YouTube end screens appear at the end of eligible videos—not during an active live broadcast. To use one with a 24/7 stream, first check whether YouTube has created an editable archive for it. If there is an eligible video, add a video or playlist element in YouTube Studio and place it in the closing seconds.
Can an end screen appear while a 24/7 stream is live?
No. YouTube describes end screens as elements shown in a video’s final seconds. Its instructions do not establish that an end screen can appear over an ongoing live broadcast.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not explain how a continuous 24/7 broadcast is divided into archives, or whether a particular resulting archive can have an end screen. Check the stream entry and any resulting video in YouTube Studio. Use the end-screen workflow below only if an eligible video is available. YouTube’s end-screen instructions and live-stream encoder guidance cover these separate features but do not resolve continuous-stream archiving.
Add an end screen to an eligible video
YouTube’s documented workflow is for a video that is at least 25 seconds long. End-screen elements can occupy the last 5–20 seconds of the video.

- Sign in to YouTube Studio and open Content.
- Select the eligible archived or uploaded video.
- Open Editor, then choose End screen.
- Add a Video element to feature a specific follow-up video, let YouTube select a video suited to the viewer, or feature your most recent upload. You can also add a playlist element.
- Adjust the element’s timing and placement within the closing 5–20 seconds. For a standard 16:9 video, YouTube allows up to four elements; other options include subscribe and channel promotion. An external website link is available to creators in the YouTube Partner Program.
- Preview the end screen, then save your changes.
Choose a destination that genuinely follows from the stream and use a spoken or visual call to action that describes it accurately. An end screen does not guarantee extra views. YouTube may hide or change how elements appear based on viewer behavior, device, context, and performance. Viewers can also hide end screens, and they are unavailable in some apps and formats and on Made for Kids videos. YouTube’s end-screen guidance lists the applicable limitations.
Check whether viewers use the end screen
After viewers have had time to reach the video’s ending, review the end-screen element click-rate in the video’s Engagement tab in YouTube Analytics. Channel reports can compare element types and videos. Use those results to decide whether to change the destination or layout; no general viewing lift is established by YouTube’s guidance.

When the stream is ending, consider Live Redirect
If your goal is to send viewers onward as a live broadcast ends, Live Redirect is a separate option—not an end-screen element and not a way to redirect people while a 24/7 broadcast continues. YouTube allows eligible creators to send viewers to a Premiere or another live stream. The documented requirements are more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Redirecting viewers to another channel’s stream also requires that channel’s permission. YouTube recommends setting up the Premiere first and telling viewers to wait a few seconds for the screen to reload. See YouTube’s Live Redirect instructions.
