A Super Chat highlights a paid message in Live Chat; it does not buy a guaranteed reply, shout-out, or acknowledgement. YouTube’s published eligibility rules do not list the absence of a live host as a disqualifier, so that conclusion follows from the documented mechanics—not a separate guarantee for every unattended-stream setup.
What a Super Chat does on an unattended stream
A Super Chat is a paid message highlighted in Live Chat. A Super Sticker is a separate paid animated image. YouTube says these features are available on eligible live streams and Premieres, subject to eligibility and video settings. Supers may appear as colored messages or animated images; a buyer’s profile picture may remain at the top of the chat feed for a period that depends on the purchase amount. YouTube’s eligibility and policy guidance and its Supers management guide explain the features.
A creator can thank a buyer verbally or heart a Super, but those are optional creator interactions, not services guaranteed by the purchase. YouTube may display certain automated messages for purchase milestones; that does not mean an unattended stream will respond to each buyer. Do not describe Supers as donations or crowdfunding: YouTube explicitly says they are neither.
What must be true for viewers to see the option
The creator and channel must meet YouTube’s fan-funding requirements, the feature must be available in the relevant location, and the stream and its chat must be eligible. Availability can vary by location and may change, so check the current country list and the channel’s Studio eligibility rather than assuming every viewer or channel can use Supers.

Check the individual stream
Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable for a video that is age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, or a YouTube Giving fundraiser. They are also unavailable if Live Chat or comments are turned off. A channel’s general eligibility does not override a restriction on the particular video. Keep Live Chat enabled
Supers are chat features, so viewers need an eligible stream with Live Chat available. YouTube can turn Live Chat off if the stream’s content or chat violates Community Guidelines. Review the stream’s settings and chat status before relying on paid chat features, and monitor Studio for any restrictions. YouTube’s guidance on avoiding live-stream restrictions describes issues that can affect Live Chat and Supers.

What viewers should—and should not—expect
A purchase makes a message more prominent in chat; it does not ensure a human is watching. YouTube describes acknowledgement as something creators may choose to do, not an automatic entitlement. For an unattended channel, set that expectation clearly in the stream description or pinned chat message so viewers know a Super may not receive a live response.
Creators can review recent activity and available transaction information in YouTube Studio under Earn > Supers, and see Supers revenue in YouTube Analytics. This provides a way to review activity after the fact, but it does not mean every message will be read while the stream is unattended.

Revenue, moderation, and refunds
YouTube says creators receive 70% of confirmed Supers revenue after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees are deducted; YouTube currently covers transaction costs such as credit-card fees. This is YouTube’s published policy, not a guarantee of a particular take-home amount for each purchase. The payout calculation and applicable terms are described in the YouTube Supers management guide.
Supers remain subject to Community Guidelines and can be moderated like other live-chat messages. YouTube says that if a Super Chat or Super Sticker is moderated and removed for a policy violation, YouTube donates its portion of the revenue to charity. Deleting a Super Chat after the stream ends does not result in a refund. See YouTube’s live-chat moderation guidance.

Plan moderation when nobody is present
YouTube’s tools include holding potentially inappropriate messages, slow mode, and controls for turning Live Chat on or off. An unattended stream still needs a moderation plan: decide what controls to use, who can respond to problems, and what viewers should expect if no moderator is available. A paid message is not exempt from moderation.

YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. This is an archive and replay limitation, not a stated cutoff on live Super Chat purchases while an eligible stream remains live. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. If a stream ends and an archive is available, its live-chat replay can show chat alongside the video as it appeared live. If a continuous stream longer than 12 hours is not captured, do not assume that a complete video or chat replay will be available afterward. Keeping a YouTube stream running without a host
If you want a prerecorded video to stay live while you are away, you can run the broadcast from equipment you operate or use a cloud service. Either way, the stream’s eligibility, Live Chat availability, content compliance, and moderation still matter; automation does not make a video eligible for Supers.
