To schedule a YouTube Premiere, upload your video in YouTube Studio, choose Schedule under Visibility, set the date and time, and check Set as Premiere. You can then share the public watch page so viewers can set reminders and join the countdown and chat when the video begins.
Schedule a Premiere while uploading
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Create → Upload videos.
- Select the video file, then enter its title, description, thumbnail, and other video details.
- At the Visibility step, select Schedule and enter the date, time, and time zone you want.
- Check Set as Premiere. If you want to customize the event, select Set up Premiere and choose a countdown theme and length.
- Select Done or Schedule to finish. The video’s public watch page is available before the event, so you can share its URL.
You can also create a Premiere during upload in the YouTube app: on the Set visibility page, choose Set as Premiere. Labels and screens may change; YouTube’s current Premiere instructions describe the supported workflow.
Scheduled Premiere, instant Premiere, or scheduled video?

What happens on the Premiere watch page
Before the start, viewers can visit the public watch page, share its URL, set a reminder, comment, and use chat. YouTube says reminder notifications arrive about 30 minutes before the Premiere and again when it starts. At the scheduled time, the configured countdown plays, followed by the video for everyone together in real time. Viewers can rewind to content that has already played, but cannot jump ahead of the live point.

After the event, the video remains on your channel as a regular upload. YouTube says chat replay is available and the Premiere’s view count transfers to the video. These details are described in YouTube’s Premiere help page.
Countdowns, trailers, and interaction options
Countdown
You can choose a countdown theme and length during Premiere setup. YouTube’s Premiere customization guidance describes the countdown as appearing two minutes before the Premiere, with the selected length controlling the countdown.

Trailer
A trailer can play on the watch page before the event, but this feature is limited to channels with more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. The trailer must run 15 seconds to 3 minutes, meet YouTube’s rights and Community Guidelines requirements, and cannot be a video that has already premiered. Check YouTube’s eligibility and trailer rules before planning around this option.
Ads and fan features
Eligible channels can run pre-roll ads during a Premiere; mid-roll and post-roll ads are unavailable during it. Super Chat and Super Stickers may be available to eligible creators, as may membership perks such as members-only chat. Availability depends on channel eligibility and YouTube’s current settings; see the customization page.

Prepare and promote the event
- Schedule at least 24 hours in advance if you want viewers around the world to have an opportunity to see the thumbnail in their subscriptions feed. This is YouTube’s recommendation, not a requirement.
- Share the public watch-page URL, use a clear thumbnail, and invite viewers to set reminders.
- Plan to be present if you want to comment, answer questions, or moderate chat in real time.

Change the scheduled time or understand a date difference
In YouTube Studio, open Content, select the video, choose Edit → Visibility, and change the time under Schedule. YouTube documents this in its video scheduling instructions.

The date shown on the public watch page uses Pacific Standard Time (PST). If you scheduled from a time zone ahead of PST, the watch-page date may differ from the date shown in Studio. Check both the time and time zone before concluding that the Premiere was scheduled incorrectly.

- The video will not publish as a Premiere: Shorts are not supported. YouTube also lists 360/VR180 video and output greater than 1080p as unsupported for Premieres. Use a supported video instead, or publish it without a Premiere.
- A Premiere is set to private during a strike penalty: YouTube says a channel with a Community Guidelines strike cannot publish a Premiere during the penalty period. The Premiere is set to private; reschedule it after the freeze period.
- The watch-page date looks one day off: Compare the Studio time with the public page’s PST date, especially when scheduling from a time zone ahead of PST.
- You cannot find a way to turn an uploaded video into a Premiere: The verified canonical workflow is to select Set as Premiere during upload. Editing already-uploaded content and the availability of conversion controls can depend on the current Studio interface; check the video’s Visibility settings and YouTube’s latest help rather than assuming conversion is available.
