How to Set Up OBS for a Hindi Internet Radio Livestream on YouTube

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To livestream a Hindi internet radio program on YouTube with OBS Studio, confirm that your channel can go live, create a stream in YouTube Studio, add its private stream key to OBS, route the program audio to the correct OBS input, and test the stream before broadcasting. Hindi does not require special OBS or YouTube encoder settings; the critical details are a clean audio signal, a stable upload connection, and the rights to stream your music.

1. Confirm YouTube live access and create your stream

YouTube’s current live-access guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube also states a minimum age of 16 for live streaming. Check access before showtime at YouTube’s live-streaming access guidance.

  1. Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
  2. Create or schedule a stream using the encoder option. Set its title, description, visibility, and other details as appropriate for your program.
  3. In the stream settings, copy the stream key. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the key using the connection method available in your OBS version.

A stream key is a credential that lets an encoder send video to your YouTube stream. Keep it private: do not put it in a screenshot, broadcast overlay, public post, or recording. YouTube explains stream keys and related options in its stream settings guidance.

2. Build a clear, simple radio scene

In OBS, create a scene for the broadcast and add an image source for your station logo, program artwork, or a simple title card. Add a text source for details listeners need, such as the show name or current segment, if you can keep it accurate. For a radio-first program, a static, legible visual is often easier to maintain than unnecessary motion.

OBS layers sources in the scene: sources higher in the list appear above those below them. Use the OBS quick start guide for the scene and source basics, and its Studio overview for how scenes and sources work together.

3. Route the radio program audio into OBS

Audio routing is the most important part of an audio-first stream. Identify the actual signal path that carries your program, select it in OBS, and watch the Audio Mixer meters while sound is playing.

If the program plays on the same computer

In OBS, open Settings → Audio and select the desktop or application audio path appropriate to your operating system and OBS version. OBS may capture desktop audio and a microphone by default, but its quick start guidance recommends choosing devices manually if the meters do not move or the wrong device is being captured.

If the program comes from an external mixer or interface

Connect the mixer or audio interface, then select that device as the relevant audio input in Settings → Audio or add it as an audio input capture source in your scene. The exact controls depend on your operating system, OBS version, and hardware; there is no single routing method that applies to every setup.

Add a presenter microphone only if you need one

A microphone is optional for a music-only program. If a host will make announcements, introduce songs, or conduct interviews, add the microphone or interface carrying the host’s voice as a separate input. Check its meter independently and make sure the voice is audible alongside the program audio.

Prevent duplicate audio and unwanted sounds

  • If OBS captures the same program through both an application input and desktop audio, mute one route. Capturing the same signal twice can create an echo or other unwanted sound.
  • Disable unused desktop or microphone devices so system notifications, room noise, or a monitoring return do not reach the stream.
  • Listen with headphones while testing. If possible, use a private or unlisted rehearsal to check what YouTube actually receives.

4. Choose YouTube encoder settings, then test them

Use these YouTube recommendations as a starting point, not as a guarantee that your computer or connection can sustain the stream. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance lists RTMP and RTMPS protocols, H.264, H.265, and AV1 video codecs, and AAC or MP3 audio. Use RTMPS if it is available in your setup.

Setting YouTube recommendation or example How to apply it
Rate control CBR Choose constant bitrate in OBS’s output settings.
Keyframe interval 2 seconds recommended; no more than 4 seconds Set the keyframe interval in OBS’s encoder settings.
Stereo audio 128 kbps; 44.1 kHz sample rate Set the audio bitrate and sample rate in OBS. YouTube lists AAC or MP3 as supported audio choices in its guidance.
H.264 video at 720p, 30 fps 3 Mbps recommended A lower-resolution option when it better suits your upload capacity or visual needs.
H.264 video at 1080p, 30 fps 5 Mbps recommended A higher-resolution option if your upload connection can sustain it reliably.

The video bitrate is separate from the audio bitrate. YouTube recommends testing your upload speed and choosing a quality that your internet connection can reliably support. A static station image may have little visual complexity, but that does not change YouTube’s published bitrate recommendations. Select a supported resolution and bitrate your connection can sustain, and allow headroom for normal network variation. The OBS settings labels can vary with OBS version and encoder choice; YouTube’s recommendations are platform guidance, not a promise of performance on a particular computer.

5. Rehearse the complete program before going live

OBS recommends testing before your first livestream, and YouTube advises using audio and movement similar to what you plan to broadcast. Make a short local recording or private rehearsal using the same audio sources, transitions, and visual elements intended for the live show.

6. Clear music rights before broadcasting

Being allowed to play a track on an internet radio service does not, by itself, establish permission to use it in a YouTube livestream. YouTube’s livestream terms say that the streamer represents having the necessary rights for the live content worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public-performance licenses), and other royalty participants.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may produce a warning and placeholder image; if the content remains, YouTube says the stream may be interrupted or terminated. Even a licensed streamer may need the relevant rights owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist to avoid interruption. Confirm that your permissions cover the music and recordings, the composition, the territories, live use, and any archive or replay. If you cannot verify those rights, do not broadcast the material. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Do not treat YouTube Creator Music as a general source of tracks for a radio livestream: its usage guidance says Creator Music tracks are for long-form videos, not live streams or Shorts.

7. Troubleshoot common OBS radio-stream problems

What you notice Likely cause What to check
YouTube receives silence OBS is listening to the wrong device, or the selected input is not carrying the program. Play the program and check each Audio Mixer meter. Re-select the actual desktop, application, mixer, or interface source in OBS.
The program sounds doubled or echoes The same audio is captured through two routes, or a monitoring return is being sent back into OBS. Mute one duplicate capture path and check your monitoring configuration.
Notifications or room sound go live An unused desktop or microphone source is still enabled. Disable the unused source and rehearse again with the program running.
Audio clips, distorts, or is hard to hear The input level or mix is unsuitable. Adjust the source or mixer level, then record and listen back. Check music and microphone separately.
The stream drops or YouTube reports poor health The upload connection may not reliably sustain the chosen settings. Run a speed test, reduce the selected video bitrate or resolution if needed, and repeat a representative test. Check YouTube’s health messages.
YouTube interrupts the stream after a copyright warning Third-party content was detected; a license may be missing, incomplete, or not allowlisted for Content ID. Review the rights for the material and contact the rights holder about any required channel allowlisting. Do not restart with the same material until the rights issue is resolved.
OBS cannot connect to the scheduled stream The stream key may be incorrect or the channel may not have live access enabled. Check the key in YouTube Studio and OBS, keep it private, and confirm the channel’s eligibility and live access.

Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it plays the uploaded video rather than broadcasting from a live microphone or camera. StreamNeo sends to YouTube only.
