To stream wind-through-the-trees ambience on YouTube around the clock, prepare a video and audio loop you have the rights to use, send it through YouTube Live with an encoder, and monitor the stream for interruptions. You can keep one broadcast running continuously, but YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume a single 24-hour stream will produce a complete replay.
Prepare a wind-and-trees video that works as a loop
Use footage and sound you created, or obtain licenses that cover the planned YouTube live use and territory. YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions put responsibility for necessary rights on the person providing the live content, including applicable music licensing rights. A recording being easy to find or described informally as “free” does not establish that you have the rights needed for your broadcast.
Check the seam and the sound
- Play the end of the file directly into its beginning. Adjust or choose the footage so the image does not visibly jump at the loop point.
- Listen across the audio seam and keep the level consistent. Wind can create abrupt changes in loudness that are distracting during long listening sessions.
- Describe the presentation accurately. If a prerecorded clip repeats, say that it is a loop; do not present it as a live camera feed.
These are production recommendations rather than YouTube requirements. A fixed, genuinely live shot is another visual approach, but it still needs suitable audio and a reliable way to send the feed.
Check that your channel can go live
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube also states that live streamers must be at least 16 years old. Requirements and product behavior can change; check the linked guidance before setting up your broadcast.

Create the stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
- Create a live stream. Schedule it ahead of time if you want a watch page available before the broadcast; YouTube says scheduling lets viewers find the page and set reminders. See Manage live stream settings and Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder for the current flow.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio into your encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not be able to broadcast to your channel.
Configure and test the encoder
YouTube supports encoder-based streaming. In the encoder, enter the stream URL and key, select the video and audio inputs, and choose an output quality your upload connection can sustain. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance lists H.264, H.265, or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; and constant bitrate encoding among its supported settings.
Key settings to check
- Keyframe interval: YouTube recommends two seconds and says not to exceed four seconds.
- Resolution and bitrate: choose values suited to your footage and sustained upload capacity. A higher setting is not useful if the connection cannot maintain it; test the intended settings rather than assuming they will hold.
- Audio: confirm the encoder is sending the ambience track and that levels are steady, not merely that the video preview appears.
Before launching publicly, send a test with audio and movement comparable to the planned show. Inspect the Live Control Room preview and confirm both the picture and sound arrive correctly. YouTube’s live streaming tips also recommend checking stream quality while live, verifying that any local archive files are growing, and checking that viewers can reach the event from channel and watch pages, including on mobile.

Keep the broadcast continuous and plan the replay separately
A 24/7 channel presence and a complete replay are different goals. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not establish that a single 24-hour feed will be automatically saved as one complete replay. If a replay matters, decide in advance how long each broadcast should run and how you will preserve a recording; verify current YouTube behavior before relying on an archive.
For continuity, keep the encoder and its internet connection running, monitor stream health, and have a plan for a dropped connection or failed computer. YouTube’s guidance recommends ongoing checks of audio and video quality rather than treating a successful launch as proof that a long stream will remain healthy.

Understand copyright and monetization before going live
You need the rights for the footage and audio used in the stream, including applicable music rights. YouTube’s livestream terms state that the provider represents and warrants that they have the necessary rights for exploitation of the live content on Google services worldwide.
Monetization is conditional, not automatic. YouTube applies its video monetization rules to live streams. Its policy, clarified on July 15, 2025, identifies repetitive or mass-produced material as “inauthentic content” and says content should offer meaningful variation and creative, educational, or other value. That does not mean every ambience loop is automatically disqualified; originality, execution, and the channel’s eligibility are relevant to review. Check YouTube channel monetization policies for current rules.

Ads are not guaranteed to serve in every eligible slot. See Monetize your live stream. Consider whether ad interruptions fit the uninterrupted ambience experience viewers expect.

- The encoder will not connect: check that the stream URL and key are copied from the correct YouTube Studio event and entered in the matching encoder fields. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in Studio and update the encoder.
- The preview is blank or silent: confirm the right video and audio sources are selected, then send a test and inspect the Live Control Room preview before starting.
- The stream stutters or drops: reduce resolution or bitrate to a level the upload connection can sustain, then test again. Keep monitoring stream health after going live.
- The loop has a visible jump or audible bump: revisit the file’s end-to-start transition and use a better-matched segment or edit; a stream setting cannot repair a poor loop seam.
- The replay is incomplete or missing: do not assume a continuous 24-hour broadcast will be fully archived. YouTube’s stated automatic archive rule covers streams under 12 hours, so plan shorter broadcasts or a separate recording process if replay preservation matters.
- Monetization is unavailable or inconsistent: check channel eligibility and current policies, and remember that ads may not serve in every eligible slot. Repetitive or mass-produced content can raise inauthentic-content concerns.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you would rather not keep an encoder computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home; it does not stream from a camera.
