One phone number can be associated with two YouTube channels per year, according to a TeamYouTube Google employee. YouTube’s guidance does not specify whether “per year” means a calendar year or a rolling 12 months, or whether deleting a channel or removing a number restores a verification slot. The employee’s post also notes that carrier support for Google texts or automated calls can affect code delivery.
That phone-number limit is separate from the other requirements for going live. Verification alone does not guarantee that a channel is eligible to stream.
How many YouTube channels can one phone number verify?
The published guidance from Rob, a TeamYouTube Google employee, says a phone number can be associated with two channels per year. The post, published October 29, 2025, does not define how YouTube calculates the year. It does not say whether the limit resets on January 1 or after a rolling 12-month period, and it does not confirm that deleting a channel or unlinking a number restores a slot.
This limit concerns phone-number verification for YouTube features; it is not the same as a public identity checkmark or badge. Do not assume that buying a new SIM, using a paid phone or VoIP number, or removing a channel is a supported way to bypass the cap.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Why might YouTube verification fail?
A limit error and a code-delivery failure point to different things. A failed code does not, by itself, prove that the phone number has reached its channel limit.
| What you see | What to check | Supported next step |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube says the number has been used too many times | Whether the number has already been associated with two channels during the relevant year | Use an eligible number. The cited guidance does not establish an exact reset date or promise that a slot can be restored. |
| The code does not arrive, or verification fails with a generic error | Whether your carrier supports Google SMS or automated voice calls | Try the other delivery method, or use a number from a different carrier that has not reached the stated limit. |
| The number verifies, but you still cannot go live | Channel live-stream eligibility, restrictions and activation; for mobile, subscriber and device requirements | Check the relevant YouTube Help requirements below and allow for first-time activation. |
In the same TeamYouTube post, the employee identifies unsupported Google messages or calls from some carriers as a possible cause. That is not a guarantee about any particular carrier or country. If problems persist, the post recommends contacting Creator Support; it does not promise support can override the number limit.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
What else is required to live stream?
General live-stream eligibility
YouTube’s “Get started with live streaming” Help page says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube lists mobile, webcam, encoder and console as streaming methods, and says a person must be at least 16 to live stream. The mobile-only subscriber threshold does not apply to every streaming method.
Additional rules for mobile live streaming
For a mobile stream, YouTube’s “Create a live stream on mobile” Help page lists these requirements:

- A compatible device running Android 8.0 or later, or iOS 8 or later.
YouTube says first activation can take up to 24 hours. It may also limit the audience for mobile streams from channels with more than 50 but fewer than 1,000 subscribers; the archived stream may default to private. This audience limitation is separate from phone-number verification.
What to do if you still cannot verify or go live
- If the error says the number reached its limit: check whether it has already been associated with two channels during the relevant year. YouTube’s cited guidance does not define the yearly reset calculation.
- If a code is missing or the error is generic: try SMS if you used a call, or an automated voice call if you used SMS. If needed, try a number from another carrier that has not reached the stated limit.
- If verification succeeded but streaming is unavailable: check channel eligibility and any live-streaming restrictions. For mobile, also check subscriber count, device requirements and whether live streaming is turned on.
- If mobile live streaming was just enabled: allow up to 24 hours for first activation before troubleshooting it as a separate failure.
- If the issue continues: contact Creator Support. Do not assume support can reset or bypass the phone-number cap.
Or let it run in the cloud
Phone verification and YouTube’s eligibility rules still apply, but once your channel can stream, StreamNeo can keep uploaded videos looping on YouTube without leaving a computer running at home. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live.
