If OBS appears in your YouTube Live loop, first check whether the scene uses Display Capture and OBS is open on that same display. The quickest fix is to minimize OBS. On Windows, you can also enable Hide OBS windows from screen capture in OBS Studio → Settings → General. On macOS 13 or later, use a macOS Screen Capture source in Display Capture mode and enable Hide OBS from capture. Which option is available depends on your operating system and capture source.
Choose the fix that fits your capture setup

Hide OBS from the live capture
- Identify the source in your scene. In OBS, check whether the loop scene uses Display Capture, which captures the selected display, or a narrower source. If viewers need only one app or window, use Window Capture or an application capture option where supported. OBS lists Window Capture for Windows, Linux, and macOS 12.6 and earlier; macOS Screen Capture supports display, window, or application capture on macOS 13 and later. OBS’s Sources Guide describes the available source types.
- Try minimizing OBS first. Minimize the window to the taskbar or tray on Windows, or to the Dock or menu bar on macOS. OBS says a minimized window is not visible to capture; if you bring it back onto the captured display, it may appear again.
- On Windows, enable capture exclusion if you need OBS open. In OBS Studio, go to Settings → General and check Hide OBS windows from screen capture. Remember that screenshots of OBS will not work while this option is active, according to OBS.
- On macOS 13 or later, use the macOS Screen Capture source option. Select or add a macOS Screen Capture source, choose Display Capture, and check Hide OBS from capture. This is not a general toggle for every macOS capture source.
- Keep OBS on another display if that suits your workflow. A secondary monitor or television lets you operate OBS while the captured display stays free of its window. You do not need another display if minimizing or a supported capture-exclusion option does the job.
- Verify the output before leaving the loop unattended. Confirm the correct scene and what the capture shows in OBS, then check the live output. Capture behavior can vary with source configuration, operating-system permissions, and third-party loop setup.
Use the right OBS control for the problem
Display Capture versus Window Capture
Display Capture is broader: it can include anything visible on the selected display, including OBS itself. If the loop is a specific app or window, a supported Window Capture or application source can avoid capturing the whole desktop. Choose the narrowest source that shows exactly what viewers should see, and confirm it behaves as expected on your system.
Source visibility is not window exclusion
The eye control in OBS hides or shows an individual source within a scene. It does not hide the OBS application window from a Display Capture source. Use a capture-exclusion setting, minimize OBS, or capture a narrower target to keep the interface out of the image.
Studio Mode is not capture exclusion
Studio Mode lets you edit or prepare a scene separately from the live scene; viewers continue to see the program scene until you make a transition. It can help prevent accidental scene changes, but it does not stop a visible OBS window from being captured by Display Capture. OBS explains Studio Mode and transitions.

Check the result before leaving a loop running
- Confirm that the scene uses the intended display, window, or application source.
- Make sure OBS is minimized or excluded from capture if it is open on the captured display.
- Inspect the actual output after changing sources or capture settings; do not assume a setting behaves identically across systems.
- If you need OBS controls visible while keeping the main display clean, consider using a secondary display.
