If YouTube Live keeps buffering on JioFiber, first set the player’s quality to Auto. If it still pauses, test a lower available resolution such as 720p or 480p, then compare the same stream over Wi-Fi and Ethernet if possible. A speed-test result alone cannot show whether the cause is your Wi-Fi, JioFiber service, YouTube delivery, your device, or the broadcaster’s stream.
For viewers, resolution is a playback setting—not a broadcaster bitrate target. The bitrate figures YouTube publishes are recommendations for creators sending video to YouTube, not minimum download speeds guaranteed to prevent buffering.
What to change first as a viewer
- Open the YouTube player’s Settings and Quality menu. Start with Auto so YouTube can adapt playback quality to conditions. Menu names and placement can differ by device.
- If buffering continues, select a lower fixed resolution supported by the stream and device, such as 720p or 480p, and observe whether playback becomes steadier. A lower setting can reduce the amount of video data needed, but it is not a guaranteed fix.
- Compare the same stream under the same conditions. Note whether the change helps on one device, several devices, or only at particular times. YouTube recommends checking connection speed and streaming quality in its playback troubleshooting guidance.
Do not enter a bitrate in the YouTube viewer: viewers generally choose playback quality, while the broadcaster configures encoder resolution, frame rate, and bitrate.
Why a fast speed test may not prevent live buffering
A speed test is a snapshot, not a diagnosis of every part of the route between your device and a live stream. YouTube notes that congestion and other factors can affect playback even when a network can sustain the stream’s average bitrate. The result can also differ by device, Wi-Fi conditions, time, or the individual broadcast.

Live latency matters too. YouTube explains that lower latency leaves less read-ahead buffer, making playback more vulnerable to interruptions. Its guidance says most low-latency viewers experience under 10 seconds of latency and most ultra-low-latency viewers under five seconds; these are general descriptions of YouTube’s modes, not promises for a particular stream or JioFiber connection. Neither low-latency nor ultra-low-latency mode supports 4K. If you are watching somebody else’s broadcast, you generally cannot change the stream’s latency mode. YouTube’s live-stream latency guide puts it plainly: “With lower latency, your viewers may experience more playback buffering.”
Test Wi-Fi against Ethernet
If your device has an Ethernet port and you can connect it to the router, watch the same stream over Ethernet and Wi-Fi. Keep the device, stream, and playback quality as similar as possible between tests. If Ethernet is steadier, that points toward a problem in the home Wi-Fi portion of the connection, such as weak coverage or interference. It does not establish that Wi-Fi is the only issue, or rule out device performance, congestion beyond the home, YouTube delivery, or a broadcaster-side problem.
Run JioFiber diagnostics in MyJio
If symptoms suggest a local service, router, or signal problem, use the diagnostics currently shown in MyJio for your JioFiber service. Jio says its checks can identify conditions such as slow speed, low signal, router offline, configuration errors, and device overload, and may suggest actions including restarting the router or improving Wi-Fi coverage. The available flow can depend on your account and device; Jio’s troubleshooting guidance describes the service checks.

For a Jio set-top box, Jio says diagnostics include connectivity status and video resolution. That set-top-box flow may not apply if you watch YouTube directly on a phone, computer, or other TV device.
Work out which part of the connection is affected
Before deciding that JioFiber is responsible, collect a few observations. They help separate a home-network issue from a problem affecting a particular device, service, or broadcast.

- Does the same stream buffer on one device or on several?
- Does lowering playback quality change the pauses?
- Does the same device behave differently on Wi-Fi and Ethernet?
- Do other YouTube videos or other streaming services have the same problem?
- Does it happen continuously or mainly at particular times?
- When available, what playback details appear in YouTube’s Stats for Nerds view?
Stats for Nerds can provide session-level clues, but there is no established Jio-specific threshold in the cited guidance that diagnoses a fault from those values alone. Share your observations with Jio support through its current official channel, or use YouTube’s playback feedback route when the symptoms point to YouTube playback. These checks cannot establish a routing, peering, or throttling fault without evidence from the affected location and session.

These are YouTube’s encoder recommendations for the stated codec, resolution, and frame rate—not a viewer download-speed requirement. YouTube says it transcodes incoming live streams into multiple output formats for viewers. See the current YouTube Live encoder settings and bitrates for the full settings and any changes.
If many viewers report buffering on one broadcast, the creator should inspect YouTube Live stream health and encoder output. The Google for Developers configuration-issues guide lists warnings including low video bitrate, frame-rate mismatch, missing audio, insufficient incoming video, and keyframes sent too infrequently. One warning says: “Currently, keyframes are not being sent often enough, which will cause buffering.” That is evidence to investigate the broadcast’s ingestion, not proof that an individual JioFiber viewer has an ISP fault.
