While the video is playing, open More, tap or click Save, and choose the playlist. On iPhone and iPad, tap Change if YouTube saves it to the wrong destination or you want to pick a different one.
Save the video you’re watching to a playlist
On a computer
- Open the video’s watch page and select More in the player’s available controls.
- Select Save.
- Choose the playlist where you want to add the video. To save it to Watch later, choose Watch later.
YouTube documents the computer Watch later sequence as More → Save → Watch later. If the video is already playing from a playlist and you want to save the entire playlist to your library instead, open its playlist panel and select Save playlist. In the YouTube app on Android
- On the video’s watch page, tap More, then Save.
- If YouTube saves it to the last playlist you used or to Watch later, tap Change in the confirmation message.
- Select the playlist you want.

- On the video’s watch page, tap More, then Save.
- Tap Change to open the destination choices.
- Select the playlist you want, including Watch later if that is where you want to keep the video.

Create a playlist if you don’t have the right one
- Open the video’s More → Save menu.
- Choose New playlist or Create new playlist. The wording and controls can vary by platform.
- Enter a name, choose the playlist’s visibility, and create it.
A private playlist is visible only to its owner, according to YouTube Help. On Android, YouTube documents creating a playlist from a video through More → Save → Create new playlist. The mobile site may show different controls from the native app. YouTube Help: Create & manage playlists — Android
If Save or a playlist choice is missing
- The video is marked Made for Kids: YouTube says Made for Kids videos cannot be added to a playlist or saved to Watch later. Its Android help describes a more specific homepage case: adding a Made for Kids video or channel from the homepage is unavailable, while saving content from search results remains possible. These are distinct contexts, so a missing homepage option does not establish that the same restriction applies to every viewing location. - You can’t find the playlist picker on iPhone or iPad: Tap Change in the save confirmation to choose another destination. YouTube Help: Add and remove videos from Watch Later — iPhone and iPad
- The buttons look different: YouTube’s labels and controls may vary a little by platform. Start from the video’s watch page and look for More and Save; on Android, the destination can initially be the last playlist used or Watch later.
Save to a playlist or add to the queue?
Use Save when you want the video kept in a playlist for later. A queue sets videos to play next in the current session; it is not the same as saving to a playlist. YouTube says a computer queue does not persist after you close the browser and recommends Watch later for videos you want to continue watching later. Mobile queueing requires YouTube Premium; that requirement applies to queueing on mobile, not to saving a video to a playlist. YouTube Help: Queue videos on YouTube — Computer
