“Turn off Live Redirect” can mean two different things: cancelling a destination you set for your own stream or Premiere, or stopping other channels from redirecting viewers to your channel. YouTube manages those controls separately. For your own stream, open its redirect settings and look for a remove or clear option; for incoming redirects, change the channel permissions in YouTube Studio’s Community settings.
Turn off a redirect from your own stream or Premiere
An outgoing Live Redirect hands viewers to a Premiere or another channel’s live stream after your stream or Premiere ends. YouTube describes how to add a destination, but its Help instructions do not specify the exact action for removing one. The control may vary with the current interface, so confirm the available options in Studio rather than relying on a particular removal button.
- Sign in to YouTube Studio.
- Select Content, then open the Live tab.
- Find the relevant stream or Premiere and select Edit.
- Open Customization and locate Redirect.
- Inspect the selected destination for a remove or clear option. If one is available, use it and save your changes.
YouTube’s Help page explains the handoff this way: “Once your live stream ends, autoplay will move your viewers to the Premiere or live stream of your choice.” See YouTube’s Live Redirect instructions.
Stop other channels from redirecting viewers to your channel
Incoming redirect permissions are channel-wide settings, separate from the destination selected for one of your own streams. YouTube documents three permission approaches: allow channels you subscribe to, allow all channels, or maintain a list of specific channels you approve. The manually maintained list supports up to 100 channels. The all-channels option cannot be combined with the subscription-based option or the manual list.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Open YouTube Studio and select Settings > Community.
- Review the channel redirect permissions.
- Choose the more restrictive option that suits you. If you use a manually approved-channel list, remove entries you no longer want to allow.
- Save your changes.
Channels you subscribe to may be allowed by default, subject to your subscription privacy settings. For the documented options and qualifications, see YouTube Help: How to use YouTube Live Redirect.
What to check before changing redirect settings
- Sending a redirect: YouTube says the creator needs more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes.
- Redirecting to another channel’s live stream: The destination channel must permit redirects.
- Audience handoff: YouTube recommends telling viewers to wait a few seconds after the stream ends for their screens to reload to the Premiere.
These conditions concern sending redirects; they do not change the distinction between an outgoing destination and incoming channel permissions. YouTube’s guidance is in its Live Redirect Help page.

Do not confuse Live Redirect with Dual stream
Dual stream is a different feature: it creates a vertical stream from a horizontal live stream. Turning Dual stream off does not cancel a Live Redirect. Follow YouTube’s separate instructions for getting started with live streaming if Dual stream is what you meant.
