To run a 24/7 Kannada film-songs stream with FFmpeg, you need both a rights-cleared library and a computer or server that can continuously encode and send it to YouTube. FFmpeg can loop and transmit media; it cannot grant permission to broadcast the songs. Clear each recording for continuous live use—and for any archive you intend to keep—before building the stream.
The practical workflow is to prepare compatible files, make a repeatable playlist, configure YouTube Live ingest, test the output, and arrange supervision and recovery. A command alone cannot guarantee uninterrupted service: the host, network, source files, YouTube event and rights checks all affect whether the stream stays live.
Can you stream Kannada film songs if you have permission?
Yes, if your permissions cover the specific recordings and the way you plan to use them. YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions require the necessary rights for live content, including music rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Verify the rights for each track, the territories where viewers may access the stream, the permission term, and whether the permission covers continuous live transmission and retention of an archived stream.
Buying a song, finding a file online, crediting the artists or running the stream without charge does not by itself establish broadcast rights. Rights can differ by recording and territory; YouTube’s guidance does not identify who controls any particular Kannada film song, so confirm the chain of permission with the relevant rights holders.

Check Content ID allowlisting before launch
YouTube says it scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match may cause a warning, a placeholder to replace the live picture, or an interruption or termination. A licensed stream can still be interrupted if the channel has not been added to the rights owner’s Content ID allowlist. Ask each applicable rights holder whether allowlisting is needed and have it confirmed for the channel before going live; a license does not automatically mean the channel is allowlisted.
Prepare files and build a repeatable playlist
Use authorized master files that your installed FFmpeg build can read. A dependable playlist starts with media that has compatible stream layouts and timestamps. If your tracks differ in codecs, sample rates, resolutions or stream structure, test them together; normalize or transcode incompatible files before relying on the concat demuxer. Do not assume concatenation will be gapless just because the files appear in order.
Create a concat playlist
For the concat demuxer, make a UTF-8 text file named playlist.txt with one entry per track. Paths are relative to the playlist file unless you use absolute paths.
file 'track-001.mp4'
file 'track-002.mp4'
file 'track-003.mp4'
Put the entries in the order you want to play. Use actual authorized media filenames. If a filename contains a single quote, escape it according to FFmpeg’s concat-demuxer syntax; test the list before using it on a public stream. The concat demuxer is documented in FFmpeg’s format documentation, but suitability depends on the media’s streams and timestamps.

Check the list locally before looping it
Run the playlist once to confirm FFmpeg can read every entry and that transitions and audio are acceptable. For example, this diagnostic command decodes the playlist to a null output instead of sending it to YouTube:
ffmpeg -f concat -safe 0 -i playlist.txt -f null -
Review the output for missing files, decode errors, unexpected gaps and tracks that end early. This check does not confirm rights, YouTube ingest compatibility or long-run reliability.
Configure YouTube Live and protect the stream key
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream using the current interface.
- Retrieve the stream URL and stream key shown for that event. Use the current ingest details rather than a URL or key copied from an old event.
- Prefer RTMPS where it is offered and supported by your FFmpeg build. YouTube recommends RTMPS, its encrypted extension to RTMP, and says to obtain the secure URL in Live Control Room.
- Keep the stream key private, as you would a password. Do not put it in a public playlist, screenshot, source repository or command transcript. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder configuration.
- Combine the URL and key only as YouTube’s current encoder instructions specify. Save the resulting destination in a protected environment variable or secret store rather than embedding the key in a script that others can read.
Choose FFmpeg output settings for YouTube Live
Use YouTube’s current Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance for the resolution and frame rate you intend to send. Its published recommendations cover protocols, codecs and audio settings, recommend constant bitrate (CBR), and recommend a two-second keyframe interval. Bitrate depends on the selected output resolution and frame rate; there is no single safe value for every stream. Confirm the applicable figures in YouTube’s current table and ensure your stable upload capacity can sustain the output.
Example command for compatible files
The following is a command pattern, not a tested universal production configuration. It assumes that the playlist entries have compatible streams and that you want a 30 fps output. Set the environment variables from the current YouTube recommendations and the event’s ingest details before running it. The video bitrate and audio bitrate should be the values appropriate to your chosen output, not arbitrary values copied from an example.

Replace the explanatory values shown in quotes with the correct values before execution; they are not literal settings. Keep the key out of shell history and process listings where your operating system or launch method would expose it. FFmpeg options and accepted codecs can vary with the installed build, so check that build’s help and test with the exact files and output you will use.
-re reads the input at its native rate rather than sending a prerecorded playlist as fast as the encoder can process it. -stream_loop -1 requests indefinite input looping; option placement matters because it is an input option. The GOP values shown correspond to a two-second keyframe interval at the example’s 30 fps. If you choose another frame rate, adjust the keyframe interval to two seconds and verify it in the output. The command re-encodes to H.264 and AAC; it is not a no-reencode copy operation.
If your source files do not include suitable video, do not assume an audio-only playlist will create an acceptable video stream. Prepare a visual source that you have rights to use, and test the resulting audio and video together. A static image, slate or other visual also needs to be appropriate for the stream and cleared for its intended use.
Test the stream before making it public
- Start with an unlisted or test event where the YouTube account and interface allow it.
- Run the exact FFmpeg build, playlist, output settings and ingest destination planned for production.
- Check the Live Control Room preview for picture, audio, stream health and warnings. Also open the watch page on a separate device to catch problems a local preview may not reveal.
- Listen through transitions and inspect the visual output. Verify track order, audio continuity, volume consistency, file availability and the behavior when the playlist reaches its end and loops.
- Test the failure cases you can safely simulate, including a temporarily unavailable network and a stopped FFmpeg process. Confirm that alerts reach the person responsible and that restart or recovery restores the stream.
- Only make the stream public after rights, allowlisting where needed, ingest, playback and recovery procedures have been checked.
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance recommends testing and monitoring stream health. A preview working once does not establish that a 24/7 operation will remain healthy indefinitely.

Keep FFmpeg running and plan for recovery
A 24/7 setup needs a host with continuous power, a stable internet connection, adequate upload bandwidth, available storage and a process supervisor or operator who can respond to failures. A dedicated server can avoid depending on a home computer, but it still has network, host and maintenance failure modes. Arrange monitoring for the FFmpeg process and the YouTube stream, plus alerts for loss of output or a failing source file.
FFmpeg’s FIFO muxer documents output recovery options, including attempts to recover after failures and delays before retries. These options can help with temporary output problems; they do not guarantee uptime or repair every failure. A server outage, power loss, exhausted disk, damaged source, changed stream key, network interruption or YouTube enforcement action can still stop the broadcast. Test recovery with the exact build and configuration before relying on it.
Plan YouTube events and archives for continuous operation
YouTube’s encoder setup article says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that one event can remain live indefinitely or that a 24/7 event will be archived as you expect. Check the current account interface and YouTube behavior, then decide whether to use managed sessions, create fresh events, or follow another currently supported operating arrangement. Include who will start and verify each session in the operating plan.
Cost and trade-offs of an FFmpeg setup
FFmpeg is software, but a continuous stream still has operating costs: the machine or server, power, network capacity, storage, monitoring and the time needed to maintain it. The key trade-off is control versus operational responsibility. Running FFmpeg yourself gives you direct control over the source and encoding process; you are also responsible for keeping the process and host healthy. YouTube notes that expensive equipment is not necessary to start with an encoder, and hardware encoding is an alternative for creators who want dedicated encoding equipment.
