To run a continuous Indian classical music stream on YouTube Live, clear the rights for both the compositions and the specific recordings, enable live streaming in advance, then send a configured encoder feed to a YouTube broadcast and verify the preview before going live. A licensed recording can still be interrupted if its rights holder has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID. For a 24/7 feed, plan for encoder failures and long-stream archiving as well as the initial setup.
1. Clear the music rights before building the stream
Check rights in both the composition and the particular sound recording. A traditional or public-domain composition does not automatically make a modern recording or performance free to use. Confirm with the relevant rights holders or representatives that your intended live use, replay or archive, territories, and dates are covered. YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with the label or distributor when using copyright-protected music: YouTube for Artists.
Ask the rights owner to add your YouTube channel to its Content ID allowlist where that process applies. YouTube cautions that a licensed stream may still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted, even when the stream is limited to territories where the license applies. Keep a record of the grant, its territory and term, the uses it covers, and the channel identifier provided for allowlisting; that record helps you verify the arrangement if a claim or interruption occurs.
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including content in another live broadcast. A detected match can cause a placeholder to replace the feed and a warning to appear; if the content remains, the stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. A copyright or Community Guidelines strike can also terminate a live stream. Archived live streams may receive Content ID claims after the broadcast ends if you choose to archive them. See YouTube Help’s copyright guidance for live streams.

2. Enable live streaming before the planned start
If this is your first time going live, YouTube for Artists instructs music channels to open Create → Go live → Enable and verify the account by phone at least 24 hours before the planned first stream. Treat that as an initial activation lead time, not a wait that must be repeated before every broadcast. The available control labels may vary with account status or interface updates.
3. Create a broadcast and set up the encoder
YouTube recommends an encoder when you need more control than a basic mobile or webcam stream offers. For a continuous music feed, the encoder is the software or system that sends your audio and visual output to YouTube. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream, enter its metadata and privacy setting, and copy the stream key into the encoder’s delivery settings. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream, so do not publish it or include it in screenshots.

- Create the broadcast: In YouTube Studio, start the live-stream creation flow and choose whether to go live now or schedule the broadcast. Add the stream’s title, description, and privacy setting, and confirm that the selected channel is the one whose music rights are cleared.
- Configure the encoder: In the broadcast’s stream settings, copy the stream key and enter it in the encoder’s YouTube delivery configuration. Select the audio and visual source you intend to send, such as a prepared playlist with a static visual. YouTube’s cited guidance does not prescribe a specific encoder, bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, computer, or internet speed, so use the current settings and recommendations shown for your account and chosen encoder rather than assuming a universal profile.
- Start sending and check reception: Start the encoder’s feed, then wait for YouTube Studio to show that it is receiving the signal and inspect the preview for the correct audio and image before starting the broadcast. In the Live API workflow, YouTube describes the stream status
activeas indicating that it is receiving encoder data. - Go live: Once the preview and incoming signal are correct, start the broadcast using the control shown in YouTube Studio. Confirm playback from the public watch page if the stream is public.
The YouTube Live API describes broadcasts and the streams that carry their encoder delivery settings, including an explicit 24/7 use case: a continuous broadcast can keep running while a separate interview broadcast ends. That is API-level guidance; creators setting up a feed in Studio should use the controls available in their account. See Google’s guide to broadcasts and streams and the broadcast lifecycle guide.
4. Plan continuity, monitoring, and archives
A continuous stream depends on an encoder continuing to send a valid feed and on the connection between it and YouTube. The cited YouTube and Google guidance does not establish a minimum internet speed, computer specification, guaranteed uptime, or preferred device for this use. Choose an operating setup that can sustain your specific audio and visual feed, and decide how you will notice a lost signal and restart it. Keep access to the stream key restricted and have a recovery procedure available to whoever monitors the channel.

Google’s live production guide says streams up to 12 hours are automatically archived and advises recording longer streams for manual upload. The retrieved guide did not show a revision date, so verify the current archive behavior in YouTube Studio before relying on one continuous replay for a stream longer than 12 hours. YouTube’s separate Content ID guidance also notes that archived live streams may be claimed after completion.

Troubleshooting common problems
- You cannot enable live streaming: If this is the channel’s first live stream, complete the phone verification and activation flow, then allow the stated lead time before the planned first broadcast.
- YouTube is not receiving a signal: Check that the encoder is running, the correct stream key is entered, and the encoder is sending to the intended broadcast. Wait for Studio’s incoming-signal status and preview rather than starting blindly.
- The stream is interrupted after music starts: A Content ID match may have triggered YouTube’s live-content protections. Stop using the matched material, review the notice in Studio, and contact the rights holder or label about the license and channel allowlisting before restarting with that recording.
- The stream ends but the recording is unavailable: Archive handling for streams longer than 12 hours should not be assumed from an undated revision of Google’s guide. Check current Studio behavior and keep a local recording for manual upload when an uninterrupted replay matters.
