For a mostly static property listing in standard dynamic range, start with OBS streaming to YouTube Live over RTMPS using H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), a 2-second keyframe interval, Rec. 709 color, and 30 frames per second. For 1080p30, YouTube recommends 14 Mbps video bitrate; for 720p30, it recommends 8 Mbps. Choose the lower profile if your real upload connection or computer cannot sustain the higher one reliably. These settings are starting points, not a guarantee of uninterrupted 24/7 operation.
Recommended OBS settings for a property listing
These profiles are for H.264 ingest to YouTube Live. YouTube’s bitrate numbers are video bitrate, not combined audio and video. Test the finished scene and connection under realistic operating conditions before leaving the stream unattended.

The bitrate figures are YouTube’s current H.264 ingest guidance, not guaranteed minimums for a stable stream or viewer download requirements. YouTube transcodes live streams into multiple output formats. A static listing usually has little reason to use 60 fps; 30 fps is a scene-based recommendation, not a platform rule. A higher output resolution will not restore detail missing from a low-resolution source. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and bitrate guidance.
Advanced encoder settings
YouTube recommends progressive scan, 2 B-frames, 1 reference frame, CABAC, and square pixels among its advanced settings. OBS may not expose every setting for every encoder, so use the controls available for your chosen encoder rather than assuming a particular hardware preset. YouTube also lists H.265/HEVC and AV1 ingest, but selection depends on OBS build, encoder support, and stream-key configuration; the profiles above deliberately use broadly compatible H.264 SDR settings.

Audio and latency
If the listing needs no audio, send a clean silent feed rather than adding unlicensed music or incidental room sound. Check OBS audio sources and tracks so a microphone or desktop audio source is not unintentionally live. YouTube accepts AAC or MP3 audio for RTMP/RTMPS and recommends AAC or MP3. For a non-interactive loop, normal latency is generally preferable: YouTube notes that lower latency can increase buffering.
Choose 1080p30 or 720p30
Use 1080p30 when the original property footage contains useful detail and both the encoder and upload connection sustain the recommended rate during a representative test. Use 720p30 when bandwidth is constrained or the 1080p profile proves less reliable. Check that signs, room details, and any on-screen property information remain readable at 720p. YouTube’s advice is to choose a quality that will result in a reliable stream based on the internet connection; a stable lower profile is better than a higher setting that repeatedly struggles.

Set up and test a 24/7 OBS stream
- Enable live streaming ahead of time. If the channel has never streamed, enable YouTube Live in advance; first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup steps.
- Create or schedule the stream. Choose its privacy and metadata deliberately in Live Control Room. Decide whether Auto-start and Auto-stop fit the way you operate. Those controls do not keep OBS, the computer, or the connection running after a failure. See YouTube’s live stream settings.
- Connect OBS securely. Select YouTube Live and RTMPS, then use the stream key associated with the intended event or channel setup. Treat the key like a password: do not share it or show it in a screen capture. YouTube generally detects encoder resolution and frame rate; manual resolution is available with a custom stream key.
- Build and inspect the scene. Add the listing video or stills, readable property details, and a clear loop transition. Confirm that the source itself repeats as intended. A media source or plugin can still fail, so a scene setting alone cannot guarantee recovery from every source fault.
- Apply the profile. Set output to H.264, CBR, the selected video bitrate, and a 2-second keyframe interval. Set the video to 1920×1080 at 30 fps or 1280×720 at 30 fps, Rec. 709, 8-bit SDR. If using audio, check AAC stereo at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz.
- Run a representative test. Test privately or unlisted using the actual listing media, movement, and audio conditions. Preview in Live Control Room, read stream-health messages, and confirm picture and sound on the channel or watch page and a mobile device. YouTube recommends testing in conditions resembling the real broadcast.
- Check upload capacity in the real environment. Test while other devices and normal network use are present. Leave practical headroom rather than treating the recommended video bitrate as the full connection requirement; no universal headroom figure is established. Wired Ethernet can be a useful setup choice, but it cannot fix inadequate service or an upstream outage.
- Plan for failures and monitoring. Consider power, router, computer, software, and source failures. Test restart and recovery procedures, set a human monitoring schedule, and consider a backup encoder/feed only if the continuity need justifies the cost. YouTube describes failover testing when a backup encoder is configured; it does not promise that every stream will fail over automatically. During the event, monitor stream health and review messages.
- Review operation over time. Periodically inspect stream health and public playback. Record dates and incidents so you can determine whether a change to bitrate, network, or source actually helped.
What 24/7 operation can and cannot guarantee
OBS settings determine how the encoder sends video; they do not make a home computer, power supply, router, internet service, media source, or YouTube event failure-proof. YouTube’s published encoder guidance and event procedures do not establish an end-to-end 24/7 uptime guarantee or promise that one live event will remain continuous indefinitely. Treat continuity as an operational problem: test recovery, monitor the feed, and be clear about what happens if the feed drops.
