To stream Marathi songs continuously to YouTube with FFmpeg, you need three things: a playlist of compatible media files, a reliable encoder-to-YouTube connection, and permission to broadcast the recordings and compositions. FFmpeg can play a prepared list of files in sequence, but it does not itself guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast, clear music rights, or a complete YouTube replay.
Before you start: confirm the music rights
Do not assume a song is safe to broadcast because it is available online, you bought a copy, or you credit the artist. YouTube Help says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can replace the stream picture with a placeholder, trigger a warning, interrupt the stream, or terminate it.
Confirm that you have permission for both the sound recordings and the underlying compositions, including the territories where viewers may watch. If you have a licence for third-party material, YouTube says the rights owner may also need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a licence alone may not prevent an interruption. Check the terms with the relevant rights holders before scheduling a long broadcast.
What you need for an FFmpeg playlist stream
- A host that can stay online, with an upload connection capable of sustaining your chosen stream settings.
- An FFmpeg build and media files that work with the playlist format you plan to use.
- A video track. If your Marathi music files contain audio only, you must provide a visual track separately; a concat list does not create video from audio.
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled, plus the server URL and stream key shown in YouTube Studio.
- Broadcast rights for every recording and composition in the playlist.
Prepare a compatible playlist
Make the concat list
Create a plain-text file, for example playlist.ffconcat, beginning with the exact signature below. Add one file directive for each media file, in playback order:

Use paths that resolve from the location where FFmpeg will run. The concat demuxer’s safe-path setting defaults to 1 and rejects unsafe paths. Do not relax it unless you understand and trust both the list and every referenced file.
Check that the files can be concatenated
The FFmpeg Project’s concat demuxer documentation states: “All files must have the same streams (same codecs, same time base, etc.).” In practice, check the files’ stream layout, codecs, and time bases before relying on the list. A playlist that mixes files with incompatible properties may fail or behave incorrectly at transitions.

Check actual file durations and listen to transitions. Incorrect or estimated durations can cause artifacts at boundaries. Test the exact playlist you intend to broadcast; a list that works with one set of files is not proof that a differently encoded set will work.
Decide how viewers will see the music
If each file already has video, the concat input can supply the picture. If the files are audio-only, create or provide a visual track using a method appropriate to your setup, then test that the resulting video and audio streams are compatible with your output settings. The playlist syntax alone does not add album art, a still image, lyrics, or visualizers.

Get the YouTube ingest details
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or select the live stream you intend to use.
- Copy the server URL and stream key YouTube displays for the stream.
- Use the RTMPS server URL where available; YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion.
- Keep the stream key private. Anyone with access to it may be able to send video to your stream. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting.
Set FFmpeg’s output and start the stream
Use the following as a command-line template, not a universal drop-in command. Replace each placeholder with values appropriate to your files, FFmpeg build, and YouTube ingest details. The input must provide video as well as audio; audio-only files need a separate visual-track setup. Confirm that your chosen encoders and settings are supported by your build.
ffmpeg -f concat -safe 1 -i playlist.ffconcat
-c:v libx264 -b:v VIDEO_BITRATE -maxrate VIDEO_BITRATE -bufsize VIDEO_BUFFER_SIZE
-force_key_frames "expr:gte(t,n_forced*2)"
-c:a aac -b:a AUDIO_BITRATE
-f flv "RTMPS_SERVER_URL/STREAM_KEY"
The template encodes video as H.264 and audio as AAC, both formats included in YouTube’s encoder guidance. It uses a forced keyframe interval of two seconds; YouTube recommends two seconds and says the interval should not exceed four seconds. The bitrate and buffer placeholders are intentionally not fixed: choose settings your upload connection can sustain and validate them in a test stream. Configure constant bitrate (CBR), as YouTube recommends. If you change resolution or frame rate, check the resulting stream settings and health rather than assuming one bitrate fits every source.

- Run the command on the host that will keep the encoder online.
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, wait for the incoming preview and check the stream health/status.
- Watch and listen to a representative section, including transitions between files. Check for missing picture, silence, clipping, or a stalled upload.
- Monitor the connection and stream health during a longer test before relying on the setup for a continuous broadcast.
Plan for continuity, recovery, and archiving
“24/7” is an operating goal, not a guarantee supplied by FFmpeg or YouTube’s encoder documentation. The host, network, playlist, encoder process, and YouTube ingest can each fail. FFmpeg’s concat and encoder guidance does not establish a universal restart command or a setup that guarantees uninterrupted runtime on every host. If your process must recover after a host or encoder failure, choose and test a supervisor or restart arrangement suited to that host, and monitor the stream rather than assuming the process will recover by itself.
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not promise that a single stream running longer than 12 hours will be retained as one complete replay. If you need a full archive, plan a separate recording or segmentation strategy and verify YouTube’s current behavior for your channel and workflow.

Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely area to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| FFmpeg rejects the playlist or fails when a new file begins | List syntax, file paths, or incompatible streams/codecs/time bases | Check the signature and each file entry; confirm paths resolve from the FFmpeg working directory and compare the files’ stream properties. |
| Playback has a glitch at a track boundary | Incompatible media properties or inaccurate duration information | Inspect the affected files and their actual durations, then test the transition in the complete playlist. |
| YouTube receives no picture or audio | Missing video track, incorrect output settings, or ingest details | Verify the input actually supplies video and audio, recheck the server URL and stream key, and inspect the Live Control Room preview. |
| Stream health is poor or the stream disconnects | Upload capacity, host/network stability, or output settings | Test at a bitrate your connection can sustain, review YouTube’s stream health, and check the host and network during a representative run. |
| YouTube warns, replaces the picture, interrupts, or ends the stream | Third-party content match or rights/allowlist status | Review the notice, confirm the relevant rights, and ask the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting for licensed material. |
| The full 24-hour broadcast is not available as one replay | Archive expectations for a stream longer than YouTube’s stated under-12-hour automatic archive threshold | Use a separate recording or segmentation plan if a complete archive matters, and verify current YouTube behavior. |
