Only if you have the necessary rights for every video and track, and meet YouTube’s livestream requirements. A video being available on YouTube, included in a playlist, purchased, or credited to its artist does not by itself grant permission to rebroadcast it live. YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content and may interrupt or terminate a stream. Even a licence may not prevent an interruption if the rights holder has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
What permission do you need?
YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions put responsibility on the livestream provider to have all necessary rights to use the live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights. For a music video playlist, do not assume one permission covers every component: the audiovisual video, the sound recording, and the musical composition may involve different rights holders.
Before broadcasting, get written permission that explicitly covers the intended audiovisual use as a YouTube livestream, the territories where viewers may watch, and the continuous duration you plan to run it. Ask whether the permission also covers keeping an archive of the stream. The exact rights and contract terms depend on the catalogue and licence; YouTube does not provide a universal clearance form for music-video playlists.
Why a licensed stream can still be interrupted
YouTube says that livestreams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including another copyrighted live broadcast. When a match is identified, YouTube may show a placeholder image and warn you to stop using the content. If it remains, the stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. A copyright or Community Guidelines strike can also lead to termination. See YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
YouTube specifically advises creators who have licensed third-party content to ask the owner to add their channel to its Content ID allowlist. Without allowlisting, a licensed stream may still be interrupted. Restricting a stream to territories where you believe you hold rights does not, by itself, prevent this matching issue.
There is no general safe duration or 24/7 exception in YouTube’s guidance. Running the playlist continuously does not change the rights requirement or prevent matching.

Check each video before you go live
- Identify the rights holders. Check who controls the audiovisual video, recording, and composition; do not assume a single label or platform controls all rights.
- Confirm the scope in writing. Make sure the permission covers YouTube livestreaming, the specific works, the relevant territories, and continuous use. Confirm whether retaining the stream as an archive is allowed.
- Ask about Content ID allowlisting. Ask each relevant rights holder whether your channel needs to be allowlisted, and have that completed before broadcasting.
- Check YouTube account eligibility separately. YouTube lists channel verification and no livestreaming restriction within the preceding 90 days among its go-live requirements. These requirements do not grant copyright permission. See YouTube’s live-stream setup requirements.
- Have a response plan. If YouTube warns that content has been matched, follow its instructions and stop using or replace the identified material. Leaving it in the broadcast can lead to interruption or termination.
Does buying, crediting, or calling music “free” make it safe?
No. Buying a copy or crediting the artist does not establish that you have a licence to broadcast it live. YouTube notes that Content ID cannot tell whether a creator acquired rights elsewhere, and that a “free” description does not prove music is copyright-safe. Check the actual licence and its permitted uses in YouTube’s guidance on safe music.
YouTube’s Creator Music guidance says its licensed or revenue-sharing tracks are for long-form videos, not livestreams or Shorts. Creator Music therefore is not a route to soundtrack a 24/7 live playlist.

What happens to an archived livestream?
If the broadcast is archived, YouTube says Content ID claims are made after the livestream is complete. Permission to use music live should not be assumed to cover keeping the recording available afterward. Check that your rights include archive or video-on-demand use, and review the completed stream for any claims.
What are the safer alternatives?
- Use original music and video for which you control the necessary rights.
- Use public-domain material only after checking that the specific work and recording are actually free of relevant restrictions.
- For background music in creator videos, consider YouTube’s Audio Library or other music with licence terms that clearly permit your intended use. A “free” label alone is not a guarantee.
- If you want commercial music videos, obtain permissions that cover the exact livestream use and handle any required Content ID allowlisting before going live.
A lawful route may be possible when all relevant owners grant the required permissions and any allowlisting is in place. No single general permission or playlist setting can establish rights for every music video.
