This is separate from making someone a moderator in Twitch chat: the two permissions must be granted independently.
Grant Streamlabs Shared Access
- Sign in to Streamlabs and open the Dashboard.
- Go to Account Settings → Shared Access, then choose Add User.
- Choose Moderator, Administrator, or Custom. For Custom, select only the permissions needed for the person’s tasks.
- Confirm the invitation and privately share the generated invite link with the intended person. Streamlabs currently documents that invitations expire after 72 hours.
- The invitee accepts the invitation, then uses View My Access or their own Dashboard’s Shared Access page to select Access Account.
The account owner can return to Shared Access later to change permissions or revoke access. See Streamlabs’ Shared Access instructions for its current workflow.
Choose the narrowest role that fits

Treat these credentials as sensitive and reserve this role for someone who needs that scope. |
Streamlabs says shared users cannot see the settings page. Its documented role behavior may change as the product interface evolves, so review the permissions shown when creating an invitation rather than assuming every screen will remain identical. More detail is in the vendor’s role and access guidance.
Give Twitch chat moderator status separately
Shared Access grants Streamlabs dashboard permissions; it does not by itself make someone a Twitch chat moderator. Streamlabs documents two ways to assign the Twitch role:

- Use Twitch’s Roles Manager to add the person as a moderator.
- In your Twitch chat, enter
/mod USER, replacingUSERwith the person’s Twitch username.
Follow the current details in Streamlabs’ Twitch moderator guide. If the person needs both chat moderation and dashboard tools, complete both grants.
Keep Cloudbot authorization distinct
Cloudbot is the Streamlabs bot, not the invited human moderator. It needs its own authorization to act in a channel’s chat. Streamlabs’ current guide documents these platform-specific directions:

- Twitch and Kick: use
/mod Streamlabsin chat to grant the bot moderator status. - YouTube: add Streamlabs as a moderator through YouTube Studio’s Community settings.
Check Streamlabs’ Cloudbot setup guide for the current authorization steps. This authorizes the bot; it does not invite a person to Shared Access.
Set up the tools the moderator will use
Cloudbot moderation and commands
Cloudbot’s documented Mod Tools cover controls for caps, symbols, links, words, paragraphs, emotes, and Zalgo text. Link Protection can use website whitelisting and the !permit <username> command to allow an individual, with a configurable permit duration. These settings govern bot behavior; they do not replace assigning the human moderator the appropriate platform role or dashboard permissions. See Streamlabs’ Cloudbot Mod Tools guide.

Chat commands can also be configured for roles such as moderators or streamers. Set each command’s permitted role in its command settings; available options depend on the command setup. Streamlabs explains this in its chat commands guide.
Media Share requests
Streamlabs says a trusted person needs at least Moderator rights to manage Media Share. The owner can review pending requests in the Dashboard’s Recent Events queue. Consider whether requests should be reviewed before display when choosing auto-show or auto-hide behavior. See Streamlabs’ Media Sharing instructions.

Common access problems
- The invitation no longer works: Streamlabs documents a 72-hour expiry. Ask the owner to create and share a fresh invitation.
- The invitee cannot find the shared account: have them accept the invite, then open View My Access or their own Dashboard’s Shared Access area and choose Access Account.
- The person can use dashboard tools but cannot moderate Twitch chat: assign the Twitch moderator role separately through Roles Manager or
/mod USER. - Cloudbot does not act in chat: check that the bot itself has been authorized for the relevant platform and channel; a human’s Shared Access invitation does not authorize the bot.
- The person cannot use a particular Streamlabs feature: revisit Shared Access and verify that the selected role or Custom permission set includes what that task requires.
