You can stream Gurbani continuously from a Windows PC by looping a local audio or video file in OBS, connecting OBS to a YouTube Live stream with the stream URL and key, and keeping the PC, OBS, source file, and internet connection running. First enable live streaming for your channel, then test the complete setup before relying on it. A 24/7 broadcast is not guaranteed to stay uninterrupted, establish rights to the recording, or produce one complete YouTube archive.
Before you start: prepare YouTube and your Gurbani media
Make sure live streaming is enabled on the YouTube channel you plan to use. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this until the moment you want to begin. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create an encoder stream; labels and steps can change, so follow the current on-screen flow. Scheduling the stream in advance can create a watch page that you can share before the broadcast starts. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance covers the current process.
Have the audio or video files ready on the PC. If OBS will play a local file, keep it in a stable location and do not rename or move it after setting up the source. Decide whether you need one file on repeat or a playlist of multiple files. Check that you have permission to broadcast the exact recording and any artwork or other visuals you use; devotional subject matter does not by itself establish copyright permission.
Build an OBS scene that loops your source
Loop one local file with Media Source
- Open OBS Studio and create or select a scene for the broadcast.
- Add a visual if you want one: under Sources, select +, then add an image or other visual you have permission to use. A static image is sufficient for an audio-led stream.
- Under Sources, select + > Media Source, give the source a recognizable name, and select the local Gurbani audio or video file.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties, then select OK. The file should restart when it reaches the end.
- Check the OBS audio mixer while playback runs. Confirm the source is not muted and that its meter responds. If using a video file, confirm the image fits the scene and that audio is present.

Loop several files with VLC Video
For a playlist, add VLC Video as a source, choose the files, and enable Loop Playlist in the source properties. This option requires VLC installed on the PC. OBS notes that 64-bit OBS needs the matching 64-bit VLC build. Check the playlist order and confirm that playback moves from one item to the next before going live. Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, open the encoder stream you created and locate its stream URL and stream key.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Select YouTube if it is available in the service list and follow the sign-in or connection flow. Otherwise, choose the option to use a custom server, then enter the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio.
- Keep the stream key private. YouTube describes it as a password-like credential that lets an encoder send a feed to the correct stream. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS with the replacement. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
- Start the stream from OBS and wait for the preview or incoming feed in the Live Control Room. For a scheduled stream, complete the YouTube Studio go-live step if it is required by the flow shown for that stream.
Do a test first rather than treating an OBS connection as proof the public broadcast is ready. YouTube recommends testing before going live and monitoring stream health during the broadcast. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance describes the connection and stream-health checks.

Choose resolution, frame rate, and bitrate for your connection
Use an upload-speed test and choose settings your connection can sustain consistently, not just at a brief peak. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate and publishes different encoder guidance depending on resolution, frame rate, and codec. Its table’s publication year is not stated, so check the current table in YouTube Help when configuring a live stream.

These are YouTube’s published recommended values for the stated modes and codecs, not a guarantee that a particular PC or internet connection can sustain them. The same YouTube guidance recommends CBR, a two-second keyframe interval (not exceeding four seconds), and RTMPS. Match the selected bitrate to the encoder and your stable upload capacity; do not apply one row’s figure to a different resolution, frame rate, or codec. Run a test stream with the actual source and settings, then inspect YouTube’s stream-health status and listen to the preview. This can reveal audio that is too quiet or missing, a file that does not loop as intended, or an unstable connection before you commit to a long broadcast.
Keep the Windows broadcast running and recover from interruptions
A local OBS stream stays live only while the PC remains powered, OBS continues running, the media source keeps playing, and the network can send the feed. Windows updates or shutdowns, a sleeping PC, an OBS crash, power loss, a router or ISP interruption, and an unavailable source file can all stop the broadcast. The reviewed platform guidance does not guarantee uninterrupted uptime for a particular computer or connection.

- Keep OBS open and the source files accessible. Avoid moving, renaming, or deleting files in use by a Media Source or playlist.
- Use Ethernet if Wi-Fi instability is causing drops. OBS recommends a wired connection for streaming when possible; Wi-Fi is not automatically unusable, but its stability depends on the local network. See OBS’s dropped-frames and connection troubleshooting guide.
- If OBS reports dropped frames, lower the bitrate to a level your stable upload can support. Check the connection and server selection using OBS’s troubleshooting steps, then run another test and monitor YouTube’s stream health.
Plan separately for the archive and for broadcast rights
A continuous live stream may not become one complete recording
YouTube says live streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited guidance does not promise a complete archive for a single uninterrupted stream longer than 12 hours. If you need a full recording of a 24/7 broadcast, plan a separate recording or archive workflow and verify YouTube’s current behavior rather than relying on a single automatic archive. YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance explains the stated limit.
Check rights for the specific recording and visuals
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A detected match can cause a placeholder, interruption, or termination. Even if you have licensed a recording, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to prevent an interruption. Confirm the license and any channel-allowlist requirements with the owner of the exact Gurbani recording; check rights for images and other visuals separately. No blanket copyright conclusion can be made from the fact that the content is Gurbani. See YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
