You can run a continuous Hindi sad songs stream by hosting a persistent audio-and-video encoder on a VPS and sending its feed to a YouTube Live event. First, make sure you have livestream rights to every recording and composition: YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and even licensed music may be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID.
What a VPS-based 24/7 stream actually does
A VPS runs the encoder instead of your home computer. The encoder combines a playlist of rights-cleared songs with a still image or visual loop, then continuously sends that feed to YouTube. “24/7” describes the intended operation of your encoder and feed; it is not a guarantee that YouTube, the VPS, or the internet connection will remain uninterrupted.
YouTube treats the incoming feed and the viewer-facing event as separate resources. In its API model, liveStream represents the feed and its ingestion settings; liveBroadcast represents the broadcast event bound to that feed. A continuing feed can be associated with separate broadcasts, so plan for the possibility that you will need to start another event if one ends. See the liveBroadcast documentation and liveStream documentation.
Confirm music rights before building the playlist
Do not assume that commercial Hindi songs are safe to loop because you bought them, credited the artists, or found them marked “royalty-free” or “copyright-free.” For each track, confirm that your permission covers both the sound recording and the underlying composition for livestreaming, the territories where the stream will be available, and continuous or repeated use. Keep the license and any conditions on attribution, monetization, duration, and territory.

YouTube Help states: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If a match is detected, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder or interrupt or terminate it. A license by itself may not prevent an interruption: ask the rights owner whether your channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist and get confirmation before going live. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
No particular music catalog can be treated as cleared for continuous Hindi-song livestreaming without checking the actual license and its Content ID process. The rights needed depend on the tracks, territories, and intended use.
Set up YouTube Live and protect the stream key
- Prepare a live event. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or schedule the broadcast event you intend viewers to watch.
- Choose the encoder connection details. Copy the ingestion server address and stream key shown for the event or stream configuration. Use the RTMPS endpoint when supported by your encoder.
- Store the key securely. Treat it like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send content to your channel’s stream. Do not put it in a public script, screenshot, or repository.
- Confirm the event is ready to receive the feed. The encoder sends to the ingestion endpoint; the broadcast is the distinct event viewers see. Check the Live Control Room preview and event status before you start the public broadcast.
YouTube’s RTMPS setup uses the RTMPS protocol, an appropriate ingestion endpoint and path, port 443, and TLS. The hostname matters for server authentication through SNI. Use the full endpoint YouTube supplies rather than guessing or editing its path. See YouTube’s RTMPS ingestion guide.

Prepare the VPS, playlist, and visual
Choose a media layout
Keep the audio files and visual asset in an organized directory on the VPS. Use a stable still or a simple visual loop that you have permission to use. Check that the playlist order is intentional, transitions do not introduce unexpected silence, and audio levels are consistent without clipping. Make sure the artwork or loop is also cleared for the stream.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsRun a persistent encoder
A headless Linux VPS can run an encoder such as FFmpeg; a graphical desktop or OBS is not inherently required. The process needs to remain active and send the selected audio/video feed to YouTube’s current ingest address. Configure process supervision, logs, and alerts so you can detect a stopped encoder or lost connection. Plan how you will respond if the YouTube event ends and a new broadcast must be started.
There is no universal FFmpeg command or service configuration that can be guaranteed to work across VPS images, FFmpeg builds, playlists, and YouTube ingest settings. Validate the flags and reconnect behavior against the installed build and the endpoint shown in your Live Control Room. Do not rely on an untested process to recover correctly after a disconnect.

Choose stable encoder settings
YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS ingest, H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video options, frame rates up to 60 fps, and AAC or MP3 audio. It recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval, and says the interval should not exceed four seconds. Its recommended stereo audio settings include 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps. Check the current YouTube encoder settings when configuring your encoder, since supported settings can change.
For a static artwork music stream, 720p or 1080p at 30 fps is often sufficient; extra resolution does not improve the audio and may add encoding and network load. YouTube’s H.264 recommendations are:
| Video setting | Minimum bitrate | Recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 2 Mbps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
These are YouTube platform settings, not a universal VPS bandwidth specification. The VPS uplink needs headroom above the selected feed bitrate for a stable connection; choose a setting the server and provider network can sustain continuously.

RTMPS versus other ingest protocols
For an uncomplicated encoder-to-YouTube feed, RTMPS is the practical default: it encrypts ingestion and is appropriate for ordinary low, normal, or ultra-low latency modes supported by YouTube. RTMP is also supported but does not provide the same encrypted ingest connection. HLS and DASH are encrypted and support different advanced codec options, but their segmented delivery generally adds latency and they may not fit a simple persistent encoder workflow. Confirm protocol compatibility in both the encoder and YouTube’s current documentation; do not choose a protocol solely on the assumption that it will lower latency.
Test the stream and monitor it while live
- Run a representative preflight. Test with audio and movement similar to the intended stream, not just an empty or silent feed.
- Check the preview. Confirm the image is present, the playlist is playing, and audio is audible at a consistent level without clipping or unexplained silence.
- Review stream health. Look for dashboard warnings before making the event public. YouTube’s LiveStreams API can report problems such as low video bitrate, frame-rate mismatch, and no audio stream.
- Keep monitoring after launch. Check both the encoder logs and YouTube’s health indicators. A “24/7” setup still needs an operator response plan for a stopped process, network failure, copyright match, or ended broadcast.
YouTube recommends testing with conditions representative of the actual stream and monitoring stream health. Its guidance is available in the encoder settings and live-streaming recommendations.

There is no established universal minimum VPS size or monthly price for this setup. CPU needs depend on whether the video is encoded or passed through, the chosen codec and resolution, and the playlist process. Storage depends on the size of the audio catalog and visual assets. Network cost depends on provider egress rules, sustained outbound bandwidth, and any traffic cap.

Before choosing a plan, check the provider’s sustained CPU allocation, outbound bandwidth or egress billing, storage, restart policy, network route, backup options, and acceptable-use terms for continuous streaming. Treat provider sizing advice as an estimate unless it has been tested on the exact workload and dated; provider prices and terms vary.
Troubleshoot common failures
- YouTube shows no incoming feed: Check that the encoder is running, the stream key is correct, and the endpoint and path match YouTube’s current settings. For RTMPS, confirm port 443 connectivity and that the encoder handles TLS and the hostname required for SNI.
- The feed connects but YouTube reports low bitrate or unstable health: Lower the video bitrate or resolution, then verify that the VPS uplink can sustain the chosen rate with headroom. Review encoder logs and the provider’s bandwidth limits.
- The preview has no sound: Confirm the playlist is advancing, audio is included in the output, and the selected audio codec and sample rate are supported. Check YouTube’s health warnings for a missing audio stream.
- The stream is interrupted for a copyright match: Stop using the matched material until you have verified the rights and resolved any required Content ID allowlisting with the rights owner. A license without allowlisting may not prevent interruption.
- The encoder stays connected but the broadcast ends: The feed and the event are distinct YouTube resources. Check the event status in Live Control Room and be prepared to create or start another broadcast rather than assuming the existing event will remain active.
- The process stops after a VPS restart: Review the VPS restart policy and process supervision, then configure the encoder to launch under a supervisor and log failures. Test recovery deliberately before relying on it for continuous operation.
