You can reuse a YouTube stream key by creating a custom key in YouTube Studio and entering it in your encoder. The key is only a credential: it does not keep a broadcast live by itself. Your content source, encoder and connection still need to send the stream, and YouTube does not promise that one live event will run indefinitely.
What a reusable YouTube stream key does
A stream key lets an encoder connect a video feed to YouTube using the same credential again. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Keep yours private: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed through your stream setup. A reusable key is not a special 24/7 feature, nor is it the broadcast itself.
There is no separate India-only key-creation procedure in YouTube’s published setup guidance. The steps below use the general YouTube Studio workflow. YouTube’s live-stream settings help explains custom keys and resetting them; its encoder setup guide covers connecting an encoder.
Check that your channel can go live
- Your channel must be verified.
- Your channel must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- YouTube’s eligibility guidance sets a minimum age of 16 to live stream.
- First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
YouTube also lists limits of 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key. If you need more simultaneous streams, plan the keys and stream count around those limits.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Create a custom key and connect your encoder
- Open the live-stream setup. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live, then choose Stream.
- Create the reusable key. Under Select stream key, choose Create new stream key. Set the available options to suit your encoder and stream, then create the key. YouTube says the custom key will appear in the stream-key list so you can select it again later.
- Copy the connection details. In the stream settings, copy the YouTube stream URL and the stream key. Treat the key as a password; do not post it, include it in a public screenshot or share it with people who should not control the feed.
- Enter them in your encoder. Open the encoder’s YouTube or custom RTMP stream settings. Put the stream URL in the server or URL field and the key in the stream-key field. YouTube supports software encoders and standalone hardware encoders; dedicated hardware is optional.
- Start sending the feed and check Live Control Room. The encoder must be actively sending video for YouTube to receive a stream. Confirm that the incoming feed appears in Live Control Room before relying on it for a scheduled broadcast.
Schedule broadcasts separately from creating the key
A reusable key and a scheduled live event are different parts of the setup. To schedule a broadcast, open Live Control Room’s Manage tab and schedule a stream. YouTube also allows you to reuse settings from a prior stream. Scheduling an event does not make the encoder or video source run continuously.
What a 24/7 setup still needs
For a continuous channel, the encoder must keep sending content and the source must keep providing it. A reusable key saves you from creating a new credential for every connection; it does not supply video, restart a failed encoder or guarantee an uninterrupted YouTube event. YouTube’s setup guidance covers connecting, scheduling and ending streams, but does not promise that one live event will continue forever. Treat continuity as an operating plan: keep the source and encoder running, monitor Live Control Room for interruptions, and be ready to reconnect if needed.

Reset a key if it is exposed
- In YouTube Studio, select Go Live → Stream.
- Find Stream key and choose Reset.
- Replace the old key in every encoder using it with the new key, then confirm that the encoder reconnects.
YouTube says only channel owners or managers can reset a key. Resetting it invalidates the old credential, so update the encoder promptly or it will no longer be able to connect with the previous key.
Encoder choice: software or hardware
YouTube accepts both software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. Its setup guidance does not compare their cost, reliability or suitability for nonstop operation, so choose based on the encoder’s supported YouTube connection method and your own continuous-operation needs. No dedicated device is required simply to create or reuse a key.
