“Integrate Discord with Streamlabs” can mean three different things: posting a live announcement to a Discord server, showing your Streamlabs scene in a Discord call, or keeping Discord voice chat out of—or putting it into—your Streamlabs broadcast. These are separate setups. The steps below are for Streamlabs Desktop unless noted; confirm the Discord integration is still available in your account before following the older announcement guide.
Choose the integration you need

These workflows are not interchangeable: the announcement integration does not send your scene or Discord audio, and the Virtual Camera does not by itself route desktop audio.
Post a live announcement to Discord
Streamlabs’ Discord Integration guide was published in 2018 and last updated December 17, 2021. Its documented steps may not match every current account or dashboard, so first check whether Discord appears in your Streamlabs integrations page.
- Open the Streamlabs dashboard and go to the integrations page.
- Find Discord and select Link.
- In the authorization window, choose the Discord server to connect. Complete any verification step if prompted.
- Configure the announcement message and destination channel in the Streamlabs dashboard or in the Streamlabels application’s Live Actions tab.
- When you are live, use the Announce button to post. The guide describes a manual action, not an automatic announcement trigger; it says a post can take up to five minutes to appear.
The guide says the bot may appear offline except when it needs to post. Do not treat that status alone as proof that the integration is broken.

Show Streamlabs video in a Discord call
For Streamlabs scenes, overlays, webcam, and alerts in a call, Streamlabs documents using its Virtual Camera in Streamlabs Desktop. This sends video to Discord; the camera path does not deliver desktop audio to call participants.
- Open Streamlabs Desktop and open its settings.
- Install and start Virtual Camera using the controls provided in the settings.
- Join or start a Discord call, open the call’s camera selection, and choose Streamlabs Desktop Virtual Camera.
- Check the preview in Discord and confirm the intended Streamlabs scene is active.
If call participants also need to hear desktop audio, configure audio separately. Streamlabs’ 2025-updated guide names a routing program such as VoiceMeeter Banana as one approach. That is an example, not a universal requirement for every audio setup.

When Discord’s own screen share is enough
If you only need to show an application and do not need Streamlabs scenes, webcam, overlays, or alerts, Discord’s native screen share is the simpler route described by Streamlabs. Share a specific application rather than the entire screen when you want to reduce the chance of exposing unrelated windows or notifications.
Control whether Discord voices reach your Streamlabs Desktop broadcast
To “hear your friends or mods in Discord without your stream hearing them,” route Discord to a device that your broadcast is not capturing, or selectively capture only the applications you want viewers to hear. Streamlabs’ audio-control guide applies to Streamlabs Desktop.

- In Streamlabs Desktop, add an Application Audio Capture source and select the application whose sound you want to capture.
- Open Settings > Audio. Disable Desktop Audio if you do not want all computer output—including Discord—to be captured as well as the selected application.
- In Discord, open User Settings > Voice & Video and set the output device to your headset or speakers that are not being captured by Streamlabs.
- Test with a short recording or a private stream check: listen locally, then verify what the broadcast mix actually contains.
If viewers should hear Streamlabs alerts while using selected application audio, set the alert sources to Monitor and Output. If application capture creates an echo, disable Desktop Audio and check that the same sound is not also entering through another captured source.
Include Discord voices in the broadcast instead
If the audience should hear your Discord call, make Discord’s output available to a source that Streamlabs captures. You can select Discord itself with Application Audio Capture where available, or use a captured output device. Avoid capturing both the Discord application and the same system output unless you intend to mix both; otherwise voices can be duplicated or echo.

Keep Discord out of a recording but in the live stream
For separate stream and recording mixes, Streamlabs Desktop’s Selective Recording lets you choose per source whether it is included in the stream, the recording, or both. Review the inclusion choice for Discord and other audio sources before recording; muting a source globally may affect both outputs.

The Virtual Camera and Application Audio Capture steps above are documented for Streamlabs Desktop. Streamlabs also has a separate Plugin for OBS Studio. Its guide, last updated September 28, 2026, requires OBS Studio 28.0.0 or later and documents Streamlabs overlays, alerts, widgets, tipping, Stream Labels, and Cloudbot within OBS. That guide does not establish that Discord controls in the plugin are identical to Streamlabs Desktop, so do not assume the same menu paths or capabilities.

Troubleshooting
- Discord is missing from integrations: Check the integrations page for the account you are using. The linking instructions date from 2021, and current availability is not established for every account.
- The announcement has not appeared: Check that the account is live, the intended channel and message are configured, and you clicked Announce. Allow up to five minutes according to the integration guide.
- Discord call shows no Streamlabs picture: Confirm Virtual Camera is installed and started, then select Streamlabs Desktop Virtual Camera in Discord’s camera menu.
- Call participants cannot hear desktop audio: The Virtual Camera carries video, not desktop audio. Set up a separate audio route if sound is needed in the call.
- The stream hears Discord even though you selected another app: Disable Desktop Audio under Settings > Audio, and make sure Discord is routed to an output device that is not captured.
- Discord voices are missing from the stream: Check that the selected capture source includes Discord or its output device, and verify the Discord output device in User Settings > Voice & Video.
- Viewers hear echoes or duplicate sound: Check for overlapping capture of Application Audio Capture and Desktop Audio, and disable Desktop Audio if it is duplicating the selected application.
- Alerts are not audible to viewers: When using selected application audio, set the relevant alert source to Monitor and Output.
