Find where the stream stops: first check whether Dacast Preview receives your encoder feed. If it does not, check the encoder’s Dacast server URL and stream key. If Dacast Preview is live, check that YouTube is saved as a Dacast Simulcast destination with the correct YouTube stream key, then inspect YouTube Live Control Room for an incoming preview and any required Go live action. The title alone does not reveal which failure is happening, so use the checks below to isolate it.
Trace the stream from encoder to YouTube
In a Dacast Simulcast setup, the encoder sends its feed to Dacast, and Dacast forwards it to YouTube. That means the encoder should use the Dacast ingest settings, while the YouTube stream key belongs in Dacast’s destination settings. Sending the encoder directly to YouTube is a different workflow; do not mix the server URL or key from one path with the other.
- Open Dacast Preview or the channel’s share link. Start the encoder and see whether Dacast receives the feed. Dacast’s live-streaming walkthrough recommends testing the stream with Preview or the share link.
- If Preview is empty, check the encoder-to-Dacast connection. Confirm that the encoder is using the current Dacast publishing/server URL and stream key shown for that channel. Re-enter the values carefully and start the encoder again. Do not substitute YouTube’s server URL or key in this setup.
- Check the ingest URL if you enabled Simulcast or multi-destination streaming. Dacast says creating a multi-destination setup changes the ingest URL used by the encoder. Its example address is not universal; use the current configuration displayed for your channel rather than copying an example endpoint. The warning is explicit: “When setting a Multistream destination, the ingest destination URL CHANGES.” — Dacast, Multi-Destination Live Stream Setup: New Channel Guide.
- If Preview is live, check the Dacast YouTube destination. In the channel’s Engagement/Simulcast settings, confirm YouTube is connected, the intended YouTube stream key is entered, and the destination was saved. Dacast’s Simulcasting guide describes adding an external destination; Dacast forwards the feed when the normal encoder stream starts.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room for the intended event. Check whether YouTube shows an incoming preview or a specific error. For a scheduled stream, an incoming preview does not necessarily mean the event is already public; YouTube’s encoder workflow includes a Go live step when the creator is ready.
A live Dacast Preview narrows the likely break to the saved destination or YouTube’s side; an absent preview points first to encoder-to-Dacast ingest. That is a diagnostic inference from the documented workflow, not a guarantee.
Fix the error shown in YouTube Live Control Room
Invalid or incorrect stream key
Make sure the key in Dacast belongs to the intended YouTube event or stream configuration and is current. If YouTube reports an invalid key, its live-stream troubleshooting guide advises obtaining a new key and updating the encoder. In a Dacast-forwarded workflow, update the YouTube destination key in Dacast—not the encoder’s Dacast ingest key—then save and test again.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Connection timeout or SSL/RTMPS error
First determine which service is making the failing connection. In a direct-to-YouTube workflow, YouTube’s RTMPS guidance says to check the server URL and whether the encoder supports RTMPS. Do not blindly replace the server URL in a Dacast-forwarded setup: the encoder connects to Dacast there, and Dacast is the service forwarding to YouTube.
Preview arrives, but the event is not live
If the stream is scheduled, look for YouTube’s incoming preview and follow the event’s remaining Live Control Room steps, including Go live when required. A feed reaching YouTube and an event being published are separate stages.

Distinguish Dacast Simulcast from direct YouTube streaming
| Workflow | What the encoder connects to | Where YouTube is configured | What to check first |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dacast Simulcast | Dacast’s current publishing/server URL and stream key | Dacast channel’s Engagement/Simulcast destination settings, using the YouTube stream key | Dacast Preview, then the saved destination and YouTube Live Control Room |
| Direct YouTube encoder stream | YouTube’s server URL and stream key | In the encoder and the intended YouTube event | YouTube Live Control Room preview, key, and connection error |
Use the row matching your actual setup. If you are forwarding through Dacast, YouTube’s direct-encoder connection advice may not apply to the encoder-to-Dacast link.
When the feed is still missing
If Dacast Preview is live and the saved YouTube destination still receives no feed, collect the details before contacting platform support. This makes it easier to identify which side of the handoff needs attention.
