With Cross Clip, you can import a Twitch, YouTube, or Kick clip link—or a video from your phone—then trim and arrange the clip, choose export settings, and share the result from the app. The exact controls can vary by app version or account, so check the options shown in your app before you compile.
How to edit a clip in Cross Clip on your phone
- Open Cross Clip and add your source. Paste a supported Twitch, YouTube, or Kick clip URL, or upload a video file stored on your phone. Cross Clip’s mobile guide describes both routes.
- Trim and arrange the clip. Shorten the video, add or rearrange layers, then select a preset layout or start from scratch. If you use a layout, position its content boxes so the important action remains visible in the finished frame. The documented controls cover trimming and layers; they do not establish support for effects, captions, stickers, or transitions.
- Choose compile settings. Select the available frame rate and output resolution in the app. The app listing describes 720p or 1080p output, while Cross Clip’s plans page lists 1080p/60fps for Pro; do not assume every resolution and frame-rate combination is available on every plan.
- Compile, review, and share. Compile the edit, then use the app to view, download, delete, or share the resulting clip. Cross Clip names TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube as direct sharing destinations. Check the finished video before posting to confirm the crop and framing work for the destination.
Free and Pro: what the listed plans include
Cross Clip’s plans page lists Free at $0 and Pro at $4.99 per month. The published features and limits below can change, so check the current plans page before choosing a plan.

If a source file exceeds the Free upload limit or you need one of the listed Pro export or editing features, compare the current plan terms before uploading. Storefront availability and in-app purchase details may differ by device, region, and date.
Cross Clip is not Twitch’s built-in mobile clip editor
Cross Clip’s app is a separate editing workflow that accepts supported clip links and phone uploads. Twitch’s own mobile clip workflow has different capabilities: Twitch Help says, “You can trim and title clips during creation on mobile. Portrait clip editing is not yet available on mobile.” For portrait layout editing in Twitch’s native workflow, Twitch directs users to its Creator Dashboard. Twitch announced portrait clip versions and layout adjustment on August 28, 2024, but its current help page’s mobile limitation is the relevant guide to native mobile editing.

Common snags and practical checks
- A source link will not import: confirm it is a Twitch, YouTube, or Kick clip URL supported by Cross Clip, or upload the source video from your phone instead.
- The clip looks poorly framed: revisit the layout and content-box positions before compiling; important gameplay or faces can fall outside a vertical crop if left near the edge.
- The resolution or frame rate you want is unavailable: check the selected plan and the compile options actually shown in the app. The listed Pro 1080p/60fps feature does not establish that every combination is available on Free or Pro.
- You cannot find the finished file: use the app’s view, download, and share options after compilation, and check the save or share destination offered by your device. File-location behavior can depend on the app and phone.
- You plan to repost a stream clip: make sure you have the rights and permissions needed for the video and audio, and follow the destination platform’s rules. Editing a clip does not grant permission to reuse copyrighted material.
