You can run a 24/7 YouTube stream from India with Castr by uploading videos to a cloud pre-recorded stream, arranging them as a playlist, choosing Loop, and connecting YouTube as the destination. Your computer does not need to stay on for this uploaded-video workflow. For a repeating playlist, use Castr’s Pre-Recorded Stream; for a lineup with timed programs, use TV Playout. Check your Castr plan’s current loop, storage, and playlist limits before building the channel.
Before you start: check YouTube eligibility and clear your content
- Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s published eligibility guidance also sets a minimum age of 16 for live streaming. YouTube live-streaming eligibility.
- Confirm you have the rights to every video and audio track in the playlist, including the necessary music licensing rights. You remain responsible for YouTube Community Guidelines and applicable laws. YouTube Terms of Service.
- Decide whether the stream should repeat one playlist continuously or follow a schedule of programs. Castr’s loop feature and TV Playout serve different programming needs.
- Check the current Castr plan matrix and the limits shown in your account for loop availability, file size, file count, storage, video duration, and concurrent streams. These vary by subscription and can change.
Choose the right Castr mode

For either cloud workflow, uploaded media is played by Castr; you do not need a local encoder running for the playlist itself. A live camera, overlays, scenes, or switching require a separate live-ingest workflow with an encoder, rather than the uploaded-video steps below.
Set up the repeating 24/7 playlist
- Open Castr and create a Pre-Recorded Stream. In the Castr dashboard, start a new pre-recorded stream. The exact dashboard labels can change; use Castr’s current prerecorded-stream guide if the interface differs.
- Upload the videos. Castr’s prerecorded upload documentation specifies MP4 support. You can upload files or select recordings already in the Castr library. Account-level file size and count limits depend on your subscription. Castr prerecorded-stream guide.
- Arrange the playlist. Put items in the order you want viewers to see them. Confirm the sequence and playback behavior in the preview before going live.
- Choose Loop. Enable looping for a repeating playlist. Infinite looping is not listed as available on every Castr tier, so verify that your plan includes it if the channel must run continuously.
- Add YouTube as the destination. Castr documents connecting a YouTube event through its API or manually entering YouTube’s streaming server and stream key. If you enter the key manually, copy it from the intended YouTube Live Control Room event and keep it private. Make sure the YouTube destination is enabled in Castr. Castr YouTube connection guide.
- Test privately or as unlisted. Start a test stream with a private or unlisted YouTube event. Check Castr’s preview and input health, then confirm the video and audio arrive correctly on YouTube before making the broadcast public. Castr stream-testing guide.
- Start the stream and verify from a viewer device. Open the YouTube watch page on a separate device or browser, confirm playback, and check the channel from the viewer’s perspective.
Schedule a lineup with TV Playout
Use TV Playout rather than a single repeating playlist when you need programs at defined times. Create the lineup in Castr TV Playout, add the media and schedule entries, then send the playout into a Castr livestream with YouTube as a distribution destination. Consult Castr’s current plan limits for the number of files, their size and duration, and any schedule or concurrent-stream restrictions. Castr TV Playout guide.
Castr states that schedule times use the device’s time zone. When scheduling from India, set the dashboard device to India Standard Time (IST, UTC+05:30) and double-check the displayed date and time before saving. The reviewed documentation does not specify a separate India-only Castr setup or destination configuration.

Choose upload quality and check the result
Castr’s recorded-video recommendations for YouTube or Facebook delivery are an average video bitrate of 1,500–2,500 Kbps and AAC audio at 128 Kbps. These are Castr’s stated recommendations, not a guarantee that every source file or destination will look or sound the same. Test a representative upload and inspect the received output before adding the rest of the playlist. Castr recorded-video encoding recommendations.
Those recorded-file recommendations are distinct from settings for a live encoder. If you are sending a live camera or other external production into Castr, its published live-ingest guidance recommends H.264 video, CBR, AAC or MP3 audio, and a two-second keyframe interval; bitrate depends on resolution and frame rate. Do not treat live-ingest settings as prerequisites for the uploaded-file loop.

Test, monitor, and plan for interruptions
- Use a private or unlisted test to catch playlist order, audio, destination, and key errors before a public launch. YouTube also advises checking the preview and monitoring the received audio and video. Castr stream-testing guide.
- After launch, check the YouTube player and the Castr dashboard rather than assuming a successful schedule guarantees uninterrupted viewing. Cloud playout does not establish guaranteed YouTube availability or zero downtime.
- For an uploaded playlist, a home computer or home internet connection is not the source of the stream. Network bandwidth headroom and local-encoder checks matter for a physical live-camera workflow, not for leaving a PC online to play uploaded files.
Understand the archive limit and keep your own copies
YouTube says it can automatically archive a live stream if it is less than 12 hours; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A 24/7 broadcast should therefore not be treated as one dependable YouTube replay. Keep your original media files or arrange a separate recording workflow if you need preserved copies. Troubleshoot common setup problems
