundary or source playback behavior is a practical place to investigate, not a definitive diagnosis. Preview or record several loops and listen to the outgoing OBS audio before going live. Neither OBS loop option is documented as guaranteeing gapless playback.
Choose the source based on what you are playing
| Option | Best fit | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| OBS Media Source | One local media file | Enable Loop; inspect and test the file boundary. |
| OBS VLC Video Source | A playlist | Enable Loop Playlist; check visibility behavior and test playlist transitions. |
| YouTube viewer Loop | Repeating a video or playlist while watching | This is a viewer playback control, not a setting for a creator’s live output. |
OBS documents the options, but does not establish that either source is inherently more seamless. Choose according to whether you need a single file or playlist, then verify the actual output.

Troubleshoot a gap that remains
- The pause recurs at precisely the same boundary: inspect the file’s ending and opening for encoded silence or a cut, then test an edited version.
- The gap occurs when the source is hidden: review the VLC Video Source visibility behavior in its properties and test with the source visible.
- The playback setting looks correct, but you still hear a pause: make a local OBS recording that spans several repeats. This helps distinguish a file-boundary issue from what you hear in the live output.
- You are considering converting the audio to WAV: do not assume that conversion will fix timing. One OBS forum user reported that exporting to WAV did not resolve their timing mismatch; that is an individual report, not a general test or recommendation. Read the OBS forum discussion.
No particular cable, capture card, or other hardware fix is established for this symptom. Start with the source setting, the media boundary, and a local test.
