What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Choose music only when its license clearly covers where and how you will use it: the live broadcast, VOD, clips, monetized uploads, and relevant territories. “Free,” “royalty-free,” purchased, or included with a game does not automatically mean you can rebroadcast it. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and may interrupt them; Twitch rules also prohibit sharing music without the necessary rights.
Start with the stream’s purpose and destination
Decide what the music should do
Music can set a mood, fill quiet moments, mark transitions, or be the focus of a music-led broadcast. For gameplay or spoken commentary, keep it low enough that speech and game audio remain clear. That is an audio-mix choice, not a platform copyright rule.
Plan for what happens after the live broadcast
Before selecting a track, list every intended use: Twitch, YouTube Live, or both; the live broadcast; an archived VOD; clips; and any repost or monetized upload. Permission for one platform or one format should not be assumed to cover another. A track licensed for a live broadcast, for example, may not be cleared for an archive or a clip.
Check the rights for the actual music
YouTube describes music as safe for use on YouTube when it is public domain or you have permission from the copyright owner. A free label or written credit alone does not establish permission, and Content ID may still flag a track described as free. The composition and a particular recording can also have different rights holders, so check the recording you plan to play, not just the song title. See YouTube’s Tips to find safe music.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Music you created: Confirm that you control the relevant rights in both the composition and recording, including any contributions from collaborators, performers, or samples.
- Public-domain music: Check the status of both the composition and the particular recording in the territories where you will stream. A public-domain composition does not necessarily make a modern recording public domain.
- Library music: Read the license for the specific track and plan. Confirm that live use, your platform, archives, clips, monetization, territories, and any attribution requirements are covered.
- Commercial releases or subscription services: Buying a download or paying for a listening subscription does not by itself establish the right to rebroadcast the music. Twitch’s DJ Program FAQ search-result excerpt makes this distinction; check the current terms for your account and territory.
- Game soundtracks: Check the current game EULA or official streaming policy. Some games provide a setting to disable music for streaming; if permission is unclear, turn it off when possible.
Compare music sources by license, not label
Use the same checks for original tracks, platform libraries, third-party libraries, and licensed commercial music. Do not treat a provider’s name or a “stream-safe” label as a substitute for the terms that apply to the track and your account.
| What to verify | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Platform coverage | Permission for YouTube does not automatically establish permission for Twitch, or vice versa. |
| Live, VOD, clips, and reposts | A live-use license may not include recorded or repurposed uses. |
| Territory | Rights can vary by country or region; a global audience may require broader coverage. |
| Monetization and attribution | Some licenses restrict revenue-generating uses or require credit. |
| Content ID and allowlisting | A licensed track can still trigger a platform match if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel or the claim-handling process is unclear. |
| Term changes or revocation | Keep a record of the license terms and permission that applied when you selected the track. |
| Fit and variety | Once rights are clear, choose tracks that suit the stream’s mood and leave speech or game audio intelligible. |
Keep a copy of the license, its date and version if available, the track and recording details, and any permission or allowlisting confirmation. This documentation helps you identify what you were authorized to use if a platform flags the audio.

YouTube Live: know what is and is not covered
Audio Library and third-party licenses
YouTube presents the Audio Library as its official option for copyright-safe music and sound effects in YouTube videos. For third-party tracks, verify the license rather than relying on a “free” description or credit line. YouTube also notes that music permitted in a Short may not be safe in a longer video.
Live scanning, interruptions, and archived streams
YouTube says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If third-party content remains after a warning, a live stream can be interrupted or terminated. Even when you have a license, YouTube says the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to prevent a live restriction. After a stream ends, its archive may receive a Content ID claim. Read Copyright issues with live streams and, where applicable, ask the owner about allowlisting before you go live.

Creator Music is not for livestreams
YouTube’s Creator Music usage details restrict its tracks to eligible long-form videos, not livestreams or Shorts. Licenses can also have territory and single-video limits. It is therefore not a solution for adding licensed Creator Music tracks to a live broadcast. Check Understand Creator Music usage details for the applicable use and territory restrictions.
Twitch: background and game music still need rights
Twitch’s Community Guidelines prohibit sharing music you do not own or have rights to share, including music playing in the background. Twitch’s November 11, 2020 guidance said not to play recorded music unless you own all rights or have the necessary rights-holder permissions, and advised checking a game’s EULA for in-game music. It named Soundstripe, Monstercat Gold, Chillhop, Epidemic Sound, and NCS as examples of rights-cleared library options at that time. Those dated examples are not confirmation of present availability, endorsement, or the current license scope of any service. Consult the current Twitch Community Guidelines, the music provider’s actual terms, and the current game policy.

A music-service subscription or a purchased CD or download does not, by itself, establish permission to share that music on Twitch. The Twitch DJ Program FAQ search excerpt also cautions that some rights arrangements may not cover streaming globally. Because the FAQ’s full page details are not established here, check its current terms and do not rely on a particular program rule without verifying it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Before going live: a practical rights and audio check
- Write down the planned uses. Note each destination and whether the stream will be archived, clipped, reposted, or monetized.
- Identify the exact track and recording. Record the title, version, performer or recording source, and the license or rights holder.
- Read the applicable terms. Confirm platform, live and recorded uses, territory, monetization, attribution, and any channel-registration or allowlisting conditions.
- Save proof. Keep the terms and permission confirmation with the track details; ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting if YouTube restrictions are possible.
- Check game audio separately. Review the game’s EULA or official streaming policy and disable soundtrack music if rights are uncertain and the game supports it.
- Test the mix and recording route. Confirm that commentary and game sound are audible, and check what will be present in the live output and any recording or VOD. Muting music from a VOD can reduce archive exposure, but it does not create permission to broadcast that music live.
Common problems and what to do
YouTube warns about or interrupts the stream
A third-party match may be detected during the broadcast. Follow the platform warning and remove or mute the matched content; do not assume a track described as free will avoid matching. If you have a license, contact the rights holder about the channel allowlist and keep the permission record. YouTube can still claim an archived stream after it ends.

A licensed track still triggers Content ID
A license and platform matching are separate issues. Check whether the license covers the exact recording, platform, territory, live use, and archive. Then ask the owner whether your channel must be allowlisted and follow the platform’s claim process. Do not treat an unverified library label as proof that claims cannot happen.
You are unsure whether game music is covered
Check the current EULA or the publisher’s official streaming policy. If it does not clearly permit your use, disable the soundtrack or mute that audio source when the game allows it.
The track is cleared for one platform but you stream to two
Verify both platforms and all intended formats separately. A license or platform library that covers one destination does not automatically grant rights for the other.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your plan is a YouTube channel that continuously loops pre-recorded music videos, StreamNeo can keep that stream running from the cloud: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It is for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only. You still need music rights that cover the stream and any intended archive or reuse; cloud playback does not change copyright permissions.
