Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo stream an Indian regional-language podcast archive on YouTube Live, schedule an encoder-based event, play only episodes you have permission to rebroadcast, and label the stream with the episode title. For a continuous show of several episodes, list their order and start times in the description, then add chapters to the replay. YouTube Live creates a broadcast and archive; a YouTube podcast is a playlist of episode videos, so the two formats serve different purposes.
This guide explains how to stream an Indian regional-language podcast archive on YouTube Live with episode labels—and how to make old podcast episodes easier to identify and revisit afterward.
Choose between separate episode events and one continuous archive stream
Decide first whether listeners need a distinct replay page for every episode or a single live event containing several episodes. YouTube’s archive guidance describes saving a stream as an archive; it does not establish that a continuous broadcast will be divided automatically into separately labeled episodes.
| Format | What viewers get | Best for | What to do about labels |
|---|---|---|---|
| One episode per scheduled Live event | A separate event and replay for each broadcast, subject to YouTube’s archive behavior | Distinct episode pages and clear titles | Put the episode identity at the start of each event title |
| Several episodes in one continuous Live event | One event and one resulting replay | A continuous listening session | List episode order and approximate start times in the description; add replay chapters when eligible |
If separate episode pages matter, schedule separate events or upload the episodes individually as videos. If you want one uninterrupted event, make the description and chapters do the navigation work.

Check rebroadcast rights and prepare your episode list
Before scheduling, confirm that you have the rights needed to rebroadcast every part of each episode, including music and other incorporated material. A recording being available on your channel, or having been published previously, does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast it. YouTube’s live-stream terms require providers to hold necessary rights in live and archived content, including applicable music rights, and to follow platform rules and applicable law. See YouTube Terms of Service.
Make a working list so that file selection, titles and chapters stay consistent. Preserve each official title in its original language and script; add a concise translated label only if it helps your intended audience.
- Official episode title and show name
- Season or episode number, if the show uses one
- Original language and runtime
- The corresponding local video file
- For a multi-episode stream, the planned order and approximate start time of each item
A practical naming pattern is Episode 042 — [episode title] | [show name]. This is an editorial convention, not a YouTube requirement. For a single-episode event, a viewer-facing title could be [Episode title] — [show name] | Archive replay.

Verify the channel and prepare an encoder broadcast
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days to start a live stream. YouTube offers mobile, webcam and encoder methods. An encoder is the practical choice for controlled prerecorded playback, overlays or external audio equipment. Follow the current instructions shown for your channel in YouTube Studio, as interface labels and feature availability can change.
- Open YouTube Studio and enter Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule one for later. Scheduling gives you an event to promote before it begins.
- Configure your encoder. Use an encoder and protocol supported by your chosen workflow. YouTube lists OBS among encoders that support HLS output, but HLS is not required simply because the source is an episode video. Use the encoder’s current setup instructions and the protocol YouTube presents for the stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, share it publicly or include it in screenshots.
- Start the encoder early enough to test. Check the Live Control Room preview, confirm that the event is reachable from the channel and watch pages, and monitor picture and sound before relying on the scheduled start.
- Keep a local recording. Confirm that the recording file is being written and growing during the broadcast. YouTube recommends a local archive as a backup.
- Start the event in Live Control Room if your selected setup requires it. Confirm that the broadcast is actually live before leaving the control room.
YouTube’s encoder guide says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so do not use a long continuous stream as your only copy of the episodes or their replay.
If your specific workflow uses HLS, YouTube’s requirements include TS segments of 1–4 seconds, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, and HTTPS POST/PUT. These are HLS-specific configuration requirements, not general settings to impose on every encoder workflow. See YouTube’s HLS ingestion guidance.

Label the live event and its replay
For a one-episode event
Put the episode identity first in the stream title, then the show name. Add a short descriptor such as “Archive replay” if useful to distinguish the event. Keep the saved replay’s title aligned with the episode identity so listeners can recognize it later. YouTube’s podcast discovery guidance recommends titling episode videos with the episode name and optionally the show name. It states: “Within the podcast, each video is titled with the episode name and, optionally, the show name.”
For a multi-episode event
Use the event title to identify the show or listening session, and put the full episode sequence in the description with approximate start times. Do not suggest that each item will become its own replay page just because it has a label inside the broadcast. Once the replay is available, use actual replay times to make chapters if it qualifies.

Organize the replay as a podcast playlist when appropriate
YouTube’s podcast format is a playlist of episode videos, not the live event itself. YouTube’s guidance says a podcast playlist should contain full-length episodes from all seasons in intended listening order. Avoid mixing clips, different shows or uploads from other channels into the show playlist. Add a show title, a detailed description and a square podcast thumbnail when setting up the podcast. Individual episode videos should have recognizable episode titles.

After the event, open YouTube Studio’s Content area and select the Live tab to find and review the archive. Set its visibility as intended. Check in Studio whether the playlist and its content are eligible for podcast features; do not assume every livestream replay qualifies. If it is eligible and represents a full episode, organize it in the appropriate podcast playlist in listening order.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Add chapters and language metadata
Use chapters to navigate a multi-episode replay
Manual YouTube chapters require the first timestamp to be 00:00, at least three timestamps in ascending order, and a minimum of 10 seconds per chapter. Use times from the final replay, not estimates copied from the schedule. For example:
00:00 Episode 1 — [title]
24:18 Episode 2 — [title]
51:42 Episode 3 — [title]
The times above are illustrative only. Chapters divide one video into navigable sections; they are not separate episode videos in a podcast playlist.

Set the original language and useful translations
In YouTube Studio, set each video’s original language accurately. YouTube says this helps the platform and contributors understand the video’s language and helps viewers find videos in their language. For a multilingual channel, keep official episode and show names in their original script, and add translations where they genuinely help the audience. YouTube Studio also supports translations for playlist titles and descriptions. A translated title or description does not, by itself, create captions or spoken-language dubbing.
Troubleshoot common archive-stream problems
- You cannot start a live stream: Check whether the channel is verified and whether it has a live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days. Review the current Live Control Room notice for account-specific next steps.
- The event is not visible to viewers: Check the event’s visibility and whether the stream is actually live. During preflight, verify the event from both the channel and watch pages.
- The encoder connects but the preview has no usable audio or video: Check the encoder’s selected source, output and connection settings, then inspect the Live Control Room preview before starting the event for viewers.
- The stream’s replay is missing or incomplete: Check the Content area’s Live tab and your local recording. YouTube warns that streams over 12 hours may not be captured; keep the local recording as a backup.
- Listeners cannot find a particular episode in a long replay: Add a sequence with approximate start times to the description and, after the replay is available, replace estimates with actual chapter timestamps that meet YouTube’s rules.
- A replay does not appear as a podcast episode: A live archive is not automatically a separate episode record. Check playlist eligibility in Studio; if you need a distinct episode page, use a separate broadcast or upload the episode as an individual video.
- A song or other material triggers a rights issue: Pause further rebroadcasts until you have confirmed the necessary rights for the relevant live and archived content. Prior availability on YouTube is not proof of rebroadcast permission.
