If OBS keeps replaying one gaming clip instead of advancing, first identify the source type. An OBS Media Source plays a local file, and its Loop setting repeats that same file. For a sequence of local clips, use VLC Video. If OBS is showing YouTube through a Browser Source, playlist advancement and repeat are controlled by the YouTube player—not Media Source’s Loop setting.
First identify what OBS is playing
In the OBS Sources dock, select the item that shows the video and check its source type. Media Source, VLC Video, and Browser Source are different tools with different playback controls. OBS’s documentation describes Media Source and VLC Video on its Media Sources page and Browser Source on its Browser Source page.
- Media Source: one local video or audio file.
- VLC Video: a playlist of local media files.
- Browser Source: a web page, such as a YouTube player or playlist.
Make local gaming clips advance in sequence
Use VLC Video for a local playlist
- Install VLC. OBS requires VLC for the VLC Video source to be available; with 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC.
- In OBS, add a VLC Video source rather than a Media Source.
- Open the source properties and add the local clips to the playlist in the order you want them to play.
- Choose whether Loop Playlist should be enabled. With it on, playback restarts after the final item; with it off, the playlist does not loop back to the beginning.
Check that the intended files are all in the VLC playlist and in the right order. Media Source’s Loop option is not a playlist control.
Use Media Source only when you want one file
Open the Media Source properties and set Loop according to the desired behavior: enable it to replay that file after it ends, or disable it to stop at the end. OBS documents Loop as controlling whether the file plays again after playback completes. It will not advance to another local video.

Fix a YouTube playlist shown in Browser Source
Browser Source loads a specified web page. If that page contains YouTube, the YouTube player—not an OBS Media Source setting—determines which playlist item plays next and whether the playlist repeats. YouTube documents a loop control for videos and playlists in its playlist help.
- Open the Browser Source properties and verify that its URL points to the intended YouTube video or playlist page.
- Check the player itself: confirm the video belongs to the playlist you intend to play, and use YouTube’s playlist controls to request a rerun when appropriate.
- If you are configuring an embedded player with code, distinguish playing through the playlist from looping it. Google’s IFrame Player API says playlist looping is off by default and documents
setLoop(true)to enable it.
OBS’s Browser Source documentation describes loading a web page; it does not guarantee YouTube-specific autoplay or playlist advancement. If the embedded player stops or repeats unexpectedly, changing Media Source’s Loop setting will not fix the web player. A community-maintained OBS resource describes an embedded-player script with options for multiple video IDs, autoplay, and looping, but it is not an official OBS fix or compatibility guarantee. Treat such scripts as optional and verify that they work with your current OBS and YouTube behavior before relying on them: YouTube Playlist on the OBS forum.

Troubleshoot by symptom
