If Go live is missing from YouTube’s Create menu, check your channel’s live-stream eligibility in YouTube Studio first. Your channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days, and have live streaming enabled. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. If you’re trying to stream from the YouTube mobile app, you also need at least 50 subscribers and a supported device.
Start with the streaming method
YouTube’s requirements differ depending on whether you’re using a phone or a computer. The mobile app has an additional subscriber threshold; YouTube’s computer setup guidance covers webcam and encoder streams without stating that threshold for those methods.

YouTube’s current general guidance says you must be at least 16 years old to start a live stream. Check YouTube’s current requirements if your account or device may be subject to additional eligibility rules.
Check and enable live streaming in YouTube Studio
- On a computer, open YouTube Studio.
- Go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
- Inspect the live-streaming status. YouTube says the features you can use show as “Enabled” in this area; some features have separate eligibility requirements.
- If live streaming is available to enable, follow the on-screen instructions. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. That is an upper activation window in its guidance, not a guarantee that access will appear at a particular time.
- After activation, return to YouTube and check the Create menu for the live-streaming option.
Verify the channel and check for restrictions
Live streaming requires a verified YouTube channel and no live-streaming restriction within the previous 90 days. If either condition is not met, the Live option may not be available. Check the channel’s status and any YouTube notifications or restrictions before trying to enable streaming again.

If you’re trying to go live on a phone
Mobile live streaming has requirements beyond the general channel checks. Confirm that the channel has at least 50 subscribers, the device meets YouTube’s supported-device requirements, the channel is verified, live streaming is enabled, and there has been no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s mobile help page lists device operating-system requirements, which can change; check its current version for your device.
If you’re using a computer
YouTube supports live streaming from a computer using a webcam or an encoder. A webcam stream still requires live streaming to have been enabled for the channel first. For encoder streaming, follow YouTube’s setup instructions in Live Control Room and use the stream key shown for that stream. Do not share your stream key: anyone with it may be able to send video to your live stream.

Still can’t find the option?
- You just enabled live streaming: Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation before treating the missing option as unresolved.
- You’re on mobile and have fewer than 50 subscribers: The mobile eligibility threshold is not met. This threshold should not be assumed to apply to computer webcam or encoder streaming.
- The channel is not verified or has a recent live restriction: Resolve the relevant channel eligibility issue; repeatedly checking the Create menu will not change that status.
- The published checks all look correct: YouTube’s public help pages cannot reveal an individual channel’s internal status. Use YouTube’s in-product feedback or the support route available to your account rather than assuming a specific cause such as an account flag or app problem.
