If a YouTube 24/7 stream keeps buffering on Airtel Xstream Fiber, lower playback quality first, then compare the same stream on another device and over Wi-Fi versus Ethernet. Those checks help narrow down whether the problem is the stream quality, device, home Wi-Fi or wider connection; they do not by themselves identify a fault on Airtel’s line.
1. Lower YouTube playback quality
In the YouTube player, open Settings → Quality and select a lower available resolution. If playback becomes steadier, the change is a useful workaround and diagnostic clue, but it does not prove that your broadband plan is inadequate. The picture will have less detail. YouTube and Airtel both recommend lowering quality as a buffering check.
YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance also notes that live programming can be delayed by network congestion and other factors. That general warning does not establish that Airtel is responsible for a particular interruption.
2. Find out how widely the problem occurs
- Replay the same live stream on another supported device.
- Try a different YouTube video and, if practical, another streaming service.
- If available, compare the same stream using a different internet connection.
If only one device or the YouTube app has trouble, focus on that device or app. If several devices and services are affected, investigate the home connection and contact Airtel if the issue continues. A comparison narrows the possibilities; it is not a definitive diagnosis of where the fault lies.

3. Check the app, device or browser
- Close and reopen YouTube, or refresh the page.
- On devices that offer the option, clear the YouTube app cache.
- Restart the device and install available app and system updates.
- In a browser, test another browser or a private window; use YouTube’s supported app or youtube.com.
Menu names and cache controls vary by device. Airtel’s YouTube buffering suggestions also include checking the app or browser, restarting equipment and reducing competing network use.
4. Test Wi-Fi placement and household network use
Move the viewing device closer to the router and away from obvious obstructions. For a short test, pause other devices’ heavy network activity and see whether the same stream improves.

Airtel describes 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi as generally having longer range and 5 GHz as faster over a shorter range. Neither band is always best: distance, walls, equipment and interference affect the result. Try the available band that works more reliably at the viewing location rather than assuming a frequency alone will fix buffering.
5. Compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet
If your TV or computer has an Ethernet port, connect it temporarily to the ONT/router with a suitable RJ45 cable and replay the same stream. Airtel’s fiber guide describes Cat5/Cat6 cabling for a wired connection. If Ethernet improves playback, Wi-Fi conditions may be contributing; that result alone does not prove the router is defective.

Before buying a cable for this test, check the device’s port and the length needed to reach the router. A wired comparison is diagnostic, not a guaranteed fix.
6. Check and restart the fiber equipment
- Check that the ONT/router has power and that visible connections are secure.
- Handle the fiber patch cord gently. Airtel warns that acute bends can degrade connection quality; do not tug or bend the cord as an experiment.
- To restart the ONT/router, disconnect its power, wait roughly 15–20 seconds until the lights go off, reconnect it, and allow time for the connection to re-establish.
- If your Airtel Thanks app offers it, try its Wi-Fi optimization option. App navigation can change.

7. Know when to contact support
Contact Airtel through its current support channel if multiple devices or services are failing, or connection indicators remain abnormal after basic checks. If only YouTube playback is affected after device and connection comparisons, send feedback through YouTube Help and Feedback.
When reporting the issue, note when it happened, which device you used, whether other services worked, and whether switching to Ethernet or another connection changed the symptom. Those observations can help support narrow the problem. They cannot reveal an address-specific outage, account fault or line condition without access to Airtel’s systems.
