Not automatically. If you are replaying a video you made, that does not fit YouTube’s clearest definition of reused content: republishing material from YouTube or elsewhere without significant changes or added value. But repeatedly airing the same material may raise a separate concern under YouTube’s policy on repetitive or mass-produced content, now called inauthentic content. YouTube does not give a categorical ruling that every loop of a creator’s own video is either eligible or ineligible for monetization.
Reused content and inauthentic content are different policy concerns
YouTube’s reused content policy focuses on material already available on YouTube or another online source. The issue is whether the channel adds significant original commentary, substantive modifications, or educational or entertainment value, rather than simply republishing that material. YouTube says the reused-content review applies to the channel as a whole and is separate from copyright enforcement.
When a creator loops their own video, the more direct question is usually not whether they reused someone else’s work, but whether the channel’s output is repetitive or inauthentic. YouTube says monetized content should be original and authentic, and cautions against material that is mass-produced, generic, or repetitive. Applying that guidance to a loop of a creator’s own work is an interpretation of the published policy, not a specific ruling by YouTube about that scenario.
What YouTube’s review can consider
YouTube says reviewers may assess a channel’s main theme, most-viewed and newest videos, videos responsible for the largest share of watch time, titles, thumbnails, descriptions, and About section. Reviewers cannot check every video and may look at other parts of the channel to assess compliance. A livestream is part of that broader channel picture; the policy does not provide a separate pass for content simply because it is live.

That makes the stream’s actual value to viewers and its place in the channel important considerations. For example, adding meaningful new material or context may make a stream less repetitive in substance, but the policy does not prescribe a formula for doing so. A particular number of loops, stream length, commentary frequency, or percentage of new material is not a published safe harbor.
Ownership does not settle copyright or monetization
Making the video yourself is relevant to the reused-content distinction, but it does not by itself establish that a channel meets every monetization policy. Copyright is a separate question: YouTube explicitly distinguishes reused-content review from copyright enforcement. A creator may own the recording and still need to consider rights in music, footage, artwork, or other included material; conversely, the reused-content policy is not itself a copyright ruling.

What changed in YouTube’s policy wording
YouTube’s channel monetization policy page records a July 15, 2025 update renaming “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” to clarify that repetitive or mass-produced material is covered. YouTube said the update did not change the reused-content policy. The page also says: “There is no change to our reused content policy which reviews content like commentary, clips, compilations, and reaction videos.” It separately advises: “Be your original creation. If you borrow content from someone else, you need to change it significantly to make it your own.” These are statements on YouTube Help’s “YouTube channel monetization policies” page; no individual speaker is identified.
How to assess a planned loop
- Identify what is being replayed. If it is your own video, that fact alone does not make the stream reused content. If it includes material from another source, consider whether you have added significant commentary, modification, or educational or entertainment value.
- Look at the stream and the channel together. Consider whether the loop gives viewers meaningful value, and how it fits alongside the channel’s other videos and overall theme. Reviewers may consider channel-wide material and metadata, not just one livestream.
- Do not rely on an assumed numeric threshold. YouTube’s published policy does not state a safe number of repeats, minimum stream duration, or required amount of commentary for a loop.
- Keep copyright questions separate. Check rights to all included material; a conclusion about reused content does not resolve copyright issues.
Possible monetization consequences
YouTube says violating channel monetization policies may result in monetization being suspended or permanently disabled on any or all of a creator’s accounts. That is the possible policy-level consequence; it is not a prediction that every channel looping its own video will be demonetized. The published policy does not specify a guaranteed outcome for every individual loop.

A cloud playback option, not a monetization shortcut
If you choose to run an uploaded recording as a YouTube livestream, StreamNeo can keep that playback running from the cloud: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer does not have to stay on, and StreamNeo automatically attempts recovery if YouTube drops the stream. It does not make a video more original, change YouTube’s monetization rules, or guarantee monetization eligibility. StreamNeo is a YouTube playback service, not a way to go live from a camera.
