You can’t use Vimeo’s 24/7 Extended streaming mode to simulcast to YouTube: Vimeo explicitly says Extended streams cannot be sent to other destinations. You can use Vimeo for a finite scheduled YouTube event, or set up a continuous YouTube feed separately. For the latter, StreamNeo is the cloud alternative to try first: it loops uploaded videos on YouTube, up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and its first day is free.
Can Vimeo schedule a continuous YouTube broadcast?
Not as a single Vimeo workflow. Vimeo Extended streaming is a continuous, encoder-fed mode for an Enterprise account with the Extended streaming add-on. It stays active while an encoder supplies a signal and must be ended manually. However, Vimeo states that simulcasting to other destinations is not available for Extended streams, so you cannot use that mode to send the same 24/7 broadcast to YouTube. Vimeo’s Extended streaming FAQ describes both the continuous mode and its destination restriction.
Choose the workflow according to what you mean by “continuous”:
- One uninterrupted Vimeo stream: Use Extended streaming with an encoder, understanding that it is not a YouTube simulcast and is not recorded or archived.
- A finite scheduled Vimeo event shown on YouTube: Use Vimeo’s YouTube integration or a custom RTMP destination. A scheduled YouTube RTMP event may still require an operator to click Go live in YouTube Live Control Room.
- A YouTube channel playing uploaded videos around the clock: Use a YouTube-focused continuous-stream service such as StreamNeo, rather than Vimeo Extended streaming.
Option 1: Set up Vimeo Extended streaming
This is the Vimeo workflow for a continuous encoder-fed event, not a method for simulcasting to YouTube. Vimeo requires the Enterprise add-on. Extended streams remain active until manually ended and do not support recording or DVR, so plan for those limitations before starting. See Vimeo’s instructions for enabling Extended streaming.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Open the Vimeo event settings and go to Production.
- Turn off Record event and DVR.
- Enable Extended stream.
- Configure an encoder to send its video signal to the event using the event’s encoder details.
- Start the encoder. The Vimeo event remains live while it receives the signal; end the event manually when the broadcast is finished.
Do not look for a YouTube destination toggle in this mode: Vimeo’s documentation says Extended streaming cannot simulcast to YouTube or other destinations. An encoder is needed to supply the continuous signal, but it does not change that platform restriction.
Option 2: Schedule a finite Vimeo event for YouTube
For an event with a start and finish, Vimeo can send the event to YouTube through an integrated account connection or a custom RTMP destination. Vimeo requires an eligible Advanced, Premium, or Enterprise-with-Events plan, and the YouTube account must be verified for live streaming. Follow Vimeo’s YouTube simulcast setup.
Connect YouTube directly
- Create or open the Vimeo live event.
- Open Settings > Destinations.
- Connect the YouTube account and select it as a destination.
- Start the Vimeo event. With the direct integration, Vimeo sends the event to YouTube when the Vimeo event goes live.
Use a custom RTMP destination
- Schedule or open the YouTube event and obtain its RTMP URL and stream key from YouTube’s live setup.
- In Vimeo, open the event’s Settings > Destinations and add a custom RTMP destination.
- Enter the YouTube RTMP URL and stream key, then save the destination.
- Start the encoder feed to Vimeo at the scheduled time.
- If the YouTube event was scheduled in advance, open YouTube Live Control Room and select Go live after the encoder signal arrives, if YouTube has not published it automatically.
The RTMP credentials and event link remain available until going live, but the incoming encoder signal alone may not publish a scheduled YouTube event. Confirm the event is actually live in YouTube Live Control Room.

Destination and capacity limits to check
Vimeo’s current help pages describe up to 10 integrated destinations and up to 20 custom RTMP destinations for simulcasting. These are finite-event simulcast details, not a workaround for Extended streaming’s no-simulcast restriction. If you toggle a destination off during a stream and turn it back on, Vimeo warns that the destination may archive the first event and create a new one, splitting the broadcast. See Vimeo’s simulcasting overview.
Vimeo’s Live Events FAQ currently lists up to two simultaneous streams on Advanced and up to three on Premium and Enterprise, with a 12-hour limit per stream; Enterprise may add streams and Extended streaming. It also lists a 2 TB monthly bandwidth policy and advises contacting support in advance for large events, citing 50,000+ viewers outside the U.S. or 100,000–150,000+ within the U.S. These are current plan and policy statements, not guaranteed capacity. Verify your account’s terms and get Vimeo’s guidance before production. Vimeo’s Live Events FAQ has the current details.
Recurring events are not a 24/7 broadcast
Vimeo recurring events create separate daily, weekly, or monthly occurrences. They do not turn one event into an uninterrupted feed. Vimeo says the duration field is informational rather than an automatic stop control, so the operator must end each broadcast; each occurrence also counts toward concurrent-stream limits. See Vimeo’s recurring-event instructions.

Vimeo also documents an auto-start workflow for scheduled prerecorded events using its web production tool. It requires a scheduled start, uses browser time-zone settings when converting the time for viewers, can fail if concurrent-stream limits are occupied, and does not support external encoders. It is a scheduled finite event, not a continuous YouTube feed. See Vimeo’s prerecorded-event auto-start guide.
Or let it run in the cloud

Common problems and fixes
The YouTube destination is missing in Extended streaming
That is expected: Vimeo Extended streaming does not support simulcasting. Use Vimeo’s finite-event YouTube integration or RTMP workflow if the event can end, or use a YouTube-focused continuous-stream service for an always-on feed.
The Vimeo feed reaches YouTube but the scheduled event is not live
For a scheduled custom RTMP event, check the YouTube Live Control Room and select Go live after the signal arrives. Also confirm the YouTube account is verified for live streaming and that the RTMP URL and stream key were copied correctly.
A recurring event stops or cannot start
Recurring occurrences are separate broadcasts, and the duration field does not automatically end an event. End each occurrence as needed and check Vimeo’s concurrent-stream allowance if an occurrence cannot start.

A destination appears as a second event after being re-enabled
Toggling a simulcast destination off and back on can archive its first event and create a new destination event. Avoid changing destination state midstream unless a split event is acceptable.
Extended streaming will not enable
Check that the account has the Enterprise Extended streaming add-on and that recording and DVR are turned off in the event’s Production settings. Confirm current access with Vimeo if the controls are unavailable.
Which workflow should you choose?
| Goal | Use | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Continuous encoder-fed stream on Vimeo | Vimeo Extended streaming | Enterprise add-on; no YouTube simulcast, recording, or DVR |
| Scheduled finite event on YouTube through Vimeo | Vimeo destination integration or custom RTMP | Eligible Vimeo plan and verified YouTube live account; scheduled RTMP may need a manual Go live action |
| Uninterrupted YouTube playback of uploaded videos | StreamNeo cloud looping | YouTube playback of uploaded content; not a camera-based live production |
