First enable livestreaming on your verified channel, configure the service with YouTube’s stream URL and key, and monitor the stream after it goes live.
What you need before you start
- A verified YouTube channel with livestreaming enabled and no livestream restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube says first-time livestream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your planned launch. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance explains the current requirements.
- A cloud encoder or service designed to run prerecorded video continuously and send it to YouTube Live.
- Video and audio files you have permission to broadcast, plus a plan for how the stream will recover if the connection to YouTube drops.
- A separate archival plan if you need a complete recording of the entire 24-hour broadcast.
Choose and configure a cloud service
Look for a service that supports continuous prerecorded playback, YouTube’s ingest settings, reconnect or failover behavior, monitoring, and the archive workflow you need. YouTube’s encoder guidance lists AWS Elemental MediaLive and Gyre as relevant options; that listing establishes relevance, not a ranking, price comparison, or uptime guarantee. Verify each provider’s current features, regional availability, support, and total cost before choosing.
- Prepare your YouTube channel. In YouTube Studio, confirm that livestreaming is enabled and that the channel has no current restrictions. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create the livestream in YouTube Studio. Open the live control room and create or schedule a stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your cloud encoder. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your stream. YouTube’s encoder setup explains how to connect using these details.
- Set the program and loop behavior. Add your prepared videos or playlist to the cloud service, set the playback order and repeat behavior, and confirm what happens at the end of each file. Check that transitions do not leave long gaps or expose unintended content.
- Configure the video output. For H.264 at 1080p and 30 fps, YouTube recommends a video bitrate of 10 Mbps. Its general encoder guidance recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval. These are YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular service or plan can sustain them; test a lower resolution or bitrate if the stream is unstable. See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance.
- Use RTMPS when available. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encoder ingest. Select the secure ingest URL supplied by YouTube if your cloud service offers the corresponding option.
- Run a test before going public. Use an unlisted test or another suitable test setup. Check the YouTube preview, sound levels, picture quality, watch-page access, playlist order, and whether the cloud service reconnects as expected. YouTube advises testing and monitoring stream health; verify any failover behavior you plan to depend on.
- Launch and keep watch. Once the test is satisfactory, start the scheduled or live broadcast and check YouTube’s stream health and the service’s status dashboard. Confirm that the public can reach the watch page and that playback continues across file changes.
Clear music rights before broadcasting
You are responsible for having the necessary rights to all music and recordings in the stream. That can involve separate permissions for the musical composition and the sound recording, and the applicable rights depend on the works, territories, and intended use. YouTube’s livestream terms say the broadcaster must have the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, and publishers.
Do not assume that a license alone guarantees uninterrupted playback. YouTube scans live content for third-party matches and may interrupt or terminate a stream. YouTube says that even licensed content may be interrupted when the channel has not been allowlisted by the rights owner through Content ID. Before launch, ask each relevant rights holder whether the channel needs to be allowlisted and confirm the permission covers the intended territories and continuous livestream use. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and YouTube’s copyright guidance.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Plan for continuity and recordings
Recovery if YouTube disconnects
A 24/7 stream depends on more than a successful initial connection. Check what the provider does after an ingest interruption: whether it retries automatically, how it reports the outage, and whether playback resumes at the current point or restarts. Test the behavior instead of assuming that a cloud service guarantees uninterrupted streaming.
Archiving a 24-hour broadcast
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A 24-hour broadcast exceeds that limit, so do not rely on YouTube to create one complete automatic replay of the full day. If you need a full archive, arrange separate recording or archival and verify the storage and retention details with your chosen service.

Common problems and fixes
- Livestreaming is unavailable: verify the channel and check for restrictions. If this is the first time enabling live, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- The cloud encoder will not connect: confirm that the stream URL and key are copied correctly and that the selected ingest protocol matches the configured endpoint. If you suspect the key is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Video buffers or stream health is poor: compare the encoder output with YouTube’s recommended settings. For 1080p30 H.264, YouTube recommends 10 Mbps, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval; test a lower output target if the service cannot sustain the chosen settings.
- The stream is interrupted by a copyright match: review the matched content, confirm that the permissions cover the use, and contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting. A license by itself may not prevent a live interruption.
- The 24-hour replay is incomplete or missing: YouTube’s automatic archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours. Use a separate recording or archival workflow for a full-day broadcast.
