No—not just because you can play the songs in Spotify. Spotify access does not give you permission to rebroadcast its music on YouTube. You need the rights required for a YouTube livestream, and YouTube may interrupt a stream when it detects third-party content. A Spotify subscription, artist credit, or “no copyright intended” disclaimer does not replace those rights.
Why Spotify access is not a YouTube music license
Spotify’s US Terms and Conditions grant “limited, non-exclusive, revocable permission to make personal, non-commercial use of the Spotify Service and the Content.” Spotify also describes its content as licensed, not sold or transferred. Its support guidance says the service is for personal, non-commercial use and cannot be broadcast or played publicly from a business. Spotify’s Terms and Conditions and Spotify’s public and commercial use guidance do not establish permission to retransmit songs in a YouTube radio stream.
This is separate from whether the stream runs continuously, earns money, or credits the musicians. YouTube puts the responsibility on the person providing a livestream to have the necessary rights. Its terms explicitly include music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers—including public-performance rights—and other royalty participants, and require applicable licenses to be maintained for the stream’s duration and territory. YouTube’s livestream terms state that the streamer represents they have those rights.
What can happen if you stream Spotify music anyway?
YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content. If it identifies content, it may replace the video with a placeholder, warn you, or interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube says that even creators who have licensed third-party content should ask the rights owner to add their channel to its Content ID allowlist; without that, a stream can still be interrupted. YouTube’s guidance on live-streaming restrictions explains the scan and allowlisting issue.

Crediting the artist or adding a disclaimer does not clear the rights. Nor does the fact that a song is available to listen to in Spotify. A long-running stream does not change these requirements; it means you need rights that cover the continuous use you plan to make.
What rights do you need for music in a continuous YouTube stream?
A track can involve more than one set of rights. The sound recording is commonly controlled by a record label, while the underlying musical composition may be administered by publishers, performing-rights organizations, or collecting societies. The relevant owners and administrators can vary by track and territory. YouTube’s copyright guidance distinguishes sound recordings from compositions.

Before using a track, get written confirmation that your permission covers the actual use—not just listening, a short video, or a one-time event. Check these points with the rights holder or licensor:
- Livestreaming on YouTube, including continuous or 24/7 playback.
- The countries or territories where the stream will be available.
- The sound recording and the underlying composition, as applicable.
- Monetization and use in any archived or replayed video, if you want those uses.
- Content ID allowlisting for your channel, and the process and timing for putting it in place.
A license does not guarantee that YouTube’s automated systems will leave a stream uninterrupted. Confirm allowlisting with the rights owner and keep the license documentation.

Where can you get music that is suitable for a 24/7 YouTube radio stream?
Original music
Music you created may be an option, but check whether anyone else contributed or holds relevant rights—for example, a co-writer, performer, label, or publisher. Make sure the permissions cover continuous livestreaming and any other use you plan, such as monetized playback or an archive.
YouTube Audio Library
YouTube recommends its Audio Library as a source of music and sound effects for creators. Read the terms for each track and confirm that they cover your intended continuous livestream use and any territory, monetization, or archive requirements. YouTube’s general guidance on using music and sound effects from the Audio Library does not mean every track should be assumed to cover every use.

Third-party licensed music
A music catalog or a direct license from a rights holder can work only if the specific permission covers your use. Check the track-level grant, territory, relevant rights, continuity, and Content ID allowlisting rather than relying on labels such as “copyright-free” or “royalty-free.” Those terms alone do not show that a license covers a 24/7 YouTube livestream.
YouTube Creator Music
Creator Music is not a route for clearing livestream music. YouTube’s current Creator Music FAQ says it does not support licensing for live content; its track-use guidance describes eligible Creator Music tracks as being for long-form videos, not livestreams.

Could a Spotify Premium account, credit, or non-monetized stream make it okay?
No. Spotify access does not itself grant broadcast rights, and YouTube’s livestream terms require the streamer to have the necessary music permissions. Not monetizing or naming the artist does not satisfy that requirement. Whether a particular use is permitted depends on the rights and permissions for the tracks and territories involved; platform guidance is not individualized legal advice.
