You can schedule a YouTube Live event in YouTube Studio, connect an encoder with that event’s stream URL and key, and send a planned rotation of regional music to it. The harder parts are clearing the rights for every recording and the underlying songs, then keeping the broadcast monitored and recoverable. YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so make an independent recording if you need a complete archive.
Before you schedule: clear the music for this specific use
Do not start with a playlist of songs you happen to own, have downloaded, or can find in a rights-society database. A released recording can involve distinct rights in the sound recording and in the underlying musical and literary work. The relevant permission depends on who controls each right and whether that permission covers your actual broadcast.
Check both rights layers
- Sound recording: identify the label or other party that controls the master recording and ask whether it can authorize continuous YouTube livestreaming.
- Composition and lyrics: identify the party or parties controlling the musical and literary works. IPRS administers works controlled on behalf of its members; that does not establish that it controls every composition or every right needed for a recording.
Ask each relevant rights holder for written terms that explicitly cover YouTube livestreaming, the territory, duration, continuous broadcast, monetization, and any reporting or attribution requirements. An event or on-premises public-performance licence is not proof that online use is included.
What IPRS and PPL information does—and does not—tell you
IPRS says its repertoire database contains more than 600,000 titles, is continually updated, and may not be exhaustive. A missing entry is not evidence that a song is free to use. IPRS describes its licence as “usually a blanket License for a moderate annual or other charge”; its stated scope is works it controls for its members, not automatic clearance of every recording and right in your programme. Check directly whether its current terms apply to your proposed stream.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
PPL says its library includes regional recordings in languages including Bengali, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu. That breadth does not mean a PPL public-performance licence covers a YouTube broadcast. PPL’s FAQ states: “PPL does not issue license for usage of sound recordings on a digital platform. You will have to reach out to individual music labels for the same.” PPL also distinguishes digital use from on-ground uses in its tariff information. Do not use an event tariff as the price or proof of clearance for a YouTube channel.
For each track, keep a rights log with the title, recording owner or label, composition and lyric rights information, permission evidence, covered platform and use, territory, term, monetization conditions, and attribution requirements. IPRS’s FY 2024–25 annual report records ₹602.4 crore in digital streaming income, compared with ₹378.0 crore in FY 2023–24; those industry figures do not establish permission for any particular track or channel.

Plan a regional rotation and a visual programme
Organize the catalogue for listeners and for maintenance
Group tracks into clearly labelled regional or language blocks, then order each block deliberately. Keep the playlist and rights log aligned: if you replace a recording or add a track, check its clearance before it enters the rotation. Avoid relying on a single very long file as the only copy of the programme; individual track files or smaller labelled blocks make it easier to locate a failed file or remove a track if a rights issue arises.
Choose what viewers see
An audio-led radio stream still needs a video signal. Prepare a still or animated visual appropriate to the channel, and confirm that the encoder receives stable audio as well as video. YouTube’s guidance supports encoder-based delivery but does not require a particular software package or hardware unit for this kind of stream.

Schedule the YouTube Live event and connect an encoder
- Create the scheduled event: in YouTube Studio, choose Create → Go Live, open the Manage tab, and select Schedule Stream. Enter the viewer-facing title, description, thumbnail, visibility, and start time. Scheduling creates a watch page you can share in advance and lets viewers opt into reminders.
- Keep the key private: open the event in Live Control Room and copy its stream URL and stream key into your encoder’s YouTube destination settings. Treat the key like a credential: do not post it or include it in public screenshots. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Set the encoder for your source: choose the prepared audio input and visual, then use encoder settings supported by YouTube for your chosen delivery setup. YouTube’s guidance does not establish a universally correct bitrate, resolution, or frame rate for every source and connection; follow the current settings shown in YouTube’s Live Control Room and ensure your upload connection can sustain the selected output.
- Start early and check the preview: YouTube recommends setting up an encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes beforehand. Use those event-oriented timings as a launch routine: confirm that Live Control Room receives the signal, inspect the watch page, listen for clean audio, and confirm that the local recording is growing before the intended start.
- Go live and monitor: once the incoming preview and programme are correct, start the event as directed in Live Control Room. Monitor the stream and the encoder rather than assuming a successful initial connection will continue indefinitely.
Software or hardware encoder?
YouTube recognizes both software and hardware encoders. A computer running encoder software can be enough for an audio-led stream; dedicated hardware is an option when it suits the production and operating plan, not a universal requirement. Compare choices by supported YouTube ingest workflow, stability, restart and backup capability, monitoring, local recording, and total cost. Check current YouTube support and the device’s continuous-operation requirements before buying hardware.
Make a 24/7 operation recoverable
A scheduled event and a working encoder are only the start of continuous broadcasting. Decide who or what checks the stream and what happens when a component fails. YouTube recommends testing and describes checking backup-encoder failover; the exact recovery design depends on your setup.

- Encoder crash: know how the encoder will be restarted and who will notice if it does not reconnect.
- Power or internet loss: assess whether the equipment and connection at the broadcast location can withstand interruptions, and define a fallback or restart procedure.
- Scheduled event ends: check how your chosen event and encoder behave at the scheduled end, and arrange the next event or restart rather than assuming one scheduled event will run indefinitely.
- Music file fails: keep the rotation organized and check playback so a missing, damaged, or silent file does not go unnoticed.
- Rights complaint: keep permission records accessible and have a procedure to pause or remove affected material while you resolve the issue with the relevant rights holder.
- Archive is incomplete: record locally or use another independent archive process if you need the full broadcast. YouTube says, “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.”
Troubleshoot common launch and continuity problems
| Symptom | Likely cause to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Live Control Room receives no signal | The encoder has the wrong event’s stream URL or key, or has not started sending. | Open the intended scheduled event, verify the encoder destination against its Live Control Room details, and reconnect. Replace an exposed key before continuing. |
| Preview appears, but there is no sound | The encoder may be using the wrong audio input, or the source may be silent. | Check the selected input and source playback locally, then verify audio in the incoming preview before going live. |
| Audio or video quality is unstable | The source, encoder output, or available upload connection may not sustain the selected output. | Check the encoder and Live Control Room status, verify the source is stable, and choose settings your connection can maintain consistently. |
| The broadcast stops after operating continuously | Power, network, encoder, file playback, or the scheduled event may have failed. | Use the recovery procedure you prepared to identify which part stopped, restore it, and confirm the preview before resuming. |
| The archive is missing or incomplete | The stream exceeded YouTube’s stated 12-hour capture limit, or the local recording did not run correctly. | Check the independent recording process and its output; do not rely on YouTube as the sole archive for a 24/7 broadcast. |
