Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To send the audio playing from a RadioBOSS automation playlist to YouTube Live, configure a RadioBOSS custom RTMP encoder with the stream URL and key from YouTube Live Control Room, then select that encoder in RadioBOSS’s broadcast settings. YouTube offers RTMPS, an encrypted version of RTMP; use the exact RTMPS URL shown for your broadcast if you choose it.
Before you start
- Have RadioBOSS installed and a playlist ready to play. RadioBOSS uses the audio mix—what is currently playing—as its default broadcast source.
- Make sure your YouTube channel can create a live stream, and open YouTube Live Control Room to get the URL and stream key for the broadcast.
- Have an image or video file ready: RadioBOSS’s documented RTMP setup asks you to select background media.
- The manual index identifies its help as covering RadioBOSS 7.2. Labels may differ in other versions; check the installed version’s interface if a label does not match.
The RadioBOSS manual describes the basic operation this way: “The software reads the audio data from a playlist and encodes it on the fly.” RadioBOSS manual: Broadcasting Internet radio.
Get the YouTube stream URL and key
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room.
- Open the stream settings for the broadcast you intend to use.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown there. Treat the key as a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube’s controls before continuing.
- If using RTMPS, reveal and copy the RTMPS URL provided by YouTube rather than substituting an ordinary RTMP address. YouTube describes RTMPS as RTMP over TLS/SSL. YouTube Help: Encrypt your stream using RTMPS.
Configure the RadioBOSS custom RTMP encoder
- In RadioBOSS, open Settings → Options → Broadcast, then choose Custom Encoders.
- Add an encoder, give it a recognizable name such as “YouTube Live,” and select the RTMP option.
- Enter the destination URL and stream key copied from YouTube Live Control Room in the corresponding RTMP encoder fields. Follow the field formatting shown in your RadioBOSS version and use the complete URL YouTube supplied.
- Select the image or video file RadioBOSS requests as background media.
- If RadioBOSS displays an Install plugin control because the RTMP plugin is missing, use it to complete the plugin installation, then return to the encoder configuration.
- Save the custom encoder.
Select the encoder and start broadcasting
- Return to the Broadcast area in RadioBOSS and add a streaming encoder.
- Enter
[rtmp]in the Server field. - Select the custom encoder you created by name, then apply or save the broadcast settings.
- Start the RadioBOSS playlist and start the broadcast. Check RadioBOSS’s report or log for the encoder’s connection status, and check YouTube Live Control Room to confirm that YouTube is receiving the stream before you make it public or begin the event.
The RadioBOSS general broadcast manual gives “Connected to server! (output N)” as a success message for the server workflow it describes. The exact message for a YouTube custom RTMP encoder can vary by configuration and software version, so confirm the connection in both RadioBOSS and YouTube rather than relying on that wording alone.
Choose RTMP or RTMPS
RTMPS encrypts the connection between the encoder and YouTube using TLS/SSL. For a direct YouTube broadcast, use the RTMPS URL supplied in Live Control Room when selecting the encrypted route; do not assume that an RTMP address can simply be changed into an RTMPS one. YouTube’s guidance says to check that the protocol and server are set to rtmps when diagnosing a connection. If an SSL error persists despite a correct URL, YouTube documents port 443 as a troubleshooting option. Follow the actual URL and field requirements shown by YouTube and RadioBOSS. - Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
RadioBOSS Cloud is a different destination
RadioBOSS Cloud’s live-broadcast guide configures RadioBOSS to connect to RadioBOSS Cloud using Icecast; it describes that service transitioning between live and AutoDJ broadcasts. That is a relay-to-RadioBOSS-Cloud setup, not a substitute for the custom RTMP encoder configuration when YouTube is the destination. Choose the workflow that matches where you want the broadcast to go. RadioBOSS Cloud: Live broadcast.
Troubleshoot a failed connection
- Check the destination URL and protocol. Compare RadioBOSS’s configured URL with the one shown for the broadcast in Live Control Room. If using RTMPS, use YouTube’s RTMPS URL and check the protocol/server as YouTube directs.
- Recheck the stream key. Copy the key for the correct broadcast and make sure it has not been mistyped, truncated, or replaced with a key from another event.
- Look for a missing RTMP plugin. If the custom encoder offers Install plugin, complete that step and retry.
- Check network access. RadioBOSS’s general broadcast documentation identifies an incorrect address or port, firewall or antivirus blocking, and lack of network connectivity as possible causes of connection errors. These are general checks, not diagnoses specific to YouTube.
- For an SSL error, verify the RTMPS details first. Confirm the supplied URL and protocol, then consult YouTube’s port 443 troubleshooting guidance if the URL otherwise appears correct.
- Confirm both ends. Use RadioBOSS’s report or log and YouTube Live Control Room to distinguish an encoder connection problem from a stream that has connected but is not yet visible as expected.
RadioBOSS’s general checks are documented in its broadcasting manual. YouTube’s protocol and SSL guidance is in its RTMPS help page.
