To run spoken English lessons on YouTube around the clock, create an encoder-based YouTube Live broadcast and feed it prerecorded lessons from OBS or a hosted playout service. First enable live streaming for your channel, then prepare and test a lesson sequence, connect an encoder with your YouTube stream URL and key, and plan how you will handle interruptions and replays. A single stream lasting more than 12 hours may not be archived by YouTube.
Check that your channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time live-streaming enablement can take up to 24 hours, so confirm access before announcing a launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions.
Prepare lessons for viewers joining at any time
Build a sequence that makes sense even when someone arrives partway through: for example, rotate between short listening exercises, pronunciation practice, vocabulary, and grammar explanations, with clear on-screen labels. Make the recordings and visuals your own or confirm you have the rights to use them. A USB microphone can help when recording original spoken lessons, but prerecorded playback does not require a microphone to stay connected during the broadcast.
For a continuous channel, decide whether lessons should repeat in a fixed order and how viewers will know what they are hearing. Captions or visible prompts can make exercises easier to follow, especially when a viewer joins mid-lesson.

Choose a way to keep the lesson playing
OBS on a local computer
OBS is a no-charge software encoder listed by YouTube. It gives you direct control over sources and output, but the computer, playback, power, and network connection must remain available for the broadcast to continue. YouTube’s encoder directory includes OBS and other software and hardware options.
Hosted continuous playout
YouTube’s verified-encoder directory also lists hosted services described for 24/7 prerecorded-video streams. These can avoid tying playback to a computer at home. Compare supported file formats, restart behavior, monitoring, price, and how the service handles your stream key. The fact that a service appears in a directory does not establish that it is more reliable or better value than another option.

Set up OBS for a local broadcast
- Install and configure OBS. Use the Auto-Configuration Wizard as a starting point, then check the selected output settings against your computer and internet connection.
- Create a scene. Add the lesson video and any supporting visuals or text as sources. Confirm that the video plays correctly and that the audio source is the one you intend to broadcast.
- Check audio. Play a lesson and watch the OBS audio meters. Listen for clear speech and make sure the level is not muted or distorted.
- Check output and test. Confirm the scene and output settings, then run a private or otherwise suitable short test before the public broadcast. OBS recommends testing for a few minutes rather than starting an untested first stream; see its Quick Start Guide.
Connect the encoder to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live and create or schedule a stream in Live Control Room.
- Copy the YouTube Live server URL and stream key into the encoder’s stream settings. YouTube’s instruction is direct: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.”
- Start the encoder. For a scheduled stream, check the Live Control Room preview and follow its prompts to go live.
- Keep the stream key private. It grants access to the broadcast; do not publish it or include it in a visible screenshot.

Test the viewer experience and plan monitoring
Before sharing the stream, check that the lesson video plays, speech is intelligible, the correct audio source is active, on-screen text is readable, and YouTube is receiving the stream. Decide who will notice an interruption and what they should do if playback or the connection stops. Documentation does not guarantee uninterrupted uptime, so do not treat an unmonitored local setup as fail-proof.
Plan replays before choosing a 24-hour session
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If replay access matters, use separate broadcasts shorter than 12 hours or record a local backup. Separate sessions affect the watch-page and session structure, so tell viewers how the schedule works. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.

Keep lessons original and rights-cleared
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams. The channel’s lessons should offer original, useful teaching rather than a repetitive loop of material that viewers can find elsewhere. YouTube says reused material needs significant original commentary, modification, or educational or entertainment value to meet its reused-content policy; having permission to use material does not by itself make it eligible for monetization. Its policy page notes a July 15, 2025 clarification that repetitive or mass-produced content falls under its “inauthentic content” policy. Check rights for readings, worksheets, music, sound effects, and visuals independently. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
