OBS Studio is the best-supported free software option in the sources available for looping a video on YouTube Live in India. Add your video as an OBS Media Source and enable Loop. For a playlist of clips, use OBS’s VLC Video source with VLC installed and turn on Loop Playlist.
The software settings are not India-specific. Your channel must be eligible for live streaming, and your network and computer must sustain the broadcast. For a managed cloud alternative, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video or playlist streaming to YouTube without leaving a computer running.
Which free software should you use?
Choose OBS Studio for a local-file looping setup. The OBS Project describes it as free and open-source software for video capture, compositing, encoding, recording and streaming; it is distributed under GPLv2 or later. The documented media-source workflow is available on Windows, macOS and Linux. OBS Studio project · OBS Media Sources guide
YouTube also supports standalone hardware encoders, but hardware is not required for this OBS workflow. The sources do not establish a better free competitor for this exact task, so this recommendation is about the documented fit—not a claim that OBS is the only encoder that can do it.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Before you start: check YouTube Live access and content rights
- Live eligibility: YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours; that is an approximate wait, not a guaranteed deadline. Check access in YouTube Studio. YouTube: Get started with live streaming · YouTube: Create a live stream with an encoder
- Rights to the material: YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies material, it may replace it with a placeholder and interrupt or terminate the stream if the content remains. A license by itself may not prevent interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Stream only content you are entitled to broadcast; where applicable, ask the rights holder to allowlist the channel. YouTube: Copyright issues with live streams
- India-specific access: The documented loop settings and encoder process are general, not India-only. The available sources do not establish an India-specific connection-speed requirement or performance benchmark for this workflow. Verify access on your own channel and test your local computer and connection.
How to loop one video with OBS
- Install OBS Studio from the official OBS Project website. Use an up-to-date version compatible with your operating system.
- Create a scene: In OBS, add a scene if you do not already have one. In the Sources box, select + > Media Source.
- Select the file: Give the source a name, select the local video file, and enable Loop in the Media Source properties. OBS will restart the file when playback ends. Confirm the video fits the canvas and that its audio is audible in the mixer.
- Connect OBS to YouTube: In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or manage a stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. YouTube describes the key and address as the credentials that allow it to accept the encoder feed; treat the key like a password and do not share or publish it. YouTube: Create a live stream with an encoder
- Set the encoder output: YouTube recommends RTMPS. Its encoder guidance includes H.264 among supported RTMP/RTMPS video codecs, constant bitrate (CBR), and a keyframe interval of two seconds (recommended) and no more than four seconds. These are YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular computer or Indian ISP will sustain the stream. YouTube: Encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions
- Preview before going public: Start the OBS feed and check the Live Control Room preview, audio, motion and stream health before making the stream public. YouTube advises checking that viewers can reach the event from channel and watch pages and mobile devices, and monitoring audio and video throughout. How to stream a playlist on repeat
For several clips, OBS’s VLC Video source provides playlist playback. VLC must be installed for the source to appear in OBS. If you use 64-bit OBS, the OBS documentation says you need 64-bit VLC.
- Install VLC for your system, matching OBS’s architecture.
- In OBS, add a source with + > VLC Video.
- Add the files to the source’s playlist and enable Loop Playlist. OBS documentation shows this option on by default, but check it rather than assuming it is enabled.
- Preview the playlist in OBS, including the transition from the final clip back to the first, and confirm that audio levels are consistent enough for your broadcast.
Use a single Media Source when one file is all you need; use VLC Video when you need multiple files in a repeating playlist. Both are local playback, so OBS must remain running on a powered computer with a working internet connection.

Keep the stream within YouTube’s practical limits
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its DVR guidance warns that rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. That distinction matters for long-running broadcasts: do not assume that a continuous 24/7 stream will produce a complete archive or offer uninterrupted rewind. YouTube: DVR on live streams
Check the preview and stream health after launch, and continue monitoring audio and video. No minimum connection speed for this exact workflow in India is established by the cited YouTube guidance, so validate performance with your own setup rather than relying on an assumed speed.

Common problems and fixes
- The video stops at the end: Open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. For a playlist, check Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source instead.
- VLC Video is missing from the source list: Install VLC. If OBS is 64-bit, install 64-bit VLC as specified in the OBS guide.
- YouTube does not receive the OBS feed: Check that live streaming is enabled for the channel, then verify the stream URL and key in OBS. If you just enabled live streaming for the first time, activation may take up to 24 hours.
- The stream is interrupted or replaced with a placeholder: YouTube may be detecting third-party material. Confirm you have broadcast rights; if you are licensed to use the content, check whether the rights holder needs to allowlist your channel through Content ID.
- The picture or sound is unstable: Check OBS’s preview and YouTube’s stream health, confirm the recommended encoder settings, and test the same video and audio under representative conditions. The cited guidance does not promise performance on a particular computer or connection.
