You can use FFmpeg to loop an authorized Indian music playlist and send it to YouTube, but FFmpeg alone does not make a stream 24/7. Your computer or server, internet connection, output recovery, YouTube channel eligibility, and music rights all have to hold up. This guide walks through the setup and the failure points to plan for.
Before you start: clear the music and enable YouTube live streaming
Confirm rights for continuous live use
Use only recordings and visuals you have permission to broadcast. YouTube’s livestream terms require the content provider to hold the necessary rights for live content worldwide, including music licensing rights involving artists, record labels, publishers and other participants (YouTube Livestream terms and conditions). The rights you need depend on the territories, uses and participants covered by your permissions; this is not a determination of Indian or other local legal requirements.
Permission to download a song, crediting its creator, or a license for ordinary videos does not automatically authorize continuous live broadcasting. Check whether your permission covers live streaming, relevant territories, duration, monetization and archived playback. Also ask whether the rights holder must allowlist your YouTube channel: YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and a stream can be replaced or interrupted, or terminated if the content remains. Even a licensed track may need allowlisting (YouTube Help: live stream restrictions).
YouTube says Creator Music does not support licensing for live content. Its suggested alternatives include original music, the Audio Library, or third-party music whose license terms you have checked for the intended use. A label such as “free” is not proof that a track is cleared for a continuous livestream (Creator Music FAQ).

Check your channel’s eligibility
YouTube’s getting-started guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days to enable live streaming. Check the current status and instructions in your own YouTube Studio account, since platform requirements can change (Get started with live streaming).
Plan the stream before writing an FFmpeg command
FFmpeg is a media engine: it reads inputs, optionally processes or encodes them, packages the output and sends it to an ingest endpoint. A continuous music stream typically needs the following pieces:

- Authorized media: one file to repeat or a playlist of files. Mixed formats and stream parameters can affect how they can be combined.
- A video track: if the destination expects video, provide a still image or another visual source and pair it with the audio. A music-only file does not itself provide a video picture.
- Output settings: choose audio/video codecs and a container compatible with the destination. Whether you can copy streams without re-encoding depends on the input formats and destination requirements.
- Ingest details: obtain the server or ingest URL and private stream key from YouTube Studio. Keep the key secret; anyone with access to it may be able to broadcast to your channel.
- An always-on host and connection: FFmpeg must keep running on a computer or server with a working network connection. The FFmpeg documentation describes streaming workflows, but does not establish a minimum hardware specification for a particular setup (FFmpeg documentation).
Do not treat a command found online as universally suitable. Input formats, audio/video mapping, encoding choices and YouTube’s current ingest settings matter. First test with media you are authorized to use and confirm that the result appears correctly in YouTube Studio.
Build a looping FFmpeg stream
Prepare a playlist or loopable input
Start with a small, known-good set of authorized files. If you want one input repeated, FFmpeg’s -stream_loop option controls input looping; the official manual documents it as an input option (FFmpeg advanced options). For a playlist, use a playlist/input arrangement that matches your files and test transitions before relying on it continuously. Do not assume that different media files can be concatenated or stream-copied cleanly when their codecs, sample rates, channel layouts or other parameters differ.

Pair music with video and configure output
If using a still image, make it available as a video input and map it alongside the playlist audio. Decide whether to encode the audio/video or copy compatible streams, then configure the output container and codecs for the destination. The exact command depends on those choices, so there is no single safe universal command for all playlists and YouTube account settings. Consult the FFmpeg documentation for input, mapping, encoding and RTMP output syntax (FFmpeg documentation).
Send to the YouTube ingest endpoint
In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and retrieve its ingest URL and stream key using the current interface. Use those details as the FFmpeg output destination and authentication key. Do not paste a real key into a public tutorial, shared log, screenshot or command history visible to others. After starting FFmpeg, check the Studio preview and stream health before making the broadcast public or leaving it unattended.

Keep the process alive and recover from failures
Looping is not reconnection
-stream_loop repeats input; it does not repair an interrupted connection. FFmpeg documents protocol-specific reconnect options for certain network protocols, and its all-options manual includes an RTMP/FIFO example for output recovery (FFmpeg protocol documentation; FFmpeg all-options documentation). Retry behavior varies by protocol. An output reconnect also does not guarantee that YouTube will resume the same live session in every situation.
Supervise the host, not just FFmpeg
A 24/7 stream needs the host to stay powered, the network to remain available and the FFmpeg process to continue running. Use a process supervisor or equivalent restart procedure, retain logs, and monitor whether the process and broadcast are actually healthy. Test what happens after a network drop, host restart and YouTube-side interruption before depending on the setup. A restart can require renewed attention in YouTube Studio; do not assume a repeated input loop makes the whole chain fault-proof.

Troubleshooting common failures
- YouTube does not accept the broadcast: check channel eligibility, ingest URL, stream key and the current YouTube Studio status. If the key was exposed, replace it in Studio and update the FFmpeg configuration.
- Audio plays but the picture is missing: verify that a video input exists and is mapped to the output as well as the audio input; check the Studio preview.
- The playlist stops at the end: confirm that the loop option is applied to the intended input, or verify the playlist construction and its end-of-file behavior. Input looping and network reconnect are separate concerns.
- The stream drops and does not return: inspect FFmpeg logs and network availability, then test the protocol-appropriate reconnect or FIFO recovery behavior. Restarting FFmpeg may not restore the YouTube session automatically.
- The stream is interrupted or replaced: investigate YouTube’s third-party-content notice. Verify live-use and territory rights, and ask the rights holder about channel allowlisting if the track is licensed.
- Files fail when the playlist changes tracks: inspect whether the inputs differ in codecs or stream parameters. Rework the playlist or encode compatible output rather than assuming stream copy will work across unlike files.
Estimate the practical cost of DIY
FFmpeg itself is software, but a self-managed 24/7 setup still requires an always-on computer or rented server, network access and time to supervise and recover it. The sources do not establish a required hardware tier, bandwidth figure, energy use or tested uptime, so estimate these for your own files, location and hosting arrangement rather than relying on a generic number. A local mini PC is one possible host, not a universally specified requirement.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want YouTube to keep playing uploaded recordings without leaving a home computer on, StreamNeo is a cloud option. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting from a camera, and streams to YouTube only.
- Nothing has to stay on at home; the stream runs from the cloud.
- Your upload streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot with no re-encode or quality tiers.
- Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card, once per account.
The Monthly price is $9.99 per month. Check that your music rights cover the broadcast before uploading. Start your free StreamNeo day.
