IBM Video Streaming can loop prerecorded videos in a scheduled Live Playlist on an IBM Video Streaming channel. That does not establish that IBM can send the playlist directly to YouTube. YouTube’s documented setup uses an encoder connected with a YouTube stream URL and stream key; the IBM documentation reviewed does not confirm the Live Playlist as a YouTube output.
What IBM’s loop feature does
IBM’s Live Playlist presents prerecorded videos as a simulated-live program on IBM Video Streaming. When loop broadcast is enabled, the playlist restarts its videos and continues doing so until the configured loop stop time. Viewers can experience the program as live, while chat and Q&A can remain live.
The loop setting applies to the IBM-hosted Live Playlist. It is not, by itself, a setting that sends the playlist to YouTube.

Requirements before scheduling an IBM Live Playlist
- Complete a first live broadcast: IBM’s current best-practices guidance says the channel must first complete a true live broadcast from an encoder or streaming app for more than two minutes before its first Live Playlist.
- Check every video’s duration: Each video in a Live Playlist must be longer than two minutes.
- Choose a loop stop time: The playlist repeats until that configured time; it does not loop indefinitely without a stop time.
- Schedule the playlist: Create and schedule a manual Live Playlist, enable looping, and set its stop time in IBM Video Streaming.
Follow IBM’s current account interface and guidance when setting up the playlist, since the cited documentation does not specify a universal menu path that applies to every account.
If the destination has to be YouTube
YouTube documents a separate encoder workflow: create a live stream in YouTube, then connect an encoder using YouTube’s stream URL and stream key. That describes how YouTube receives a live feed; it does not confirm that an IBM Live Playlist can serve as that encoder output.

- Prepare the YouTube channel: YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days.
- Create the stream in YouTube: In YouTube Studio, set up a live stream and obtain its stream URL and stream key using YouTube’s encoder instructions.
- Connect a compatible encoder: Enter the YouTube URL and key in an encoder that can provide the video feed. The documentation cited here does not name an encoder or establish compatibility between IBM’s playlist feature and YouTube.
- Start and monitor the broadcast: Confirm the encoder is sending to YouTube and that the live event is receiving the feed before relying on it as a scheduled program.
If direct IBM-to-YouTube delivery is essential, ask IBM whether your account, plan, or an available integration supports it. The official pages cited here do not confirm that route, but they also do not establish that every possible relay or workaround is impossible.
IBM’s guidance about embedding a playlist player on an external website is a different feature; embedding an IBM player does not mean the stream is being sent into YouTube. See IBM’s website embedding instructions.

Protect rights in prerecorded video and audio
Before streaming a prerecorded program, confirm that you have the rights needed to use all of its video and audio in a livestream, including music. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions require the provider to have the necessary rights. A video being prerecorded or available elsewhere does not, by itself, establish permission to stream it.

Troubleshooting the setup
- IBM will not start the first playlist: Check that the channel has completed a true encoder- or app-based live broadcast lasting more than two minutes.
- A video is rejected or does not fit the playlist: Verify that each video is longer than two minutes.
- The IBM playlist stops repeating: Check whether it has reached the configured loop stop time.
- YouTube does not receive the program: Verify the YouTube stream URL and key in the encoder, confirm the encoder is sending, and check that the YouTube channel is eligible to livestream. Do not assume an IBM playlist embed is an encoder feed.
- A stream is interrupted or content is challenged: Check connection and encoder status, and confirm rights for all video and audio, including music.
