Stream Hatchet estimated 4.5 billion hours watched on Twitch and 1.3 billion on Kick in Q1 2026, with Kick up 65% year over year. Those are hours watched—not unique viewers—and neither platform guarantees that a new channel will be discovered. The better choice depends on your audience, monetization priorities, multistream plans, and community fit.
At a glance: Twitch vs. Kick
| What matters | Twitch | Kick | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Measured audience | 4.5 billion hours watched in Q1 2026. | 1.3 billion hours watched in Q1 2026; Stream Hatchet reported 65% year-over-year growth. | Stream Hatchet’s figures are estimates of hours watched across tracked platforms, not unique users. Overall scale does not predict discovery for a particular game, language, region, or channel. |
| Subscription revenue | Official materials describe a 50/50 standard Affiliate subscription split and higher qualifying Plus Program levels. | Kick says creators receive 95% of subscription revenue, with a 5% processing fee. | These are published headline terms, not an earnings forecast. Eligibility, audience conversion, fees, and account-specific terms matter. |
| Other creator revenue | Partners can also earn from ads; Twitch describes Affiliate and Partner levels. | Kick says its 95/5 split also applies to KICKs revenue. | Do not compare subscription percentages as if they represented every source of income on each platform. |
| Subscription access | Affiliate and Partner programs have eligibility requirements; verify the current requirements in Twitch’s official materials. | Kick’s June 2026 help article describes enabling subscriptions after five cumulative streaming hours, followed by dashboard setup. | Meeting a threshold does not guarantee subscribers or earnings. |
| Multistreaming | Simulcasting is permitted subject to Twitch’s terms and restrictions. | Kick’s described multistream feature applies to KICK Partner Program streamers. Kick says payout is reduced 50% during enabled multistream sessions. | Check both platforms’ current rules and any account-specific agreement before streaming to both at once. |
Audience figures are from Stream Hatchet’s Q1 2026 report, published June 11, 2026. Platform monetization terms can change; consult the current official terms linked below.
Which platform has more viewers?
Twitch had the larger measured audience in Q1 2026: Stream Hatchet estimated 4.5 billion hours watched, compared with 1.3 billion for Kick. Kick’s hours watched were up 65% year over year in the same report. These numbers offer a broad comparison of viewing activity, not a count of people or a prediction of how many viewers your channel will attract.
For a creator, the relevant audience is not just the platform-wide total. It is the people who watch your category, speak your language, live in your target regions, and are likely to find and return to your channel. Consider where your prospective community already watches, and compare category and community fit rather than treating a platform-wide figure as a personal growth forecast.

Which platform pays creators better?
Kick’s published 95/5 split
Kick says creators receive 95% of subscription revenue and KICKs revenue, with a 5% processing fee. Its help article describes a $5 monthly subscription and gives an example of $4.75 going to the creator and $0.25 to the processing fee. That example illustrates the stated split; it does not establish what an individual creator will earn after other circumstances or applicable terms.
Kick’s current help article says subscriptions can be enabled after five cumulative streaming hours, followed by setup in the dashboard. Read Kick’s explanation of its revenue split and its creator and partner guidance for the current process and conditions.

Twitch’s subscription and ad options
Twitch’s official materials describe a 50/50 standard subscription split for Affiliates and higher qualifying Plus Program levels. Partners can also earn from ads. The specific current Affiliate threshold is not established here, so check Twitch’s Affiliate Program FAQ and Partner Program overview for current eligibility and terms.
How to compare real earning potential
Kick’s headline split is more creator-favorable on its face for the revenue streams described, but the larger percentage alone does not determine which platform pays you more. Compare the terms you qualify for with your likely subscriber conversion, audience size, ad opportunities, fees, payout conditions, and any personalized program terms. Actual income depends on those factors—not just the split.

Can you stream on Twitch and Kick at the same time?
Both services have rules that can affect a simultaneous broadcast. Twitch permits simulcasting subject to its Simulcasting Guidelines and Terms of Service, including restrictions on combining activity from other platforms into the Twitch experience and directing Twitch viewers to another live stream.
Kick’s published multistream instructions apply to KICK Partner Program streamers. The streamer must enable the multistream option for long-form platforms such as Twitch, and Kick says payout is reduced by 50% during enabled multistream sessions. See Kick’s multistreaming guidance for the current terms.

Choose Twitch if audience scale and its established feature set lead
- You value Twitch’s larger measured hours-watched total in Q1 2026.
- You want to assess its Affiliate, Partner, Plus Program, and ad options against your eligibility and content plans.
- Your audience or the communities you want to join are already active there.
Consider Kick if its revenue terms and community fit lead
- You prioritize Kick’s published 95/5 split for subscriptions and KICKs.
- You are comfortable checking and meeting its program and payout conditions.
- Your intended audience and content are a good fit for Kick’s community and rules.
Kick’s Community Guidelines, updated March 19, 2026, prohibit specified harmful content, including hate speech and dangerous self-harm content, and describe context-based moderation for many cases. Written policy alone does not establish how consistently rules are enforced or which platform is safer in practice. Review each service’s policies, moderation tools, and community before committing.

A practical way to decide
- Identify your priority. Decide whether measured platform scale, a particular monetization model, or community fit matters most.
- Check the audience you want. Look at the games, languages, regions, and communities relevant to your channel; platform-wide hours watched are not a forecast for your stream.
- Verify current eligibility and terms. Review Twitch’s Affiliate and Partner materials and Kick’s creator guidance for your account and location.
- Evaluate multistreaming before you rely on it. Read Twitch’s simulcasting rules and Kick’s Partner Program requirements, including the stated payout reduction during Kick multistream sessions.
- Reassess with your own results. Compare the viewers, returning community, and eligible revenue you actually see rather than choosing from headline statistics alone.
Streaming setup: what matters before you go live
Platform choice does not require expensive equipment. Kick’s creator guidance says basic gear can improve stream quality but that the most expensive equipment is not necessary to get started. Prioritize reliable internet, clear audio, and a setup you can operate consistently; choose equipment to suit your budget, device compatibility, room acoustics, and workflow.
Or let it run in the cloud
If what you want is a prerecorded video running continuously on a YouTube channel, that is a different use case from live gaming on Twitch or Kick. StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live 24/7 from uploaded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
