First check which OBS counter is rising: network-dropped frames call for connection troubleshooting; rendering lag or encoder overload call for reducing the computer’s workload. For an India-based meditation channel, test the actual route and connection at your location rather than assuming a nationwide ISP problem.
Identify which OBS problem you have
Open OBS’s status bar or Statistics window while the stream is running, then check the OBS log after a test. OBS Project defines dropped frames as a connection instability or bitrate-capacity problem between your computer and the remote server; it says this is extremely unlikely to be caused by OBS itself. OBS’s connection troubleshooting guide was dated 2024-09-30.
- Network-dropped frames: The connection indicator may turn yellow or red, and the network-dropped counter rises. Investigate the route to the ingest server and whether your upload can sustain the configured bitrate.
- Rendering lag: OBS is struggling to compose the scene, often because of GPU load or complex sources.
- Encoding overload: The encoder cannot keep up with the selected output settings. This is a host-performance issue, not proof of a weak internet connection.
Viewer buffering is also not the same as broadcaster-side network-dropped frames. OBS notes viewers can buffer even when the broadcaster is not dropping frames; diagnose the OBS counter and YouTube’s stream-health information separately.
Test the ingest route, not just your speed-test result
Try a different ingest server in OBS and compare the dropped-frame behavior over matched test periods. Do not choose solely by ping or the server that appears geographically nearest: different ingest servers can use different network routes. Record which server you used and whether the counter rose.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
A speed test measures performance under its own test conditions. It does not prove that a continuous stream can sustain the same throughput to the selected ingest route at every hour. Shared uploads from other people or devices can also consume headroom, so test with your usual household or studio network activity in mind.
Choose a sustainable bitrate for the actual stream
Lower the video bitrate in Settings → Output, then monitor a meaningful test interval. OBS suggested using 75% of total upload speed as a starting point in its 2024 guidance. YouTube separately recommends leaving 20% room between total stream bitrate and available upload bandwidth. These are practical guides, not guarantees: the route, competing traffic, and consistency of the connection still matter.
For YouTube, use the current recommendation for your codec, resolution, and frame rate. The following are YouTube’s published recommended H.264 examples; they are not universal settings, and the platform’s AV1 and H.265 recommendations differ. Check YouTube’s current live encoder settings before changing codecs or output modes.

For YouTube’s documented encoder guidance, use constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval, and do not exceed four seconds. If you lower bitrate to stabilize delivery, check whether the resulting image still looks acceptable for your meditation visuals; a static scene may tolerate less bitrate than detailed motion, but test the actual loop rather than guessing.

Compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi
If you are streaming over Wi-Fi, test using Ethernet with other settings unchanged. OBS recommends a wired connection when Wi-Fi instability is suspected. If Ethernet improves the dropped-frame counter, troubleshoot the wireless path; if not, continue checking the route, upload load, and local equipment. A cable is a diagnostic change, not a fix for ISP congestion or ingest-side problems.
Check VPNs, security tools, and network utilities
Temporarily test whether a VPN or security product is interfering with the connection. If the test identifies one, restore security protections and configure an appropriate OBS exception rather than leaving protections disabled. Check whether bundled network-priority or “optimization” software is changing traffic handling, and test with it disabled only when you can safely restore the original configuration.

Inspect networking hardware and drivers
Check that the modem and router are operating normally, and inspect the Ethernet cable, network adapter, switches, or extenders if the evidence points to them. Restarting the modem or router can help isolate a local fault, but does not establish that the ISP route is stable. Check for current network drivers, especially if the problem began after a system or driver change.
OBS offers network optimizations and TCP pacing as Windows-only options. Dynamic bitrate can reduce dropped frames during congestion by lowering video quality; it mitigates the symptom rather than fixing the underlying route or capacity issue. If forcing IPv4 made no difference, return the IP-family setting to its default instead of keeping an unhelpful override. See the OBS connection guide for the current option names and steps.

- Try 30 fps instead of 60 fps if the stream does not need 60 fps; fewer frames can reduce workload.
- Simplify animated overlays, browser sources, filters, and other scene elements that are not needed for a long meditation loop.
- Avoid unnecessary 4K sources when the final output is smaller.
- Change one setting at a time and check the relevant OBS counter again. Do not assume a GPU upgrade is necessary without evidence of a rendering or encoding bottleneck.
Preflight and monitor a long-running meditation stream
Before relying on a 24/7 broadcast, run a representative test using the actual audio, visual motion, resolution, frame rate, and approximate bitrate. Watch OBS’s counters and the platform’s stream-health status after launch. YouTube’s Live Control Room provides stream-health status and real-time information; its help also recommends testing event preparation and backup-encoder failover. That guidance does not by itself establish a complete OBS-specific unattended recovery design.
A meditation stream usually does not need low latency unless you are interacting with viewers. YouTube notes that lower latency can increase buffering, so select a stable latency mode based on whether live interaction matters and observe actual playback. YouTube automatically transcodes live feeds into multiple output formats for viewers; that does not remove the need to deliver your feed reliably to ingest.
Keep a record of test times, the selected ingest server, bitrate, OBS log, and whether you were on Ethernet or Wi-Fi. If the stream will run continuously, monitor it after launch rather than treating one successful short test or bitrate choice as an uptime guarantee.

When to contact your ISP
If OBS’s connection checks do not resolve the issue, contact your ISP with timestamps, OBS logs, the ingest server used, wired-versus-Wi-Fi results, and whether another server or platform behaved differently. Ask them to investigate instability, congestion, or routing outside your home network. The available official guidance does not establish one characteristic internet problem across India or identify a preferred Indian ingest location; results need to be diagnosed at your connection and location.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is an always-on YouTube meditation stream and you would rather not keep a home computer online, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on; it supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and the first day is free with no card. The monthly option is $9.99 per month.
