You can change a YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium membership through the paid-membership controls for the Google account you already use; the documented process does not ask you to create a new YouTube channel. If by “switch services” you mean moving playlists from another music app, that is a separate process—and a playlist transfer is not a channel or account migration. Before either change, confirm the Google account and selected YouTube channel shown in your app or browser.
First, identify what you want to switch
“YouTube loop streaming services” can mean a few different things. This guide covers the two account and music-library meanings supported by YouTube’s help instructions:
- Change your YouTube membership: change or upgrade YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium while using your existing Google account.
- Move a music library: transfer playlists from another music service to YouTube Music.
Neither is the same as changing a channel’s identity or settings. The cited instructions describe membership controls and playlist transfer; they do not guarantee that every channel-specific setting or account detail is unaffected in every configuration. Check the selected account and channel before proceeding.
Change or upgrade a YouTube membership
Use the membership page for the service you have
- Sign in to the Google account billed for the membership, then confirm the account and selected channel.
- If you have YouTube Premium, open the YouTube paid-memberships page. If you have YouTube Music Premium, open the YouTube Music paid-memberships page.
- Select Manage membership, then use the membership or payment-preference controls shown for your account to make the change.
- Review the resulting membership and billing details on screen. YouTube features and the available plans can vary by location, device, and operating system; use the offer and price displayed to you rather than assuming a particular plan is available.
YouTube’s instructions for changing from a family membership to an individual membership say the change applies across YouTube, YouTube Music, and YouTube Kids. They do not direct members to create a new channel to change membership. That is not a blanket guarantee covering every channel type or every account-specific setting. India: check recurring-payment verification
In India, YouTube says a recurring membership may prompt you to verify or re-enter payment details under RBI eMandate requirements. Whether recurring payments work can depend on your bank’s support. Follow the prompt presented in YouTube and check which account and payment provider is billing you. If you bought the membership through Apple, Google Play, or another partner, that provider may control cancellation or billing changes.
Check for overlapping Premium memberships
Before buying another plan, check what you already pay for. YouTube says YouTube Premium includes YouTube Music Premium benefits, so a separate Music Premium membership may be unnecessary if you already have Premium. A membership recently canceled may remain active until the end of its billing period, and a membership purchased through a partner may need to be canceled with that provider. Follow YouTube’s duplicate-membership instructions and verify the active billing source before starting another subscription.

Choose between Premium Lite and Premium in India
Google announced on 12 March 2026 that background play and downloads were rolling out for most videos on Premium Lite in India. That does not make Lite equivalent to YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium. Google distinguishes Premium as the option covering all videos ad-free, offline, and in the background, including music content and YouTube Music Premium benefits. The rollout wording is “most videos,” not all videos. Read the Google India announcement and check the specific plan details offered in your account.
To decide, compare whether you need ad-free access for all videos or most, background play and downloads, and music-specific benefits. Prices were not established in the cited material; check the membership screen for the price and billing terms shown to you.

Transfer playlists into YouTube Music
Apple Music: use YouTube Music’s direct transfer option
YouTube Music provides a direct playlist-transfer workflow for Apple Music. Start from YouTube Music’s transfer option and follow the on-screen steps to connect the source and destination accounts and select playlists. The available instructions and options may vary by account or region, so rely on the controls shown in your app.
Other services: expect a third-party transfer tool
For services without a direct transfer workflow—including Spotify and Amazon Music examples—YouTube says third-party tools may be able to transfer playlists, albums, artists, and tracks. Its help page names Soundiiz and Tune My Music as examples, but Google does not guarantee those services’ quality or have a formal relationship with them. Review the permissions requested and the provider’s terms before connecting accounts.

What transfers do not do
- A transfer can take several hours, and some tracks may fail to match. Check the destination playlists and repair missing or incorrect matches manually.
- Podcasts cannot be imported or exported through this process.
- Changes made in YouTube Music do not automatically sync back to the original service. Keep the source library if you may need it; the transfer is not ongoing two-way synchronization.
- A playlist transfer moves playlist information, not your YouTube channel, account, or subscription.

YouTube’s paid-service terms say Premium features vary by geography, device, and operating system. They also say a Premium service should be used from the country where the subscription was signed up; predominant use outside that country or misrepresenting the sign-up country may violate the terms and result in loss of access. If you move or travel, consult the YouTube Paid Service Terms rather than relying on a location workaround.

If “loop streaming” means keeping a YouTube live stream running
A recurring membership or playlist transfer does not keep a prerecorded video broadcasting as a YouTube live stream.
