Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteSwitch radio programs in the encoder or playout system that creates your outgoing audio-video feed—not in YouTube’s broadcast scheduler. Prepare each show as a selectable or scheduled item in that system, keep it connected to the same YouTube stream, and check the outgoing feed before relying on an automatic handoff. The exact controls depend on the software or service you use.
Where program switching happens
A YouTube live stream has two separate parts: the broadcast event on YouTube and the content source sending audio and video to it. YouTube’s encoder workflow connects software or hardware that supplies the content. That encoder or playout setup is where you change from one radio program to another.
YouTube Studio can help you schedule and manage a broadcast event. The YouTube Live Streaming API manages event states such as testing and live. Those broadcast controls are not documented as radio-show playlists or timed program handoffs. Changing an event’s state is therefore not the same as switching the show being sent into it.
Set up the program handoff
- Prepare the shows in your playout system. Add each program as a selectable or scheduled item in the software, cloud service, or hardware setup that produces the feed. Confirm that it supports the kind of handoff you need—manual selection, timed changes, or a playlist. The controls and automation differ by tool.
- Connect the encoder to the intended YouTube stream. YouTube’s encoder guidance describes using the YouTube stream URL and stream key, then starting the encoder. Keep the existing destination and key in use if you want the shows to run through the same broadcast.
- Check the outgoing feed before depending on automation. Preview the actual output and confirm that the next program’s audio and any accompanying video appear as intended. Do a handoff test before leaving the stream unattended; the YouTube materials explain the connection and broadcast workflow, not how to configure crossfades, cues, or schedules inside a particular playout application.
- Go live at the right point in the workflow. For a scheduled event, YouTube describes setting it up in Studio and starting the encoder when it is time. Use Live Control Room to go live when appropriate. Starting or scheduling the YouTube event does not itself select the radio show.
Choose a setup that fits your schedule
YouTube lists software encoders, cloud services, and hardware options, but its directory does not compare their radio scheduling features, continuity, reliability, or costs. Check the product documentation for the specific controls you need rather than assuming that a tool listed for live or continuous streaming can schedule radio programs.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Local software encoder and playout: YouTube lists OBS as open-source software for video recording and live streaming at no charge. The YouTube listing does not specify OBS controls for automatically switching radio shows. Verify the workflow and automation in the current version and configuration you plan to use.
- Cloud playout: YouTube lists Gyre as a cloud tool for 24/7 live streaming of prerecorded videos. The listing does not establish its radio-program scheduling features, so confirm that it supports your required sequence and handoffs.
- Dedicated hardware: YouTube lists the AJA HELO Plus as a standalone hardware encoder and says its PlayToStream function can schedule prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live without a computer. That listing does not establish that it suits every continuous radio use case.
Compare options on timed program changes, operator involvement, continuity during handoffs, monitoring and recovery, cost, and how they affect the YouTube watch page and archive workflow. YouTube’s directory identifies these kinds of options; it does not settle those comparisons for a particular radio setup.
Plan the broadcast and archive separately
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If you are planning a continuous channel, account for that documented duration boundary when deciding how to structure broadcasts and archives. The guidance cited here does not establish archive behavior for streams that run 12 hours or longer.

Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded content; it does not go live from a camera. Its stated features include playlists and 24/7 looping, but confirm that its playlist controls match the specific timed radio handoffs you need.

Troubleshoot a program change
- The YouTube broadcast stays live, but the show does not change: The event and the program source are separate. Check that the selection or schedule changed in your encoder or playout system, not only in YouTube Studio.
- The stream is not reaching YouTube: Check that the encoder is sending to the intended YouTube stream URL with the correct stream key, then confirm the encoder is running and use Live Control Room as appropriate.
- The next show does not start automatically: Confirm that your chosen tool supports timed changes and that the item is actually scheduled or queued in its own controls. YouTube’s broadcast scheduling alone is not evidence that the playout system has a show schedule.
- You cannot confirm what listeners are hearing: Check the encoder’s outgoing preview or monitoring view during a test handoff. The platform-level broadcast status does not by itself verify that the correct program is in the feed.
- You expect an archive from a continuous stream: Check the stream duration against YouTube’s stated under-12-hour automatic archiving condition and plan the broadcast structure accordingly.
Keep rights and YouTube rules in view
Before broadcasting music, recordings, or other material, make sure you have the rights needed for a YouTube live stream. Program switching does not change copyright obligations. Review YouTube’s current live-stream requirements and applicable rules for reused content before building a channel around prerecorded shows.
