Compute-only estimate: Google Cloud’s listed on-demand price for an E2 high-CPU VM with 2 vCPUs and 2 GiB of memory is $0.04947024 per hour. At an illustrative 730 hours, that is about $36.11 USD for VM compute. It is not a complete monthly bill, and the example machine is not a tested or guaranteed fit for a particular stream.

Illustrative monthly compute cost

Google’s 2026 Compute Engine VM price sheet, accessed October 3, 2026, lists the E2 high-CPU 2-vCPU, 2-GiB configuration at $0.04947024 per hour on demand. The arithmetic is $0.04947024 × 730 = $36.1132752, or approximately $36.11 USD. A 730-hour month is an estimating convention; actual calendar months have different lengths. Check the Compute Engine VM pricing page and Google’s live Pricing Calculator for the selected machine and region before deploying.

The price sheet lists Mumbai (asia-south1) and Delhi (asia-south2) among E2 regions. Confirm the selected zone, machine availability, and current rate in the console or calculator. The estimate is in USD and does not convert the charge to INR or include taxes, negotiated rates, or discounts.

What the estimate includes—and leaves out

The $36.11 figure covers only the illustrative VM compute arithmetic. Google bills vCPU and memory for at least one minute, then in one-second increments; a VM that remains running accrues uptime charges even while idle. For an always-on stream, budget for the VM’s running time, not only the hours when viewers are watching. Google’s VM pricing FAQ describes the billing increments.

  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Allow separately for persistent disk, image or license charges where applicable, and configured add-ons such as GPUs. The VM price page does not include every resource that can appear on a bill. Networking also needs careful treatment: YouTube transfer has a specific no-charge rule, but traffic to other internet destinations may be billable. Use the calculator with the complete configuration rather than treating the compute illustration as an all-in price.

Does sending the stream to YouTube add network charges?

Google’s network pricing page lists data transfer from a VM to specific Google products, including YouTube, as “No charge,” whether the VM uses an external or internal IP address. This applies to the stated VM-to-YouTube traffic; it does not waive compute or other resource charges, and it should not be generalized to traffic sent to other destinations. See Google Cloud network pricing.

Google says Premium Tier is the default for Cloud data transfer and lists egress prices according to destination. If your workflow sends traffic elsewhere—for example, to a separate ingest or storage endpoint—check the applicable origin, destination, and rate in the network price sheet.

Can the example VM handle your stream?

The title alone does not specify resolution, bitrate, codec, encoding mode, source workflow, protocol, or redundancy needs, so it cannot establish a suitable machine size. The E2 high-CPU example is a price reference, not a performance recommendation or a tested streaming configuration. Choose a VM based on the actual workload, then validate it under that workload.

Google documents outbound bandwidth limits that vary by machine series and routing. For most machine series, egress to external destinations has a 3-Gbps per-flow maximum; total throughput is also limited by machine type and project quota. Compare the chosen instance’s actual limits with the stream bitrate and protocol. Review Compute Engine bandwidth limits.

Build a more accurate Google Cloud estimate

  1. Specify the workload. Record resolution, frame rate, bitrate, codec, whether the VM must encode or only relay a source, and any redundancy requirement.
  2. Select a region and machine. Compare the available machine types and zones in Mumbai or Delhi, or another region appropriate to your audience and workflow. Do not infer streaming performance from the hourly price.
  3. Add every billable resource. Include the disk size and type, image or license costs if applicable, and any GPU or other configured resource.
  4. Separate destinations. Apply Google’s no-charge rule only to VM-to-YouTube transfer; estimate any other outbound traffic using its destination-specific rate.
  5. Check network capacity and run a workload test. Confirm the machine and project limits against your bitrate and protocol, then verify that the chosen VM sustains the intended stream.
  6. Enter the configuration in Google’s Pricing Calculator. Review current regional rates, billing duration, and any discount eligibility there; the illustrative estimate does not account for sustained-use or committed-use discounts.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is simply to keep uploaded videos looping as a YouTube live stream, StreamNeo avoids keeping a Compute Engine VM configured and running at home or managing a streaming PC: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The service runs from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. Each slot streams the uploaded quality, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos and streams to YouTube only; it does not stream from a camera. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
