Yes—Mumbai is an Akamai Cloud core site, and some GPU Linode plans are listed there, but that does not mean every plan or account can deploy there. Check availability for the exact service and plan in your account before building a 24/7 YouTube workflow. A Mumbai location is not an uptime guarantee: you still need to test the network and encoding path, monitor YouTube stream health, and plan for reconnects.
Is Linode Mumbai available for your livestream?
Akamai says its Chennai and Mumbai core sites are optimized for the India market. That describes regional positioning, not a promise of latency, capacity, or uninterrupted streaming. Akamai’s regions documentation also cautions that services are not guaranteed to be available in every region.
- Sign in to your Akamai Cloud account and check its service-availability view for the intended service and plan.
- Confirm that the plan can be deployed in Mumbai and that your account has capacity. Do this before designing around a particular instance size.
- Deploy a test instance, then measure the actual path used by your source, encoder, and YouTube ingest. Repeat tests on weekdays and weekends; Akamai advises against treating a single test as representative.
The listed GPU examples are selective rather than proof of universal availability. Akamai’s GPU Linode documentation names Mumbai as a limited-deployment-availability location for NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition and NVIDIA Quadro RTX 6000 GPU Linodes. Video encoding is listed as a suitable GPU workload, but that does not mean every livestream needs a GPU.
What a Mumbai Linode can—and cannot—do for 24/7 streaming
A cloud instance can be part of a workflow that encodes, relays, or otherwise processes a feed before sending it to YouTube. The stream’s source and the encoding workload matter: a camera or on-site encoder may send its feed directly, while a cloud workflow needs an incoming source and a configured encoder or relay. Do not assume an ordinary VPS can encode your chosen resolution and codec continuously without testing CPU, memory, and network load.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Keep these two decisions separate: Mumbai is a possible compute location; uninterrupted delivery depends on the complete source-to-YouTube path and its recovery behavior. Neither Akamai’s region information nor YouTube’s encoder guidance establishes end-to-end 24/7 uptime for a particular deployment. YouTube recommends testing before going live and monitoring stream health.
Configure YouTube’s encoder settings
Use YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance for the selected resolution, frame rate, and codec. YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS ingest and H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video; it recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval, no longer than four seconds.

| H.264 target | YouTube recommended video bitrate |
|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 17 Mbps |
Those are YouTube’s published recommendations for the named H.264 formats, not measured results for a Linode instance. Rates differ by codec and format; consult YouTube’s table rather than applying these two values to other resolutions or codecs. YouTube transcodes incoming live streams into viewer playback formats.
- Set the encoder to RTMPS where available, select a supported codec, and choose the resolution and frame rate that match the source and the available upload capacity.
- Set CBR and a two-second keyframe interval; keep the interval at or below four seconds.
- Before broadcasting, test with representative movement and audio. YouTube specifically advises testing before a live stream begins.
- During operation, watch YouTube’s stream health and alerts, and make sure the bitrate remains suitable for the actual connection.
Estimate the continuous network and compute load
A continuous stream transfers substantial outbound data. As a rough planning method, multiply the selected video bitrate by operating time to estimate video payload before protocol overhead; a 14 Mbps stream running continuously for a day sends about 151 GB of video data. This is arithmetic from the stated bitrate and 24-hour duration, not a Linode bill estimate. Check the intended plan’s current transfer allowance, pricing, and account terms before committing; the available information here does not establish an allowance or total cost for your setup.

Encoding also depends on resolution, frame rate, codec, and any processing. Load-test the exact workflow for sustained operation. A GPU instance may suit specialized encoding, but it can be an expensive and unnecessary choice for a stream that an existing encoder can produce.

Plan for failures, not just region selection
- Test the whole path: run the real source, encoder, and destination configuration, not just a generic network speed test.
- Repeat measurements: test on weekdays and weekends because performance can vary.
- Monitor YouTube: check stream health and alerts while live; investigate unstable bitrate or connection warnings promptly.
- Define recovery behavior: decide how the encoder reconnects after a network interruption or process failure, and test that recovery before relying on the stream.
- Check content rights: ensure you have rights to the video and audio being broadcast. Copyright compliance is separate from server availability, and no cloud region changes YouTube’s rules.
A region listing alone cannot establish that a stream will remain online continuously. No end-to-end 24/7 guarantee for a specific Mumbai deployment is established by the cited region or encoder guidance.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your use case is a prerecorded video or playlist looping on YouTube, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative to managing a Linode encoder: upload the video, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo keeps the uploaded video looping with your computer off. Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one flat price per slot; it includes automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. It is for uploaded videos and YouTube streams, not camera-originated live video.
