In OBS Studio, add an Image source for your logo and a Text source for the song title, then place both above your background in the Sources list. OBS does not automatically detect the current song from every player: update the title yourself, connect a text file that you keep current, or build a browser overlay with a separate working source of track data.
Build the OBS scene
- Create or select a scene. In OBS, choose an existing scene or add one for the music stream.
- Add the background first. Add the visual background you want viewers to see.
- Add the logo. In Sources, select + and add an Image source. Choose the logo file. If the artwork should sit directly over the background without a rectangular box, use an image with a transparent background.
- Add the song label. Select + and add a Text source. Enter the current song title, or configure the source to read from a file as described below.
- Position and layer the elements. Resize and move the logo and title in the preview. In the Sources list, put them above the background; sources higher in the list appear in front of lower ones.
Choose a legible font, use enough contrast against the background, and leave a margin from the screen edges so the logo and title are easy to see.
Choose how the song title updates
Type the title directly in OBS
Edit the Text source whenever the track changes. This is the simplest option when someone is actively operating the stream, but it requires a person to keep the displayed title in sync with playback.
Read the title from a text file
In the Text source properties, enable Read from file and select the text file containing the title. When the track changes, update the file. OBS can display the file’s text, but this setup does not provide the process that changes the file; you or a separate tool must do that. If the file is not updated, the displayed title will be stale.

Use a custom browser overlay
An OBS Browser source can display a web page designed as a track overlay. The page still needs a reliable way to receive the current track data. Treat that integration as a separate setup task: test track changes, missing metadata, long titles, non-Latin scripts such as Hindi, and what the overlay does after a reconnection. A browser source alone does not make OBS identify the song.
Set up the music playback
For one looping recording
OBS’s Media Source plays an individual media file and has its own loop setting. Use it when the stream’s visual and audio playback is based on one file. Check that the source’s audio reaches the stream and that the displayed title describes what is actually playing.

For a playlist
OBS’s VLC Video source supports multiple media items, playlist controls, shuffle, and a Loop Playlist option, which the OBS guide documents as on by default. VLC must be installed for this source to be available; the OBS guide specifies 64-bit VLC when using 64-bit OBS. A loop setting repeats media, but it is not a guarantee of uninterrupted unattended streaming.
For either playback method, verify the audio in OBS’s mixer and check that the title follows the item actually playing. A normal Text source does not automatically read song titles from VLC or a playlist.

Test the stream before leaving it running
- Run OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard as a starting point for your setup.
- Play the media and watch the audio mixer to confirm the intended audio source is active.
- Check the output settings and make a short test stream before the real broadcast. OBS’s Quick Start Guide calls testing stream settings “one of the most important things to do before you start streaming for the first time.”
- For continuous broadcasting, arrange independent monitoring and decide how you will restore playback and reconnect if the stream stops. A scene, playlist loop, or other single OBS setting does not by itself establish 24/7 reliability.
Check music rights for an Indian online stream
Displaying a song title or having a licence for on-ground playback does not, by itself, establish permission to stream a recording online. PPL India says its on-ground sound-recording licence does not cover digital use and directs digital users to individual labels. IPRS describes licensing for online streaming platforms for its repertoire and/or payment of authors’ royalties for its members. The applicable rights depend on the recordings, underlying compositions, platform, territory, and agreements involved. Ask the relevant rights holders and qualified Indian counsel about your specific operation; an on-ground or terrestrial-radio licence should not be assumed to cover an internet stream.
