To loop a prerecorded product launch presentation on YouTube Live, play the finished video in an encoder with repeat enabled, then send that encoder’s feed to a YouTube Live event. YouTube receives the live feed; the encoder controls the repeat. Test the full playback and stream health before promoting the event.
What you need before you start
- A finished presentation exported as a video file that your encoder can play.
- A computer running an encoder for the do-it-yourself method, plus a reliable upload connection.
- A YouTube channel able to create a live stream.
- The stream URL and private stream key from YouTube Studio.
A microphone is only necessary if someone will speak live over the presentation. The prerecorded video can run without one.
Prepare the presentation for viewers joining mid-loop
Check the opening and ending together. If the last frame cuts abruptly to the first, revise the edit or transition so each repeat feels intentional. Make the product name, offer terms, and store URL readable long enough for viewers who arrive partway through a cycle. Confirm you have the rights to use all music, images, clips, and other material in the video; a live format does not remove the need to resolve rights.
Create the YouTube Live event
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
- Create a stream or schedule one from the Manage tab. Scheduling gives you an event page to share and lets viewers set reminders.
- Enter the title, description, thumbnail, and visibility. Choose public, unlisted, or private deliberately; YouTube notes that privacy defaults vary by age.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the event. Treat the key like a password: do not include it in screenshots, recordings, or public instructions.

Connect the encoder and enable repeat playback
- Open your encoder and create a scene or output for the presentation.
- Add the exported video as a media input. In that input’s playback controls, turn on the encoder’s repeat or loop option. The exact label and location depend on the encoder, so verify the current interface for the version you use.
- If you are using a playlist, check its order and confirm the playlist itself repeats; repeating a single media item does not necessarily repeat a playlist.
- In the encoder’s streaming settings, choose YouTube if offered. Otherwise enter YouTube’s server URL in the server field and paste the stream key into the key field. YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS encoder connections and recommends RTMPS for an encrypted connection.
- Set the output resolution and frame rate to match the prepared video and the upload connection. Avoid choosing a higher output than the source can usefully provide.
YouTube’s connection instructions describe the platform side of the setup; repeat behavior is controlled by the encoder, not by a YouTube Live loop switch. See YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance.
Choose stream settings and test the whole loop
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video encoding, frame rates up to 60 fps, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval (not exceeding four seconds). Encoder capabilities vary, so use settings your encoder actually supports.

The cited YouTube Help page gives these H.264 recommended video bitrates. Treat them as recommendations, not minimum requirements; match quality to the available upload connection and test before the event.

Before the launch, play representative material and check audio, motion, the start-to-end transition, and the return to the beginning. Confirm the outgoing bitrate is sustainable on the connection and monitor YouTube’s stream health. YouTube’s guidance says tests should include audio and video movement similar to the planned stream.

Start the event, monitor it, and finish cleanly
- Start the encoder and wait for the incoming preview in YouTube Live Control Room.
- For a scheduled event, select Go Live when the preview is ready unless your setup has auto-start enabled. Starting the encoder feed and making the scheduled event public can be separate actions.
- Keep the encoder and computer running throughout the broadcast. Watch stream health and confirm the presentation continues repeating.
- At the planned finish, end the event in Live Control Room and stop the encoder feed.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If the planned loop may run longer and you need a complete replay, arrange a separate recording or archive plan rather than relying on the YouTube archive alone.
Choose a setup that fits the launch

YouTube’s encoder guide names the AJA HELO Plus and describes its PlayToStream feature as scheduling prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live without a computer. Treat that as one example to evaluate, not a requirement or endorsement.

Troubleshooting common loop problems
- No preview appears: Check that the encoder is running, that the correct server URL and stream key are entered, and that the event is open in Live Control Room. Re-copy the key if necessary, and keep it private.
- The video plays once and stops: Confirm repeat is enabled on the media input or playlist in the encoder. YouTube does not supply the repeat control.
- The scheduled page is not live: Wait for the encoder preview, then use the event’s Go Live action unless auto-start is enabled for the setup.
- Playback stutters or stream health degrades: Test upload capacity and lower output quality or bitrate to a sustainable setting. YouTube advises choosing quality according to the available connection.
- The transition between repeats looks wrong: Review the file’s ending and opening as a single transition, then export a revised version if needed.
- The archive is incomplete: A YouTube archive is stated to be automatic for streams under 12 hours. Plan an independent recording for a longer event that must be preserved in full.
